Much is being spoken about the IPL matches in India. These matches seem to clash with the Election period this year. Is security such a serious problem in India? The way the Govt. and Cricket board have been broadcasting the security issue, it really downplays India. India is not as dangerous and I don't think that they should have made such a big issue of this. Policemen in India do fulfill their duties and there are enough to cover both the events. Only thing is that there should be proper programming.
Another thing is shifting the venues abroad is depriving the cricket fans to watch the much awaited event. Watching the match live is one thing and watching it on TV is another. Hope the IPL authorities take a step which will keep these matches in India.

actually , i feel indian politicians wouldn't be so foolish to let IPL go to a different venue untill there were sufficiently good enough reasons. I do believe that providing security cover for the general elections should be top priority and only because a problem seriously would be arising in providing that ,therefore such a step would have been taken , but this is more of a gut feeling rather than anything else.

Yup ,ofcourse , IPL does lose a lot if it goes out of india, and its just not the fans !

i think the bad impression that should go out is that it was all not well planned, rather than lack of security cover . Thats what actually is the impression i get

after the attack on srilankan players the security threat was a forerunner. With the elections round the corner providing adequate security tothe players along with the electoral candidates & the public too wud have been very difficult. The IPL bosses ought to have kept these in mind B4 fixing up the schedule.
Whatever, I m not too pleased about some aspects about the IPL . The rampant commercialisation of a popular game, the way the players get auctioned , & now the way some of the great indian players like Rahul Dravid & Saurav Ganguly R being treated is realy pathetic. Imagine Buchanan suggesting 4 captains for the Kolkata Knight riders ! 😲 I wonder if he wud hav dared to make that suggestion if IPL had been played in India.

IPL is out of India because of election...If Indian Goverment cant provide security to players because of elections then why held it here in India our Election held under lot of security and Goverments main focus is elections at the moment.

@ angie...angie auctions is the part of IPL or any premier league .If Owner of the teams are paying player BIG money then they should score BIG...it happens in football also.

I get U sonu, but thats Y I dont like the IPL . The owners- auction-means players reduced to commodity ! I d prefer the earlier cricket matches played in a more friendly atmosphere in proper spirit of sportsmanship . The IPL reminds me of the bygone days of Gladiators 🤢 History sure repeats itself.

Thank God this issue got settled. ELECTIONS are more important than CRICKET at any point of time. Its really great that our govt entertained discussion on IPL to this extent...they should have dismissed this IPL plans in this season before itself. No one need not play and watch cricket at the cost of their security :P
