Mumbai: It seems like an old rivalry has re-surfaced on Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Idiot Box's Ghar Ki Baat Hai sets on Sunday. During a shooting sequence where Ali Asgar (holding a whip in his hand) was required to teach Swapnil Joshi how to jiggle, the latter snatched the whip from Ali and hurt him very badly. And this improvisation wasn't part of the bound script! According to rumours, this was Swapnil's attempt to take revenge on Ali who won Comedy Circus whereas Swapnil was a runner-up on the same show. Director Anant Mahadevan confirms the news.
He says, "There was a scene where Ali has a whip and is training Swapnil to dance. And then, suddenly, Swapnil improvised on the scene and snatched the whip from Ali's hands. That was not written in the script. He swung it so hard that it hit Ali very badly on his knuckles. However, Ali continued to shoot even though his hand was swollen and he was in pain. He didn't create a scene and when the shooting got over he spoke about it, and Swapnil was very apologetic."
But what about the rumours regarding the revenge that Swapnil was taking on Ali? To this, Anant says, "Even I've heard of this. But after this incident, Swapnil was apologetic and he arranged for the ice for the actor and took care of him." Apparently, this sequence was being recorded and will be going to go on air.
Though Swapnil, as expected, has denied the rumours, he does confirm the incident. He says, "The incident did happen. In a comedy serial, there are a lot of improvisations. I was attempting an improvisation when this accident happened. It was a minor incident."
And regarding the rumours, he says very diplomatically, "There is no question of animosity between Ali and me. He is like an elder brother to me." Now, how clichd can one get!
