Asiavision Song Contest 2009

There is a topic on thisin the chat club. But I figured this would be a great place to discuss since its a musical reality show forum. However, mods can move to a better place if need be.

The first pilot of the Asiavision song contest is expected to be launched sometime mid 2009.

For those who have been deprived of the awesomeness a bit of history - Eurovision Song Contest is the oldest biggest and most watched musical reality show ever. It has given the world the likes of Abba and generous doses of good old fashioned Europpop. Almost the entire European Continent and West Asia participate. Each participating country hosts a sub contest to determine who will represent them in Eurovision. In many ways Eurovision is like the musical olymics. Everyone is glued to the TV vying for their country to win. After the Eurocup, the Eurovision is has the most heightened levels of excitement for Europeans.

If you thought that Idol voting is bad - wait till you hear of the Eurovision voting. I could explain forever - but google it. 😆

Finally the worlds greatest music contest comes to Asia. I mean it when I say greatest, you will never see such diversity from traditional European folk, to gothic metal on one stage. Hopefully, Asiavision recreates that awesomeness.

Theres going to be controversies too - political ones. Europeans want to kick out Turkey, Israel and Eastern Europe to Asiavision if it succeeeds. What will Asians do - we have our own political messes to deal with. 😆

England can stop sending people like Daz Sampson for a change and find the likes of Dima Bilan or Luminita Anghel.

I am curious how India will perform - Indian music is far removed from the J-Pop, K-Pop bubblegum rock styles of far east asia.
