Mahen and Nikhila Khanna ' A very understanding, caring and loving couple and of course doting parents. They have been living in Canada for the past 25 years now. Mahen visits India every three years to meet his friends and to check on their business in India. Owners of Khanna Empire, a wide spread business.

Angad Khanna- He is about 24 years old, the oldest child of the Khanna family. A very ambitious, realistic, and practical guy. He believes in God, but doesn't believe in wasting time in pooja-paat. He thinks like "kaam karoge toh phal milega, warna bhagwan ke saamne haath jodkar bhi kya fayda". He is a very loving and caring brother, and a respecting and dutiful son. Only his family gets to see his loving side, because he is very reserved with others. He takes care of the Khanna Empire with his dad and hates girls to the core'he's well aware of the affect he has on girls and is very proud of it and a little arrogant too.



Prem Khanna- He is about 22 years old, second child of the Khanna Family. The ideal son and brother, he is a very soft, loving and caring kind of a guy. He is just as ambitious as his brother, but loves to dream. He is a very "sanskari/agyakari ladka." He helps Angad with the Khanna Empire.


Preet Khanna- He is about 21 years old, youngest child of the family. Preet ka dusra naam Musibat hai. He is a very outgoing, funloving guy, loves to bug others, but cares deeply for his loved ones. He is in third year of MBA. Oh and how can I forget he is a total FLIRT!!!!!



Anurag and Prerna Maan- A very well respected family living in Kasauli. They are very humble, caring, and loving. Their daughters mean the world to them. They are very rich, but are very down to earth at the same time. Owners of Mann Empire, a wide spread business just like the Khannas.


Kripa Maan- She is about 23 years old, the oldest child of the Maan family. She is a gorgeous and sanskari young lady with a very kind heart. She loves her family a lot and her sisters mean the world to her. She always places others needs before hers. She is finishing her internship at AIMS and now is going to join her 'papa' as a full-fledged DOCTOR at Sanjeevani. Armaan and Riddhima are her best friends. She is a Neurosurgeon, but helps Dr. Keerti with the interns in other cases too.


Heer Maan- She is about 22 years old, the second child of the Khanna Family. She is the parchayi of her of her older sister, but she is very bubbly and funloving with people she is comfortable with. She is a complete bollywood buff. She is very close to Kripa and shares everything with her and always seeks her advice in every decision she makes. She is finishing her MBA.


Ashlesha Maan- She is about 20 years old, youngest and the bubbliest. She is the jaan of the family'in other words badmaashi personified. Absolutely loves her sisters and can't live without them. Shares all her secrets with Heer and seeks guidance from Kripa. She is in her third year of MBA.


Armaan Mallik- He is about 25 years old and a total FLIRT!!! He is an extremely handsome, charismatic and wonderful friend. He is Kripa's best friend since pre-school and Riddhima's friend/fianc/crazy lover since college. He specialized in Cardiology and is finished with his internship and is going to start working in Sanjeevani. Loves Kripa and Riddhima the most'they're the two most important people in his life. If Riddhima is his soul then Kripa is his breaths and they're his only family. He takes Heer and Ashlesha as his younger sisters.


Riddhima Gupta- She is about 23 years old and a beautiful, innocent, loving and a very sanskari girl just like Kripa. She is Kripa's bestfriend since childhood and loves her a lot, since Kripa had helped her a lot in coping with her mother's death, when Ridzie was about 10 years old. She is engaged to Armaan and loves him a lot. She is pediatrician, loves kids. She is working on her internship in the US and staying with her sister Anjali (Gupta) Joshi, and jiju Atul Joshi.


Dr. Shashank Gupta- He is Riddhima and Anjali's dad. He is also the dean of Sanjeevani hospital. He is a very caring and loving person. He has taken really good care of both his daughters after his wife Padma's death due to an accident. He takes Kripa as his daughter too and thus she calls him papa. Kripa had helped him a lot with Riddhima when she lost her mother'that's when he just fell in love with the little girl. He is a very successful surgeon.


Atul Joshi and Anjali (Gupta) Joshi- They've been married for two years now and live in the US. Atul is the CEO of Joshi Group of Industries. Anjali is very sweet and loving and adores her little sister Riddhima and considers her as a priceless gift that her mother gave her before her death. Atul is a sweetheart and a very funny kind of a guy, just like the show, but not as stupid. Anjali is a pediatrician. (They will just come up once in a while, not so important at present, maybe later on).

FYI:
* Armaan, Riddhima, and Kripa are childhood friends. AR fell in love in college and are engaged. Riddhima is finishing her internship in the US, because Anjali is pregnant, and so she can take care of her. Anjali is a pediatrician.
* The Khanna's and Gupta's are really good friends, but the kids have never met. They've only met Mahen because he visits India every three years and always makes sure to visit his best friend. The girls love him a lot and call him 'chachu'.
* This is going to be a romantic love story between Angad-Kripa, Prem-Heer, and Preet-Ashlesha. I am gonna call it Saathi Re'because it's all about trusting the person you fall in love with and choose to spend the rest of your life with. It's about supporting each other through the ups 'n' downs of life.

Part 1 ' Introductions

Kasauli, India:

"Good morning Ma, good morning Bauji," said Kripa as she came downstairs with her luggage and took blessings from her parents. "Arre bitto tu itni subah subah yeh sara saaman lekar kahan chali" asked her Bauji curiously.

He wasn't home a whole lot due to business and Kripa was busy with her internship and didn't get a chance to tell him about the trip, so she had asked Prerna to inform him.

"Ma aap phirse bhool gayi, maine kaha tha na aapse ki Bauji ko bata deejiye ga," sighed Kripa. Sorry baby mere dimaag se hi nikal gaya, said Prerna a little guiltily.

She then sat down with her Bauji to tell him about the trip.

"Bauji mere ab sirf do hafte hi bache hai na AIMS main intership ki liye toh isliye is hafte mujhe Goa main ek seminar attend karna hai, lekin aap chinta mat kijiye Ammy bhi mere saath jaa raha hai."

Anurag was a little tensed about letting her go for a week, but as soon as she told him that Ammy would be with her, he was perfectly at ease. "Theek hai bitto Armaan bhi jaa raha hai na toh mujhe koi chinta nahi, bas apna aur uska dhyaan rakhna, acha ab main chalta hoon aur bitto roz sham ko phone zaroor kar dena."

"Jee Bauji," replied Kripa obediently. She knew that her Bauji loved her a lot and would miss her terribly during the week. As Anurag walked towards the door Kripa called him and ran to him hugging him fiercely as a tear escaped Anurag's eye.

"I'll miss you Bauji," said Kripa and choked on her words. He pulled her away from the hug and kissed her forehead saying "I'll miss you too, lekin ek hi hafte ki to baat hai, chutki bajate hi nikal jaayenge acha ab main chalta hoon meri ek bahut hi important meeting hai."

As Anurag left, Kripa turned towards her mother and said, "Ma aap jaldi se thode ghobi ke parathe pack kardo na mere aur Armaan ke liye, woh zaroor late aayega aur bina kuch khaaye bahar se jaane ki zidh karega. Isliye main bhi usi ke saath raaste main kha loongi."

She quickly pecked her mom on the cheek, "main jaakar dono shaiton ko bhi utha deti hoon aur mil bhi leti hoon warna baad main naaraz ho jaayengi agar main bina mile chali gayi." With that she ran up the stairs into her room to wake her two beautiful sisters.

The girls had their own rooms, but loved to sleep together at times, and this time they'd wanted to sleep with Kripa and spend the night with her as she was leaving for a week and they'd miss her.

She walked to the oldest of the two girls, who was fast asleep with a cute smile playing on her lips and asked her to wake up. She didn't budge, so Kripa tried again, "Heer chal uth college ka time ho raha hai aur mere jaane ka bhi."

Heer woke up with a jerk and shouted "Kya di aapne mujhe pehle kyun nahi uthaya'jaane se paanch mint pehle koi uthata hai kya."

"sorry baba par tu inti aaram se so rahi thi toh man nahi kiya uthane ka came a reply from Kripa as she quickly hugged her sister and said, "Chal jaldi tayar ho ja college nahi jaana kya?"

Heer replied with full excitement, "Jaana hai na di kal ki farewell party ki tayari karni hai'aur phir kal tum dono ka result bhi hai aur phir 6 days ke baad teri graduation ceremony interjected Kripa. As soon as Kripa mentioned graduation ceremony Heer's face became a little somber and she said," Haan di, lekin is baar aap hamare saath nahi hogi results ke time par aur na hi meri graduation ceremony par.

"Toh kya hua sweetheart, my blessings and wishes are with you always, aur raha sawaal tere graduation ka toh mujhe bhi bahut bura lag raha hai lekin mera jaana bhi zaroori hai na, lekin tu fikar mat kar I'll be the first one to call you as soon as your ceremony is over," said Kripa trying to cheer Heer up.

Heer seemed to be convinced with that and she ran into the bathroom and Kripa moved to the other side of the room now to wake up her princess "aashi". Maharani Sahiba chaliye uthiye college ka time ho raha hai' Kripa tried waking her up, but all in wain. "Di'.sone do na," came a sleepy reply from the sleeping beauty as she turned to the other side facing her back towards Kripa.

Yeh ladki bhi na raat ko ullu ki tarah jagti hai aur subah der der tak soti hai, roz college ko late hoti hai, hai rabba is ladka ka main kya karoon, said Kripa as she looked up as if asking for answers. "Aashi cha lab jaldi se uth jaa, mujhe bhi jaana hai Armaan aata hi hoga" and with that aashi turned towards Kripa and said "acha pehle hug to de do and I promise main dus mint main uth jaaongi".

Kripa smiled at her little brat and gave her tight hug and said a little angrily, "chal ab hug bhi de diya aur main jaa rahi hoon, tu dus mint main uth jaana and all the best for your results.' With that she kissed Aashi's forehead leaving her with a smile and walked out the room saying a last bye to both her sisters. As she was walking down the stairs, she heard Armaan's car pull up in the driveway and she tried to hurry, but too late he'd already started honking like a madman.

She ran towards the kitchen hugged her mom, gave her a quick kiss, took the tiffin from her hands and rushed out with her bags. "Bye ma," shouted Kripa before shutting the door. She went and sat on the passenger seat as Armaan put away her bags in the trunk. He got into the driver seat only to get a few punches from Kripa.

Ouch, Kripa tu aajkal kya khatti hai, tere punches kuch zyada hi strong hote jaa rahe hai, he joked with her. Waise subah subah itna maar kyun rahi hai'.toh aur kya karoon tu itni zor zor se horn kyun baja raha tha bar bar. Yaar late ho raha tha na isliye replied Armaan with a smile, he loved to bug her. Acha ab sorry waise mere liye khane ke liye kuch layi hai, ya nahi.

Hmmm yeh loh tumhara favorite ghobi ke parathe and handed the tiffin to him. He started stuffing his mouth and after he was a little satisfied with one paratha'he offered Kripa the other one and said "mujhe pata tu mera wait kar rahi thi, yeh le tera paratha'.aur baki ki taraf aankh utha kar bhi mat dekhna woh mere hai'grinned Armaan.

With that they drove towards the bus stop and boarded the bus to their destination Goa. (Armaan had already called his driver to pick up the car later, as they had to leave early and the driver didn't start working until later.) While Kripa reviewed the information in her folder for the seminar, Armaan dozed off happily on her shoulder dreaming about Riddhima.

Khanna Mansion, Toronto, Canada:

"Preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeett," shouted Nikhila as she entered her youngest son's room. It was a disaster, a complete mess.

She knew where she would find him'apne do bodyguards ke paas gaya hoga bachne ke liye aur kya, thought Nikhila as she made her way through Angad, her oldest son's room and stopped at the door looking at her son busy packing and trying to fool his mother. They were moving back to India in a matter of 2-2 weeks and were going to live in their hometown Kasauli with their friends and memories.

Angad was leaving early as he had an important meeting scheduled in Goa, he would then join them in Kasauli at the airport'and then they'd make their way to the maan's and give them a surprise. They weren't going to inform them about their arrival. She quickly snapped out of her thoughts and walked towards Angad, who just ignored his mother's presence to act all innocent and busy.

She got a hold of his ear and twisted it to be greeted with yell from him.... "ow ma dard hora hai." Nikhila imitated him and said "agar itna hi dard hota hai toh phir hamesha use bachata kyun rehta hai'ek baar jaakar uske kamre ki haalat to dekh'kya karoon main is ladke kai humein kuch dino main Anurag bhaisab ke ghar rehna agar iska yahi haal raha toh who sab kya kahenge."

Angad slowly got out of his mother's hold and turned towards her and gave her a side hug, "Maa aap chinta kyun karti hai, preet samjhdar hai woh apni zimmedariyan jaanta hai aur woh apna kamra jama lega, aur apni packing bhi karlega'waise bhi main aur prem hai na usko help karne."

"Haan haan tum dono ki wajah se toh who bach jaata hai warna abhi take tere dad use kacha chaba jaate" "Ma" came another voice from Angad's walk-in closet. She turned around and saw preet and was about to get his ears when Angad caught her hands and preet continued "Maa aap hi sochiye agad dad mujhe kacha chaba jaayenge to unka hazma kharab ho jaayega na'to woh aisa nahi karenge'aur waise bhi unhe meethi cheezein khana mana hai, aur main toh bahut meetha hoon" sniggered Preet.

Angad and Nikhila started laughing at his antics and Nikhila soon told them to come down for dinner as Prem would be back from the office anytime with their dad. Before leaving she reminded Angad, "Beta packing khatam ho jaaye toh tony (butler) se keh dena woh car main rakh dega." "Jee ma," replied Angad and finished his packing and went down to join his family on the dinner table where everyone was waiting for him.

Their dad had come back earlier and was in the study, but Prem still hadn't arrived at it was almost 11 pm. He was supposed to be home 2 hours ago'they tried calling him, but the phone was switched off. Nikhila was pacing in the hall when prem came in looking dead tired.

Angad stood up and walked to him and asked him a little worriedly. "Prem tujhe aaj itni der kaise ho gayi, sab theek to hai na, tu phone bhi nahi utha raha tha." Prem replied coolly, "Arre kuch nahi bhai woh bas sara management India transfer karna hai na toh usi ke important meetings main busy tha aur phone switch off kar diya tha, shayad on karna bhool gaya." "Sorry ma" chaliye aap sab dinner shuru kariye main abhi fresh hokar aata hoon. After dinner everyone retired to their rooms as they had to wake up early to see off Angad at the airport.

Precap: Angad arrives at the Goa airport, on the other hand Kripa and Armaan arrive at the bus stop and all of them are headed towards the same hotel'do AK meet? Let's see keep reading Saathi Re'to find out'.
