"Wow Pia you're looking gorgeous"
"You too, Bani, your hair looks nice half-up like that with that butterfly clip. And your dress is very pretty too. The colour's very striking"
Bani's eyes twinkled. "Red's Jai's favourite colour. When I went to my first college dance with him, I wore a long, swishy dress like this"
Pia grinned at her friend's excitement.
"Par tu, Pia? Tu bhi bahut…" Bani broke off abruptly. Jai had just entered, with a wary expression on his face. Bani watched nervously as Pia fixed a smile on her face and led him in. She quickly changed direction and moved towards Pushkar. She wasn't ready yet.
She glimpsed Jai turning away, disappointed, and felt guilty. Bani grabbed the microphone and took a deep breath.
"Thoda sa pyar hua hain…
All the faces in the room turned towards her. Jai's lit up and she found the strength to continue.
…Thoda hain baaki
Hum to dil de chuke hain
Bas tere haan hain baaki"
"Thoda sa pyar hua hain…
Jai joined in with a smile.
… Thoda hain baaki
Hum to yeh keh chuke hain
Bas toh iqraar hain baaki"
They ended standing, staring into each other's eyes, each willing the other to forgive and forget.
"I'm sorry Jai. Main jaan chuki hoon keh mein tumhare bina nahi jeesakti"
"Bas iske liye intezaar tha. I love you Bani"
"I love you Jai"
As the slow, romantic music began, Jai tenderly led Bani onto the dancefloor. Looking around for Pia, Bani was excited to see Pushkar offer her his hand.
"Pia!"
"Jee Bani"
"Mujhe kuch batana chahti ti, hmm?"
To Bani's surprise, both Pia and Pushkar blushed. Bani squealed in delight.
"Sach mein, kuch chal raha hain? Tum dono…"
"Jee Bani. Actually, mein aur Pushkar aksar milte hain. Pushkar itni sweet, aur funny, aur…"
"Aur Pia itni pyaari, aur khoobsoorat hain…"
"Aur bata hi nahi chala…
"Kab, baton hi baton mein, hum dono ko pyar hogaya."
"Pyar to zaroor hai, Bani. Yeh dono to ek doosre ke sentences bhi katam kar rahe hain" Jai chuckled.
They all laughed, then the two couples continued to dance in each other's arms.
