Reality show contestant, Salman Ghouse suffered burns while performing a West Bengal-based dance form
On Monday Salman Ghouse, a participant on reality show, Dance India Dance, injured himself after attempting to perform a dance form that involved fire. Salman tried to revive Chau, a dying dance form of Puruliya, West Bengal.
Now recuperating at home, Salman said, "I burnt my eyelids. It was terrible for a couple of days, but I'm better now. But I will not let this injury hamper my next performance. I aimed to do something new and unusual." But the performance and the dangerous stunt almost cost him his life. Our source added, "It took Salman over two hours to get dressed in the special costume for the dance. His costume was supposed to protect him against the flames. There were five layers of cloth and insulating material to shield him from any injury that might be caused. His face was masked in a way that left little scope for him to see. That was his handicap." Didn't the precautions with the costume help? Replied Salman, "It definitely helped. It could've been worse, the costume hindered that from happening." |
