n Bollywood, as in life, nothing is permanent. Those in the know will tell you it's all about convenience. So you may hate the sight of each other but if together you can make money, enmity be damned! We bring you a list of 18 such men and women who have kissed and made up… at least for now.

1-Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt

Back in the 80s Boney Kapoor projected Anil Kapoor as the next superstar after Amitabh Bachchan. Meanwhile things weren't going too well for Sanjay Dutt. Things got worse when Anil Kapoor stepped into films initially offered to Dutt.

To add fuel to the fire, Anil's inflammatory statements against Dutt irked the star further. In return he too hit back at Anil Kapoor.

Things came to a head when Kapoor adjusted his schedule and bagged Subhash Ghai's Trimurti. The film that was stalled because of Dutt's imprisonment went on floors. It's a different matter it also flopped. But for almost two decades no one dared to sign Dutt and Kapoor together.

Finally, business partner Sanjay Gupta convinced Sanjay Dutt that Anil Kapoor was a perfect fit for a role in Musafir (2004). Dutt, now much older had also mellowed down.

This ended the 20-year-long cold war. In fact now Dutt will star in two of Anil Kapoor's home productions. In Shortkut – The Con is On he will make a special appearance with Anil Kapoor and Amrita Rao. And he will also star as a lead alongside Anil in a movie to be directed by Anees Bazmi.

2-Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor

After K3G, Kareena Kapoor found herself in the major league. She had signed films with Mani Ratnam (Yuva), JP Dutta (LOC: Kargil) and Sooraj Barjatya (Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon).

When Karan Johar approached her for Kal Ho Na Ho, Kareena is said to have demanded her market rate. Anyone in the industry will tell you it's a big no-no to do it to your mentor – not at least when you have just tasted stardom.

Preity Zinta bagged Kal Ho Na Ho as also a special place in Karan Johar's camp.

Kareena meanwhile was reeling as almost every film of hers flopped at the box office. She is said to have started from the scratch – and started wooing Karan all over again.

But it wasn't till Kareena established herself as name to reckon with that KJo touched her. Meanwhile her relationship with Saif Ali Khan helped her squeeze back into the KJo-SRK camp

Kareena Kapoor will now star alongside Saif in KJo's next to be directed by Rensil D'Silva.

3-Aamir Khan and Yash Chopra

Not many might remember a film called Parampara (1992). It was the last Yash Chopra directorial Aamir Khan acted in till Fanaa (2006) happened.

The reason for this long break was Darr. Insiders suggest that Aamir demanded a joint script reading session with Sunny Deol. Yash Chopra was mighty miffed and dropped him like a hot potato.

Darr went to Shah Rukh who became a superstar. It also marked the beginning of a long and profitable relationship between the Khan and the Chopras.

Kunal Kohli, then a Yash Raj favourite came up with the concept of Fanaa and Aamir Khan agreed.

Contrary to rumours Yash Chopra will most certainly direct Aamir in his next, a romantic saga with Preity Zinta in the lead. What's more, the Chopras will also make an exception for Aamir and actually pay him the price he demands.

4-Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu

Kareena's infamous Kaali Billi comment had a history. It was around 2000-01 when Ajnabee was being made. The two stars were not seeing eye-to-eye and things got worse when Bobby Deol ended up rubbing Kareena the wrong way.

Bipasha Basu meanwhile struck a great rapport and Kareena began to feel left out. Akshay Kumar – the fourth player in the game smartly decided to be neutral.

Fights began to get uglier as their respective boyfriends got involved too.

While John Abraham took a dig at Shahid Kapoor (Kareena's then beau), Kareena called John an expressionless actor on Koffee with Karan.

Kareena and Bips then starred in Omkara, though they never shared a frame.

Today though all the nastiness is a thing of the past. The Kaali Billi comment has been forgiven and all is well with the world.

Insiders however suggest that the pretence of bonhomie is to ensure Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham's long innings in the SRK-KJo-Chopra camp.

5-Salman Khan and Subhash Ghai

One of the biggest stories in the late '90s was that of a drunken Salman Khan beating up Subhash Ghai in the rest room of a hotel.

The reason for the spat remains unknown though it would be safe to say that it had something to do with Aishwarya Rai, Salman's then girlfriend.

While Sallu, on his father's insistence apologised to Ghai the very next morning, the two never worked together for years to come.

Meanwhile Ghai suffered some nasty blows at the box office called Yaadein and Kisna.

Desperate for a hit, Ghai warmed up to Salman and offered the script of Yuvvraaj.

Salman signed on the dotted line without any hesitation and even offered the director a concession in his fees.

What's more, the reclusive Salman even went out of his way to promote the movie.

In return, it is said, the star asked Katrina Kaif to be part of the film.

Intriguingly, despite the box office failure of Yuvvraaj, Subhash Ghai and Salman Khan are working on a film yet again.

6-Ajay Devgan and David Dhawan

This one is downright funny if you picturise this. Industry insiders and spot boys will tell you of a time in the late '90s when an angry Ajay Devgan chased David Dhawan around the studio floors for reasons unknown.

The two were shooting for their respective films when something went drastically wrong and Devgan was out to get the roly-poly director's blood. Poor David ran to save his life and managed to save his skin.

For the longest time David Dhawan stayed away from all events that Ajay Devgan was to attend.

Just as mysteriously, things got resolved and Devgan starred opposite Aishwarya Raiin the filmmaker's Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin.

To this day, both the men refuse to let anyone in on the reason behind the infamous chase.

7-Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla

The two were almost inseparable right from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). Their friendship blossomed over the years and Juhi acted alongside Aamir in Love Love Love (1989) and in (Aamir's father) Tahir Hussain's productions Tum Mere Ho (1990) and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993) and later in Indra Kumar's Ishq (1997).

It was during the shoot of Ishq, Juhi took offence to one of Aamir's pranks and lambasted him in public. Aamir refused to react even as Juhi Chawla revealed everything to film glossies.

Aamir then decided to maintain a distance, which got colder as Juhi teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir's archrival.

A year ago, the two have begun to warm up to each other. But as they say the mirror that is cracked can never be mended.

8-Rekha and Gulzar

Gulzar and Rekha shared a special bond for the longest time. But just before Gulzar's Namkeen (1982) went on the floors, their relationship soured.

It is believed that Rekha was to play one of three female leads in the film but Sharmila Tagore replaced her almost overnight. All this happened barely days before the first schedule of the movie was to go on the floors.

Hurt, Rekha held Gulzar responsible for her ouster and refused to talk to him for years.

But then when Gulzar was planning Ijaazat (1987), both let bygones be bygones and teamed up together for the project. The movie was a critical and commercial success.

9-Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi

When Rajkumar Santoshi wanted to make his directorial debut, Sunny Deol convinced dad Dharmendra to produce Ghayal (1990). The film went on to become a huge success and established Santoshi as a name to reckon with.

The duo then followed it up with Damini, which earned Sunny the National Award.

Then as Bobby Deol was to make his debut and Shekhar Kapur backed out of the project, Santoshi was handed charge. The film didn't fare too well and the director spilled the beans on Sunny's constant interference with the project.

The hot-headed Deol was in the meantime working with Santoshi on Ghatak. Although the film went on to become a success but the friendship had soured.

Then around 2001, to salvage Bobby Deol's flagging career, Santoshi was approached again, this time with a film on Bhagat Singh.

The filmmaker suggested that Bobby didn't fit the part. He went on to make the very same movie with Ajay Devgan.

Angered, Sunny Deol got Guddu Dhanoa to make another film on the same subject. The two films released on the same day and predictably failed.

It has been ten years since the two have had a decent hit and insiders insist they have kept their egos aside and are working on a new project together.

They've patched up a while back, but whether they will ever come back onscreen is still in question. It's really sad how one stupid prank ended a close friendship and destroyed one of the most beautiful onscreen couples ever. I'd love to see them back onscreen, no matter how old they get. It would be a miracle if they ever pair up again.
