Hi guyz,

as v all know the elections r fast approaching. the king was wondering if indians studying n working abroad b given a chance to vote as our votes decide the country's future. n there r a considerable no. of people living abroad. it might not be possible to have regional elections voting as there r umpteen no. of regional parties like TDP, DMK, shivsena etc. but definitely the national elections can be conducted.

of course they should be given the rights to vote. they should vote in their ambassadorial embassy in the states where they live. especially those who are studying abroad as they are still the citizens of india and they should have equal rights as the citizens of india in india itself. for the working people they should be able to vote from the respective countries that they are working at as long as they haven't put aside their citizenships of india and become a citizen of another state.

yeah but all those who study n work abroad will settle there. many of them come back. they have families back home. so they need to have a right to exercise there vote as it involves their family n themselves too

If they are coming back then they should vote ....but if they aren't coming back and they aren't interested in India's development or concerned about India then why should they vote...there is no need .

Hey girl, even if we are not planning on coming back for good, we still care for our country and her development. Now that India allows her NRI citizens to have dual nationality, I think we all deserve the right to vote.

We live in a global world. We have same Indian news channels at home that you guys watch over there. We have access to exact same newspapers and many other India related stuff. Trust me, we know plenty😊
And like KM pointed out, most of us grew up in India and we also have families still living back home. Some of us also have investments in property and/or businesses back home as well. Hence, we have as much right as Indians living in India to have a say in who should or should not govern us.

Since it seems more like a "I Dare You" kind of question and not really related to the debate, I should refrain from answering it. But when did I do what I "should" be doing to begin with😆
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) or High Capacity Bus Corridor (HCBS) is a fabulous concept. We have a similar one in houston from Metro Rail. Initially, there was some resistance and accidents in Houston because the car drivers had to adapt to some changes in the traffic flow but eventually, it all worked out fine. In Delhi, failure, as harped by the media over and over again, stems more from the poor implementation, improper planning and people's aversity to stick to the traffic rules. Everyone and the environment will benefit from having fewer cars on roads.
All this frap about BRT failure, I feel, is more media generated than the real problems itself. Car lobbyists are behind the anti-BRT campaign in Delhi. I feel with some more planning and initiative on public's part to stick to all traffic rules, BRT could be as successful in Delhi as Metro.
That said; how does this affect my right to vote?
