Ram - Sumant ji, yesternight one grief-stricken women came on foot from her village to seek justice from me. During my coronation, I announced that getting justice is every citizen's right. Anybody can seek justice from me at any time. Then why was that woman not allowed to meet me?
Sumant - I beg forgiveness for that, maharaj. That was a mistake by gatekeepers. I came to know of the incident in the morning. The doorkeepers say that you were taking rest at that time. That is why they did not think it proper to inform you at that time.
Ram (getting angry) - Is it more important for me to take rest or to provide justice to my people? Scriptures say that the way a dog awakens on slight noise and starts barking, the same way should be the sleep of a king; he should be aware about his people even during sleep. Sumant ji, doesn't the administration know that justice delayed becomes injustice? Everybody must know that now onwards the king Ram will live inside this luxurious palace and yet live the life of an renunciant. Like a sanyasi, the doors of my hut will be open for my people throughout day and night. Ram will live for the sake of his people. Rest is a very small matter. For the sake of subject, Ram can give up the most priceless of objects and the dearest of people. If anybody stops people from meeting me, then he will be punished severely.
(Wish today's politicians had even an iota of concern for people.)
Sumant - You are great, maharaj. There cannot be any other king in this world, who is so much concerned about his people.
Ram orders that the woman be searched and provided justice.
Kaushalya is doing puja. Her eyes are closed. Ram comes there and smiles on seeing his mother. He sits near her feet. Kaushalya opens her eyes.
Kaushalya - I came to know from Sita that you are restless because some unknown woman who had come to ask for justice.
Ram - Yes, Ma, whenever I feel restless, I remember you. In exile, I used to remember you and I got strength. Because of my mistake, a woman did not get justice. I did not give clear instructions to gatekeepers. My ancestors have contributed to the glory of Raghukul. The world still sings the glories of the great kings of this dynasty. Ma, bless me that like them, I also can live my life for my citizens.
Kaushalya - My blessings are always with you. I know of the announcement you made today. Before this, no king of Solar dynasty, not even your father Dashrath, made such an annoucement. Thus you have already exceeded them.
Ram - Ma, when father was in such a situation, then what did he do?
Kaushalya - He did not depend only on spies. He himself disguised and went amidst his people.
A messenger comes there and informs that the chief of spies Bhadransh came to meet him.
Ram - I am coming there to meet him.
The messenger leaves.
Ram - He must have come to give the news of that woman.
Kaushalya wishes that the woman is fine.
Ram meets Bhadransh.
Ram - I knew you would get the full information about that woman.
Bhadransh hesitates.
Ram - What happened? Didn't you bring any news about her?
Bhadransh - Maharaj, the news is not good.
Ram is worried that the woman perhaps did something to herself. Bhadransh says it is not so.
Bhadransh - I came here to discuss with you something else. Our spy Anant's truth is known to the demons of Madhupuri. He was sending us some information, which the demons heard.
Ram - I hope he is alive.
Bhadransh - Yes, he is. Somehow he escaped and reached here.
Ram - That is good.
Ram, Sumant and rajvaidya go to meet Anant.
Anant - Pranam, Maharaj.
Ram - Pranam, Anant. It is because of bravehearts like you that this kingdom gets its respect. You did not hesistate to put your own life at stake for the sake of kingdom. Therefore, I bestow you the title of rajmitra (friend of king).
Ram instructs rajvaidya that rajvaidya himself should treat Anant.
Outside that room.
Ram - Bhadransh, what happened to that woman?
Bhadransh - Our spies and soldiers are trying their best to search her.
Ram - So they have still not found her? After this, we will meet only when you have got all information about her. Till then, I relieve you from your duties.
Guru Vashisth meets Kaushalya, Ram and Sita.
Vashisth - There is a good news. After many years, sage Rishashring is coming. Ram, when you were not born, then your father invited Rishashring to Ayodhya. Because of his blessings, you and your brothers were born.
Ram and Sita are eager to meet him.
Ram - I will give instructions to Mahamantri that nothing should be lacking in his welcome.
Rishashring has arrived. He looks at Ram and Sita and looks shocked.
Kaushalya - Great sage, is everything all right?
Rishyashring closes his eyes and opens after some time an smiles.
Ram - If there is any good news, then please tell fast.
Rishyashring - The good news is that queen Sita is going to give birth to two sons.
Ram and Sita smile. Kaushalya, Sita's sisters and Ram's brothers are overjoyed.
Rishyashring - After that, Urmila, Shrutkirti and Mandavi will give birth to two sons each. Ram, your sons will be mightier than you. More than you, they will get culture from their mother.
It looks like Rishashring is aware that Ram's sons will be away from Ram. But he does not say this.
Ram is in his room. Sita comes and looks at him.
Ram smiles - Why are you looking at me like this?
Sita - I was praying to Lord Mahadev that my children get the looks and the qualities like you.
Ram - Is there any doubt in this? What did the sage say? He has prophecied that our sons will be full of good qualities and mightier than me.
Sita - And?
Ram - Isn't this sufficient? What can give more happiness to a father?
Sita - He also said that my sons will learn culture and patience from their mother. Why did he say that?
Ram - It is quite simple. Whole life, you you have demonstrated renunciation and patience. When I was given exile, then you gave up the luxuries of the palace and went to forest with me. If our sons get even an iota of your renunciation and patience, it will be great.
Sita - But I feel that the great sage has given some indication about the future, which we are not seeing clearly.
Ram - You are unnecessarily getting worried. Looks like in this condition, all women feel disturbed.
Sita prays to Lord Shiv that let this indeed be so.
Sita - But are you happy, swami?
Ram - I am as happy as I can be in this situation.
Sita - This situation? Is something wrong?
Ram - I am worried about that woman. I will be truly happpy only after she has got justice.
It is shown how in Ram-rajya, everybody is happy. But Sita heself has to suffer the exile. It is shown that Valmiki gives shelter to Sita, she gives birth to Luv and Kush, the kids become very mighty and tie even Hanuman, Hanuman looks at them lovingly, Sita enters Earth, Ram is shocked and screams Sita's name.
Ram-rajya mein poorn ki Ram ne sabki aas.
Janak-suta ke bhaagya mein kintu vahi vanvaas.
Van-van bhatki Sita Mata.
Valmiki bane aashrayadaata.
Apne aashram mein le aaye.
Jahaan Mata ne do sut jaaye.
Mata ne nij-dharm nibhaya.
Shishuon ko bal-veer banaya.
Siya balidan ki aisi pratima.
Kahi na jaaye jiski mahima.
Aatm-sammaan pe aanch jo aayee.
Bhumi-suta bhumi mein samaayi.
Rahee krandan karti aatma mano Ram ki
It appears as if Sagars are again and again showing the glimpses of Sita's exile and the story thereafter so that the viewers are prepared to watch such a tragic part of Ramayan. But I wish, they would have spent this time in showing some sweet moments between family members.
