1.THE REVIVAL

SPECIAL SQUAD CHIEF DEAD
ACP AARYAN KHANNA NO MORE

Police force's elite branch, Special Squad suffered a major blow with the death of the Chief, Aaryan Khanna. He was injured in the shootout involving the infamous Anna Kadtus gang and was shifted to Jeevan Hospital this Tuesday from Anandi Hospital, Nashik. The bullet wound proved fatal and he succumbed to grievous stomach injuries last night. No details regarding the shootout have been released due to the pending inquiries and the sensitive nature of the case. Reports say that Khanna was given a very private burial by his friend and not even his team was informed regarding this. Ms Deepika Ghosh has succeeded Khanna as the Chief of Special Squad.

Everyone was seated at the table. Deepika was standing near Aaryan's chair, hair hiding her face, silent. Even though two months had passed no one had been able to get over their grief. Ajay was holding Neha and Shotgun and Boxer were looking down at the table....

Deepika: Toh...

Her voice shook and her legs gave way as she clutched the chair for support. Concerned eyes turned towards her... Deepika was badly shocked... When she was thinking of a new phase in her life, a storm had blown over leaving only bits and pieces... But she suddenly stood straight... Drawing inspiration from what she had promised... to herself ... to him... She would not allow special squad to crumble so easily... No she won't.... The concerned eyes relaxed a bit... But Deepika did not notice that a new pair of eyes had fixed themselves on her...

Deepika: Toh... Aaj hum ek naye shuruwat karne jaa rahe hai... I expect all of you to do your best... I am sure woh... (Her voice faltered....)
Boxer :( sadly...) Yahi chahta hoga hai na....? (Looking at her)

She nodded slowly....

Deepika: (now with a level voice) Maine aap logon ko yahaan isliye bulaya hai ki.... Special Squad me nayi addition ho rahi hai... (Picking up the file in front of her....) Naam hai...

Voice: "Rituparna Kulkarni... (Everybody craned their necks to look at the source of this voice) kaam- wahi jo Deepikaji ne bataya Special Squad me naya....hoon...Specialisation in- field investigations aur is suhane avsar se Chief Investigating Officer. Thank you for your kind attention...."
Deepika was surprised at his abrupt and surprising entry. Short and to the point. But he had not asked for introductions' "Lagta hai theek tarah se homework karke aaya hai", she thought.
Ajay stared at the new Investigation officer thoughtfully, "Hmm' Kulkarni' Marathi asava'."
Boxer: Kya?
Ajay: Kuch nahi yaar'Chodo na'

Deepika narrowed her eyes as she observed the disappearing back of the guy... Around 5.6 and clad in jeans and a t-shirt, he sported a beard and he had glasses'...Comparing him to Aaryan, she thought, "Aaryan jaisa naa koi hai, na kabhi milega'"...Tears started welling in her brown eyes. Composing she nodded at the others and started for the cabin...

She faltered at the entrance' He was sitting on Aaryan's desk his legs on the table, and looking at the things around him with a pleased expression'She was about to tell him off when she realized that now he rightfully owned the place' But the place in her heart' Would anyone be able to fill that void?

She went over to her desk and sat down looking at the man sitting opposite to her' Where once Aaryan used to sit. She remembered his ways' his peculiar smile' his coffee' his passion ' and a smile lit her lips but it did not reach her eyes'..

Rituparna observed the woman sitting in front of him.
The way she had entered' he was sure'hopeful that she would tell him off but she did not'
His eyes manifested themselves upon hers' the brown eyes spoke of pain' of some deep pain that kept her awake in the nights' Guilty, he suddenly looked down. His eyes went to the glass shelf and to his disbelief the shelf was empty'..

Rituparna: Yahan ke photos kahan hai Deepikaji?

Deepika: (surprised) woh'yahan' (She indicated her drawer) Kyun?

Rituparna: Who kuch nahi' sirf'.Woh main isi drawer main rakhna chata hoon'

Deepika: Ji dekhiye' Aap who photos wahan kyun rakhna chahte hai'? Aapko '?
Her voice trailed off'

Rituparna: (wildly) Jee who main previous owner aur usse jude aapke sentiments ko nahi dukhana chahta'

Deepika stared at him frowning'. "Weird'." She thought'.

Rituparna sat at his desk which had previously belonged to Aaryan, looking around at the office. He smiled and contemplated on the business at hand, his chocolate eyes darting out and in turn at Deepika. She had started typing away on her laptop trying to ignore the crushed fragments of her heart in the haze of work'. In her mind she made a note to do a background check on this person'.

"Hmmm'"

"Jee?" Deepika looked up'

"Main poochna chahta tha ki pichle do mahinon se cases kaise handle kiye jaa rahe hai?"

Deepika's face vanished behind the screen of her laptop'"Woh main hi dekh rahi thi' ' Upar se mujhe charge mila tha' so'"
Her voice trailed away'
An expression of shock and disbelief came on his face which was soon replaced by a wan smile'.
She was thinking about Aaryan, his voice, his movements, and the blissful moments they had shared'.
"Deepika'!"
She looked started at the interruption,
Rituparna said"Tumhara phone baj raha hai'"
Deepika: (She noted that now he had come from aap to tum')Ji'(on the phone) Kahan yes, right away'(Gets up and stands in the door) Naya case hai'
Rituparna nodded and got up. Pausing for a fraction, his hand slipped in his drawer and he put something in his pocket' Deepika's sharp eyes noticed this on the reflection on the glass door and she whired around looking at Rituparna'. He smiled winningly and hurried past he' She was left at the door, looking at the team.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............ I am speechless I have to say... Its a great start.... It's a wonderful start in fact.... Lekin.... Rituparna!?!?? Kuch to pak raha hai Pooja!!!!!!! Koun hai vo? Hunh? Hunh?

Wow, dude...you're a really good writer! Pata nahin kyun, mujhe is Rituparna Sahib mein kuch ajeeb lagta hai...something fishy about him...can't wait to see what happens.😛

2.MOMENTUM

CRIME SCENE (Inspired by a true case)

(The crime scene is a flat. The victim is an old lady ' age around 60. She is lying in the middle of the drawing room, beads of blood running down her throat')

Boxer: Inka naam hai Julie D'Souza'.
Shotgun: No' Are you sure?
Rituparna: Kya hua Shotgun?
Shotgun :( Glances briefly at Rituparna and then at the victim) Ye Julie D'Souza hai. The eminent scientist at NCL Pune'.
Boxer: Jee haan' Ye wohi hai' Tum kaise jaante ho?
Shotgun :( with a condescending glance) Pichle mahine inka ek interview chapa tha' actually ye eco-fuels pe kaam kar rahi thi' She is an E-grade scientist' Upar se bahut pressure hoga Aaryan'.
Just as the words escaped his mouth, Ajay and Boxer looked at Shotgun, and he realized his mistake. Aaryan was'.no more'
Shotgun: Woh main'
Rituparna waved it away'.
Rituparna: Cause of death?
Shotgun: Ye neck par ka slit lagta hai kaafi deep hai'
Rituparna: Time?
Shotgun: Abhi kuch nahi keh sakta for sure par shayad kal raat ke nau baje give or take an hour'.Autopsy ke baad bata paenge'
Rituparna:Hmm..Theek hai' Ajay boxer padosiyon doston rishtedaron se baat karo' Shotgun evidence collect karne ke baad body ko move karo'(His phone rings'He talks with a low voice on the phone')Shotgun hua?
Shotgun: Thodi der main'
Rituparna:Theek hai muje jaana hai.. Main directly office aaunga' Deepika ko bata dena'
Shotgun nods and gets to work' (Pausing, to Ajay and Boxer) Ise kisne bataya ki mujhe Shotgun bulate hai?
Ajay: Hume toh nahi' Subah toh proper introduction bhi nahi hua tha' Phir ye'?
Zubin: Kya pata yaar' Chalo'

DISCUSSION TABLE
Rituparna stands at Aaryan's chair. Deepika looks at him and then heads to her previous place'.
Rituparna: Guys' Victim ka naam hai' Julie D'Souza'
Deepika:(shocked) The scientist?
Rituparna: Yeah' Toh pehle main unke bare main batat hun' She is Polish by birth' (Referring to a paper in front of him) 35 years pehle India aayi. Unki shaadi hui the Marathi veteran actor Manoj Killedar se. Par do saal ke baad hi unka divorce hua. Baad main unki shadi musician Jacob D'souza se hui.. He died 5 years before'Tabse woh Mumbai ko har Saturday Sunday aati thi aur weekdays mein NCL Pune mein kaam karti thi' Par mujhe toh ye baat khatak rahi hai' Aaj toh Thursday hai' Who aaj yahan kya kar rahi hai? Aur presumably time of death kal raat hai'Toh who kal raat bhi yahaan thi.. Kyun?
Deepika: Aur ek baat' She is quite old' Mujhe nahi lagta ki who apna khana khud pakati thi' Hum ye unki bai se pata kar sakte hai'
Rituparna: Right... Ajay Boxer tum ye lead follow karo' Neha call the NCL Unke doston se pata karo' Deepika autopsy' Shotgun evidences' (Everyone nods. He claps his hands) Guys' Get to work'
Deepika paused a moment before getting up, back arched, she marched right out of there without a single glance backwards. Rituparna looked at her frowning. What was wrong?

He went into the cabin and sat in the chair. He grasped his head with his hands' Then he got up and went over to Deepika's desk. He had to get those photos' He pulled open the drawer and looked into it, shocked. Just then Neha came inside'
Neha: Rituparna'. Tum wahan kya kar rahe ho? (displeased)
Rituparna: Main..woh' Tumhe kuch mila?
Neha: Haan actually maine NCL main unke doston se baat ki. Unke ek dost ne bataya ki who Mumbai aati jati thi kyunki she had always treasured those memories of her marriage. She never got over the pain of the divorce. Later she married Jacob D'Souza' He died 5 years ago' Cancer tha'Woh ye dheere dheere accept karne lagi thi ki Jacob ki death hui hai' Woh ek book par kaam kar rahi thi and she used to concentrate better here' Par unke friends ne unhe convince kiya Pune mein settle hone ko. She had never taken a leave for the last 5 years so she had been granted a week's leave' Actually woh is week main unke flats ka final transaction karne waali thi' Pichle mahine se broker se baat kar rahi thi'
Rituparna: Flats? And the name of the broker?
Neha: Haan actually unke do flats hain. Ek yeh aur ek Juhu main' Broker ka naam toh pata nahi'
Rituparna: Koi idea final transaction hua ya nahin?
Neha: Nope'
Rituparna: Agar hua hoga toh unke account main paise transfer hue hoge' Neha tum'
Neha: Nahi Ar.. Rituparna' Deepika ko pata chala toh'
Rituparna: Kuch nahi hoga' Main hu naa?
Neha: (Unconvinced) Right'(goes out).
Rituparna makes to follow her' At the door he turns around and goes again to the drawer and opens it. There is a sharp tap on his shoulder. Deepika looks at him angrily, hurt. He silently picks up the two photos letting the third one remain inside. He puts them in their places. He turns back, takes the third and keeps it on her desk. Deepika opens her mouth to speak but he goes past her. She is left alone at her table thinking. What she does not notice is the pain and remorse in Rituparna's eyes.

Ajay: Are Rituparna' Who hum D'souza ji ke bai ko laye hai'
Rituparna nods and enters the interrogation room. Deepika follows him.

INTERROGATION ROOM
Rituparna seats himself on the chair. Deepika sits beside him'
Bai: (anxious)Jee'.(looking at Ajay)Saheb kay havay' Mhanjee mee
Ajay: Ghabru naka ' Who aapko sirf kuch saval poochenge Aap unka sahi jawab dena'
The maid nods'
Rituparna: Aap Julie D'Souza ko kab se jaante hai?
Bai: Jee kareban pichle 19-20 saalon se' Main Killedar saheb ke yahaan kaam karti hun' Jab Taiji aur unka divorce hua toh Taijine poocha' Kya main unke yahaan kam karungi' To maine bola haan.. Phir jab woh Jacob ji ke saath rehti thi'Par Jacob ji ko gujre hae 5 saal ho gaye' Tab woh Pune chali gayi'. woh sirf Shaniwar Raviwar yahaan hoti'
Deepika: Par aaj toh Shaniwar nahi hai.. Phir aap wahan?
Bai: Je taije ne kaha tha ki who aakhri baar mumbai aayegi.. phir pune jayengi' toh unhone 1 hafta chutti li' aur mujhse kaha ki roj aana' toh maine haan bola..Ab muje kya pata tha ki... (Starts sobbing' Deepika and Rituparna get up and leave)
Outside, Ajay and Boxer join them'
Rituparna: This confirms that she was going to sell her flats nothing else' Ajay Boxer tum dono us flat par aur ek baar jao. Us broker ki identity ka pata lagana bahut jaruri hai' (They nod)
Ajay: Chal Bhai Boxer dekhte hai' (Smiles at Neha and goes)
Deepika: Chalo autopsy main' Maine autopsy khatam ki hai

Hmm..... Case is interesting Pooja ji ji..... Ab Rituparna koun hai isme shak nahi, lekin yahan kyun hai isme kuch hai? Sochne waali baat hai Pooja... You do create suspenses you know! Awesome...👏
