Why is Sleep SO important? Snores.

Whistle!

Of course sleep is necessary to restore cellular proliferation which contributes to bone and skin growth in wee kiddies and repairment and replacement of tissues in adults. Also for the brain to function properly , the longer the time without sleep the greater the impairment of physical and mental performance, poorer the mood and the greater the motivation for snoring (zzzzz) 😆

Question.

Im not sure how true this is, but one of my friends mentioned that a person who sleeps an average of 4-6 hours is generally more intelligent than a person who sleeps for longer than the average requirement say for 9-11 hours.. why is that the case? i mean i sleep an average of 8 hours, does that just make moi average? 😛


so what is your take? how important is sleep to you? and how many hours do you guyz sleep for? 😆 would you say a person intelligence could be measured directly by their sleeping patterns?

I think your friend is basing their theory on lifestyles of world's richest business tycoons and top notch professionals. Most sleep around 4-6 hours. Recommended duration is 7-8 hours for adults and 8-9 for kids.

I get around 6 hrs on week nights but I catch up on it during the weekends when I sleep around 10-12 hours. 6 hrs on weeknights are also due to some nonsensical demands on my time - like logging in to IF😆

I can sleep for 48 hours if I have time. I must be pretty dumb and dull.

I'm not so sure your friend is right here. If I get more sleep one day vs. another day, it doesn't mean I'm dumb on the days I sleep more😆

I get about 5 hours of sleep on weekdays. I really wish I could get more and I think I'd probably function better. During final exams, I've gone without sleep for a couple days....but I think that's normal for college students....but not recommended. I definitely didn't feel smarter on those days. Actually, if you drive without 48 hours of sleep, I think it's the equivalent to being drunk. So yeah....SLEEP is good. I think the ideal time for my body is 7 hours. Not more, not less.

Sleep is very important veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy important for me..i can sleep for 15 hours....but ...but .....i cant..because of limited time

If i dont get sleep, i am irritable and then i dont remember to smile at the receptionist. The day starts off bad... breaking people's hearts... lots of coffee... and it gets downhill from there. Sleep is good. You should sleep even when you are not tired. Sleep early, sleep often and sleep anywhere you can.😉😊 I even get my winks in while travelling.😊

Ahh, I wish I could randomly sleep wherever I can....the only place where I can completely fall asleep is in my comfy bed. Other places (mainly the library😆) do get me be sleepy but not enough for me to completely doze off to take a nap....

I need at least 6-7 hrs of sleep to function normally though there have been times when I have survived for more than 36 hrs of work without a wink ! But that always makes me very short tempered & irritable 😔
Sleep is necessary for physical as well as psychological well being. Usually 6-8 hrs sleep is deemed necessary for humans. Less than that leads to sleep debt that leads to physical, mental emotional fatigue. Sleep deprivation is known to affect wound healing & impair immune system ,cognitive functions & memory.
