Dil Ka Chor

Ek aur Piyo(Swati)

One Night

Dil Ka Chor

Jai Walia walked into the museum dressed just like a tourist, shorts, t-shirt, cap and a raggedy packback. He made straight for the Mogul Gallery. It was packed, after all the new exhibition displaying the mogul paintings from various royal houses had just opened. But he was interested in only one paining'the painting of Mumtaz'a portrait of the famed Queen not been seen before, a buyer was willing to pay a several millions in US dollar to get it.

Pretending to be interested in seeing the works, Jai walked around looking at the exhibition, until he reached his target. He took out his camera to take a shot, but a security guard stopped him, "No photography allowed sir." Jai shrugged and tucked his camera away.

"Beautiful'wasn't she?" a soft female voice asked close to him.

Jai Walia turned and looked at the young woman dressed in a flowing long black skirt and a garishly embroidered kurta top. Her long hair had been pulled back from her face and her sunglasses perched on top of her head. She smiled at him. Jai returned the smile'she had a beautiful smile he noted.

"Yes she was. No wonder the Shah Jahan was moved to build the Taj for her." Jai replied, somewhat dreamily.

"You deal in art sir? By the way my name is Bani." She held out an immaculately manicured hand towards him, the nails painted bright red.

"Jai'no I am just an amateur'just like beautiful works of art." Jai replied, shaking her soft hand.

"Do you want to go for coffee afterwards?" Bani asked.

Jai arched his brow at her in surprise, not many woman invited men for coffee. He nodded, "Yes. I am just about done. Let me know when you want to go."

Bani tucked her arm through his, "I am done too. Too many people today, I think I will come back when it's quiet."

They walked out of the museum and Jai walked with her to a coffee bar few building down the road. She seemed familiar with the area he noted. They took a seat at an empty table and gave their ordered. He smiled, she had a sweet tooth, white chocolate frappuccino and a slice of chocolate cake.

"So Jai'what do you do in life?" Bani asked relaxing back in her chair.

"Nothing much at the moment. I freelance for an art magazine. Was thinking of doing an article on the Mogul art, that's why I went to the museum. What about you?"

"I work for a small art gallery in Pune. Nothing fancy like this'mostly local artists. I took a week off to come for the exhibition." Bani replied.

The waiter left their order and went.

Bani screwed her face as she looked at his black coffee, "How can you drink that without anything?"

Jai laughed and pointed at her cream laden cup, "How can you spoil the taste of the coffee with all that junk?"

"It's divine'just like the cake'I love chocolate. Want to try?" Bani pushed the plate towards him.

Jai shook his head, "No thanks'I hate chocolate. Plus all that sugar it's bad for you."

Bani licked the spoon and grinned, "You only die once Jai'might as well enjoy all this sinful goodies before you go."

Jai watched as pink tongue lick her lips with enjoyment. He was fascinated by her. They talked casually for a while, Jai went through two more cups of black coffee. Bani savoured her chocolate creation slowly.

After some time, Jai looked at his watch. "I have to leave Bani. Got to run some errands. It was nice meeting you."

Bani took out a pad and wrote her name, the hotel where she was staying and her cell phone number. She tore it and held it out to him, "If you want to get in touch with me'I would happy to hear from you." Jai took the paper and tucked it in his shorts pocket. "Thanks. "

Bani held her cell phone up and took a snap with the camera mode and smiled at him. "One for my keep. Who knows'when we might see each other again."

Jai put his cap on. "You never know Bani. Have a great stay in Mumbai."

Bani sat and watched him walk off. She liked how he looked, tall, with broad shoulders, muscular legs and body, but she liked his jet black hair, casually styled and the matching black eyes.

Later Jai sat in his room studying the layout of the museum, including the video on playing on his laptop, provided by the mystery buyer. The video showed the security features in the building, including cameras, the guards and the surveillance room. Jai knew it wasn't going to be easy to break into the museum, if he was to steal the painting than it had to be done during daylight'during the time the museum was open. He sat and thought of ways to do it. He needed to think of something'something that would be work, be quick and easy too.

The piece of paper with Bani's detail fell out of his pocket as he emptied them at night. He smiled and tucked it away in a drawer. He fell asleep quickly, but he dreamt'he dreamt of Bani'meeting her in various places'her face smiling at him.

Couple of days later, Jai put on a dress pant and a casual shirt. He gelled his hair back neatly and perched the fake glasses on. He looked at himself. The fake moustache that he had added did change is face somewhat. He picked up the briefcase and walked out of the apartment.

Once again he walked into the museum. This time he went up a floor and walked around. After some time he went into the bathroom. In one of the stall he pulled out a newspapers dumped them on the floor. He lit a cigarette, broke it in half and then lit it. When it was smoking, he dropped it on the paper and watched it smoulder. He exited the stall and quickly came out and went downt he stairs. He had about couple of minutes to reach the mogul gallery before the alarm would go off, and then one minute to do the switch of the painting and leave before the museum locked out.

As he walked into the room, he made his way towards the painting of mumtaz. He looked at his watch and then counted slowly, 20, 10, 18'right on the dot the alarm went off and people started screaming and running. He gave five seconds for the camera to be turned off'his mystery had arranged for this to be done for him. He had a minute to do his job before the camera came on again. Quickly Jai lifted the painting off and swiftly opened the back and took out the canvas. Rolling it up, he put it in his briefcase, unrolling the fake and placing it in the frame. He had just put the frame back on and picked up his bag when a guard ran in, "Oye'what are you doing still in here'can't you hear the alarm bell. Jai pretended not to hear. The guard walked up angrily and gripped his arm and yelled. The guard turned Jai around. Jai pretended to be deaf. He made some horrible garble sounds. The guard glared at him, "Idiot'he is deaf. No wonder he is still standing here."

The guard pointed at the doors and screamed, "Leave'now. Fire in the building."

Jai pretended that he understood and went scrambling towards the door with the guard following him. Outside a crowd had gathered, Jai went into the crowd and then pushed his way out and took a taxi. He sat back relaxed in the taxi, wiping the sweat that had built up on his brow. The grip on the briefcase eased. Behind him another taxi was following him, Jai failed to see it.

When he reached home, Jai took out the painting and took a quick look at it before, rolling it up and putting it in a special container. He placed the container in the back of his wardrobe among his other stuff.

That evening he sat in his balcony savouring a glass of scotch. He had ordered a special meal and eat with relish, celebrating the success of his job alone. Now sipping his scotch, his mind wandered towards Bani. He had been dreaming every night about her since their meeting. He wondered what she was doing. He got up and took out the paper with her number and dialed it. After couple of ring he heard her voice.

"HI Bani. It's Jai'remember we met at the museum."

He heard her tinkling laughter. "I thought you had forgotten me Jai. How are you?"

"Fine. Say do you want to come over to my house for dinner tomorrow night'say around seven."

There was a pause at the other end, then Bani said, "Sure'I would love to. I might just be a little late. As I have an meeting with someone around six."

"That's fine. I shall be waiting for you. Goodnight." Jai cut the call off.

That night Jai dreamt of making love to Bani.

XXXXX

Jai opened the door to see Bani standing there with a bottle of wine. "Hi!" she said brightly, reaching up and pecking his cheek.

"Hi." He said and took the wine bottle she held out. "You look gorgeous," he said while staring openly at her. Bani was wearing a white sundress with light embroidery around the scoop neckline and short sleeve. Her tan skin was set off perfectly by the dress.

"Thanks." Bani walked in behind him, looking at the cluttered room. Jai pointed at the lumpy couch. "You can sit down while I pour this out in glasses for us."

Bani sat down on the couch and her eye fell on the books on art on the coffee table. She picked one up and started to flip through. Jai came back with two glasses of wine, he handed one to her.

Bani raised it up, "Here to the evening Jai." Jai clinked it with hers and took a sip. He sat down next to her and watched her look through the book, commenting now and then on a page. Her liked her slender neck, the perfectly sized ears, which had long dangling earrings on. Her hair had been plaited in a French braid'a pity he thought, it would be nice to run his fingers through the silky sheath. As if becoming aware of his gaze, Bani turned and arched her brow in question.

Jai smiled, "Nothing'just admiring a perfect picture in front of me." Bani blushed and took a gulp from the wine glass. Immediately she felt a warm rush in her stomach. Jai set his glass down and ran his finger down her arm, "I have been thinking about you a lot'in fact'you have been invading my sleep every night." His voice was low and sensuous'Bani felt her stomach turn. Those black eyes that she liked, were gleaming black and had a sensuous gaze in it. Jai leaned over and placed her glass on the table. He gently tugged her so that she fell lightly on his chest. With ease he titled her face up and brushed his rather dry lips on hers. He felt her shiver and her fingers grip his shoulder. Jai kissed her little harder and evoked a response from her. Within few seconds they were kissing passionately.

When he finally let go of her, both of them took deep drags of breath. Jai cleared his throat loudly. "I think we should eat dinner, what do you say'before that wine gets to our head too much."

Bani laughed soflty, "Is that what you are trying to put it down to'I thought you kissed me because you wanted too."

Jai gave a bashful look. "Well'I did. But I don't want things to go elsewhere for now."

"So cute." Bani said as she followed him. The small table in kitchen was already set out for two settings. Bani sat down as Jai served her grilled chicken, rice and vegetable sabzi with salad at the side. He poured some more wine out for them. They ate while talking about various artists they liked. When they finished eating the bottle wine had been consumed and Jai had opened another one. Bani helped him clear up and then both of them went back to the room.

Bani did not know whether it was the wine or Jai's pleasant company, but both them were soon kissing each other with passion. When Jai carried her to the bed, Bani did not protest, for her it seemed something that was bound to happen between the two of them.

Bani lay awake next to Jai'listening to his gentle snoring. She felt her body still tingling with their passionate lovemaking. The way his lips and hands had roved over her, gave her goosebumps thinking about it. After sometime when she was sure he was fast asleep, she slipped out of bed and put on her discarded clothes. With smooth and silent grace she searched his room looking for the Mumtaz's painting that she had seen him steal from the museum. It was her luck that he had not seen her as she had been near a door surrounded by others. But when the alarm went off, she had turned and stood waiting for others in front of her to move. She had not panicked and pushed like the others. It was just as she left the room and then decided to turn around, she had seen take the painting off. She had been rooted to the spot, until she had heard the guard shout at her, and she had fled.

When she discovered the round cylinder in the back of the wardrobe, she pulled it out noiselessly, opened and made sure it held the painting. With a satisfied smile, she exited the apartment with the cylinder.

XXXXX

Jai woke in the morning disappointed at not finding Bani in bed. He stretched luxuriously thinking about the feel of her last night as she lay beneath him. Well he had not expected her to stay, most of the time such casual affair ended with either him leaving or the girl leaving while the other was asleep. He got up lazily and showered. There was nothing much to do'except wait for the call from his buyer.

Two days later, the phone rang furiously in Jai's apartment. Jai unlocked the door quickly and ran for the phone. 'Hi!" He said breathlessly. Jai listened intently, his face paled and then he slammed the phone down and turned on the TV'there on all the news channel was the story of the stolen Mumtaz painting. He rushed into the room and looked for the cylinder in the wardrobe but it was not there. Stuck to the door of the wardrobe was a note, it just said "Sorry!" Jai ripped it off angrily and threw it away. How could she have fooled him? Why didn't he sense anything wrong with her?

Jai sat and listened to the news caster saying something about the original being returned anonymously with some bullshit story of having been discovered somewhere on the street. Jai ran his hands through his hair'he had just lost the chance to make some decent money'enough for him to take a long break away from this game. All his plans ruined by Bani. Suddenly he laughed as a thought occurred to him. May be she was a lot smarter than she looked. May be she was hired by someone to privately guard the collection'he had not seen her that day at the museum'but there was nothing to say she wasn't there. He was tempted to pick up the phone and call her, but he did not. He will wait and see what happened.

Jai returned the amount advanced to him by the client with an apology. He did not want to keep the money, which to him now seemed dirty. And he did not attempt to go back to the museum to see the painting again'though the urge was strong in him.

A couple of weeks passed and Jai just tried to forget about Bani, which was proving to impossible. The woman had just managed to dig her nails into his skin. Those dreams of making love to her were intense as before, even though he had experienced the reality.

One day when he had been napping on the sofa, the door bell rang few times. Jai woke up groggily and went to open the door. There stood Bani with a bottle of wine in her hand and a smile on her face.

"Hi!" she said. Jai stood staring at her.

"Are you still mad?" she asked with a smile.

Jai couldn't help but smile, he shook his head.

"Can I come in?" she asked. Jai stepped aside to let her in. He did not take the bottle of wine from her, saying he had learnt a valuable lesson from last time. Bani smiled.

"Are you saying it was that bad'our lovemaking."

Jai coloured and stammered quickly, "No..ooo."

He paused, "You stole my painting." He accused.

Bani arched her shapely brow, "Yours? I thought it belongs to someone else."

Jai grimaced, "You knew I took it."

Bani nodded, "Yes, I saw you steal it. I bugged me'so I decided to steal it back and return it back to the museum. I hope you didn't mind."

Jai laughed, "I didn't, but my client is mad with me. And I lost a lot of money."

Bani laughed with him. Then she looked at him seriously, "Is it all about the money with you? Is that what you really do? Steal art pieces for this dirty buyers."

Jai nodded, "Well it's not really about the money...Just the thrill of holding the original piece in your hand. Just think of that painting'in your hands."

Bani shook her head. "It's still stealing'something which does not belong to you. It's heritage of the country too." With soft look she leaned over and ran and her hand down his face. "You know I am in love with you. I tried to fall out'calling you all sorts of name. Forcing myself to hate you'but it didn't work. What shall I do about it Dil Ka Chor?"

Her confession made him blush. He just stared at her with surprise, until the words sank in and then he reached over and pulled her into his arms. "I think it's you that has stolen my heart. I can't get you out of my system. What say you to getting married?"

Bani pulled back a little, "Do you promise to give this bad habit of yours?"

Jai nodded, "I will try."

Bani tugged at his shirt, "YOU will not try'you will do it. Then I will marry you."

Jai took her hands into his and kissed each of her fingers, "Ok'I will. Now'when do you want to get married? And do I have to wait to make you my wife before making love to you again?"

Bani pushed him down and hit him lightly on the chest. "Yes'I am going to make you wait'it's your punishment for stealing such a beautiful painting." Jai rolled his eyes and then pulling her on top of him and kissing her, "At least I should be allowed to kiss you." And then proceeded to do exactly that.

THE END

Ek aur piyo

"paye lagu aunty" Tarun touched the feet of his best friend's mother, Krishna Walia.

"Jeete rahu beta." Krishna lovingly kissed the forehead of Tarun.

"Where is Jai aunty? Is he ready or not?" Tarun said, tucking a ladoo that Krishna held in front of his mouth.

"Upar hoga…kamre mei..aur kahaan." Krishna said, pointing towards the stairs.

"Aunty…you make the best ladoo…Jai is lucky. My mother doesn't know how to make any sweets." Tarun cribbed as he helped himself to another one.

"Thank you Tarun, tere sivai koi nahi kayega isse…Jai toh har time…mom too much cholesterol…aur usske papa…doctor ne mana kiya. Aaj hi subah maine banaye…Shiv bhagwan ka Prasad ke liye."

"Don't worry aunty…main hoon na." Tarun took two more and walked up the stairs taking two at a time. Krishna smiled…her home just brightened up whenever Tarun came. Unlike her sober son…Tarun was full of masti.

Tarun barged into Jai's bedroom, "hey guru…forgot we are going out?" He flopped down on the bed and stared at Jai, busy punching keys away on his laptop.

"Come on give it a rest guru…"

Jai stopped typing and closed his laptop. He frowned at Tarun stuffing ladoo in his mouth. "Stop calling me guru…you know I hate it. And where are we going?"

"Party…at Pushkar's…I phoned you last week…remember." Tarun licked his lips, cleaning the sugary residue left on the skin.

Jai jumped up from his chair, "Oh…shit..I forgot. Give me two minutes…" From his wardrobe, Jai pulled out a pant and shirt and rushed into the bathroom. Two minutes later he came out, rubbing gel into his hair. After a quick squirt of a cologne, he turned to Tarun, "Do I need a gift?"

"Nope!" Tarun got up from the bed, putting his arm around Jai, "This is bhang party. Drink bhang and dance away with some pretty girls."

"Does mom know where we are going? I promised I would take her to mandir." Jai said with a worried expression on his face.

"Nope…aunty will not hear a word about it. And you will be back in time to take her to mandir."

Krishna smiled as Jai and Tarun came down. "Where are you going?" she asked.

"Pushkar's mom. I will be back in time to take you to mandir." Jai replied, kissing Krishna's cheek. "See you mom."

"Say hello to Sarla aunty. Tell her to come by when she has time." Krishna called out after them.

Jai sat down in Tarun's black Honda Si Coupe. The windows were tinted dark and loud music blasted out as soon as Tarun turned the key.

Jai turned the volume down, "You are going to go deaf soon Tarun…how can you drive with such a loud music.

"I like it loud…keeps me awake." Tarun said with a grin.

Within half an hour they reached Pushkar's house in Juhu suburbia. Several cars were crammed on the driveway. Tarun parked his car and they walked into the house. Few people they knew where already there. Pushkar came up to them, "About time…I thought you guys were never coming. Come on…we are all going in the back garden. Hey Tarun…guess who is here?"

"who?" Tarun asked with exuberance.

"Roshni Chopra…remember…Shimla…she wouldn't leave you alone." Pushkar said with huge grin on his face.

"Oh no…not her! I thought may be your that hot cousin of yours…the model."

"Pia…yes she is coming with her sisters." Pushkar said and then glaring at Tarun, "You better behave with her. She is not that kind of girl."

Tarun looked innocent, "What do you mean? I do behave with girls."

Pushkar and Tarun both laughed, "Yeah…liar!"

Roshni Chopra made a beeline for Tarun as soon as she saw him. Dressed in a black off the shoulder top and a jeans. "Hi…Tarun. What a surprise! You look great." She said, eyeing Tarun in his fitted t-shirt and ripped jeans. And then looking curiously at Jai, "and who is your friend?"

"Jai…Jai Walia." Tarun said with a tight smile on his face.

Roshni's eyes grew wide, "The Jai Walia…the one who owns WGI company."

Tarun put his arms lightly around her and whispered, "The same…only don't make a fuss he doesn't like it. He is very rich and the most sought after bachelor."

Roshni pushed Tarun's arm off, "Hi Jai…I am Roshni."

Jai gave her a somber look. "Hi Ms Chopra." Roshni smirked, "Please…call me Roshni…we are just all friends here."

Pushkar came up carrying couple of glass, "Here guys…piyo. What about you Roshni?"

Roshni shook her head, "No thanks Pushkar…I want my head clear. Don't want to make a fool of myself."

"Ok…if you excuse us…I am going to take this guys away to meet some of the other guests."

Roshni grimaced, "do you have to? I can introduce them."

"No Roshni…you don't know everybody. Don't worry I will bring Tarun back for you."

Roshni stared at Jai. "and Jai too."

Tarun sniggered as they walked away. "Guess she is besotted by Mr Bachelor here…the hot shot Jai Walia."

"You didn't tell her that Tarun…she is gold digger." Pushkar said, rolling his eyes.

"Well as long as she isn't digging after me…who cares?" Tarun said taking a long drink from his glass.

A girl in bright pink salwaar khameez waved at Pushkar, her long brown curls moving about her face. "Pia!" Pushkar called out. Pia came over dragging behind her, her sister Bani.

Pia kissed Pushkar on his cheek, "Hi! Thanks for inviting us."

Pushkar looked at Bani looking disinterestedly around her, "Hi Bani…what's up?"

Bani smiled slowly, her face glowing with tender expression, "Hi Pushkar Bhaiya. How are you?"

Pushkar gave her a hug, which seemed to embarrass Bani, as she blushed. "I am fine. Finished with your MBA?"

Bani nodded, "Yep…no more school. I just have to get a job now."

"Hmm…then come and meet my friend…Tarun Sablok…the hot shot young lawyer with Mehta and Partners. And this is Jai Walia…his father owns WGI."

Bani's face perked up. "The hotel management corporation?" she asked, her eyes now roving over Jai's face. Jai just smiled at her.

Tarun held out his hand, "Yep the same…by the way ignore him. He is shy around women." He said as he shook both Bani and Pia's hand.

If looks could kill, then Tarun would have as Jai gave him a murderous look. He forwarded his hands, "Nice to meet you ladies. Ignore my friend…at least I don't go around chasing women like him."

Pia giggled and Bani gave Tarun a, 'keep away from me' look.

Tarun gazed at Pia, liking how pretty and hot she looked. "Would you like a drink ladies?"

Pia replied, "Juice please for both of us."

"No bhang…come one just one glass."

Bani looked at Pia and then "I will have some. I haven't tried it for a long time."

Pia glaring at Bani, "No you won't…Papa said not to touch it."

Bani shrugged, "papa is not here…then what was the point of coming here."

Tarun smiled slyly, "Juice it is then."

Tarun went off and picked up two glasses of juice. He poured out half the juice from one of the glass and added bhang to it. This was going to be fun, he chuckled to himself. He handed the glasses to Pia and Bani. Bani took a sip of her and then smiled at Tarun. Jai looked at the smug smile on Tarun's face.

They sat down in the chairs strewn about the lawn. Bani downed her glass, her head already feeling light. "Can I get another one Tarunji…same type."

Jai stood up, "I will go…" Tarun pushed him down, "No entertain them…I will go. I know what juice it was."

Bani moved her chair nearer Jai, "So Mr Walia…do you think your company can use an MBA grad? I am looking for an entry level position in a financial department."

Jai smiled, "We are always looking for people Bani. May be you should send your CV in to our human resources people."

Bani laughed, "You know I have already done that…but you and I know…it doesn't work that way in this economy. Sometimes it's who you know inside the company, that can land you the job." Her eyes fired a 'who are you kidding' look at him.

Tarun returned with a tray of drinks, two juice glasses and two with bhang. He handed Bani her glass with a wink and Jai the bhang. Jai refused, Tarun pushed, "Ek your piyo…Jai. You have only had one." Bani downed her glass and then eyed Jai's bhang. She laughed girlishly, "I will have his if he doesn't want it."

Jai grabbed the glass, "No…you won't. I think you forgot what your daddy told you."

Bani gave him a bidaas look. "I like to not follow daddy's order sometime. It's more fun to do things they don't want you to."

Pia gave a worried look, 'Bani are you alright! I think may be the sun is getting to your head, We should sit in the shade." Bani scowled at Pia. "I am fine. Why did you bring me this boring party then?"

Tarun smirked, "You find it boring Bani…let's liven it up. How about some dancing music?

Bani nodded her head wildly, the bhang getting hold of her senses now. Her long hair flew across Jai's face, it's silky texture felt like a flutter of butterfly's wings. She stood up and pulled at Jai's arm, "Come on Mr Walia…let's dance."

Jai shook his head, "No…not me…take Tarun." Bani stood with her dark brown eyes challenging him, "Scared of making a fool of yourself…Mr Walia."

The golden glints in her eyes from the sun and her slightly flushed face made Jai stare at her. She wasn't as pretty as her sister, but she seemed to have this inner attraction, which the bhang seemed to have made it surface. Jai knew Tarun had probably laced her drink with bhang. He stood up reluctantly, feeling the need to keep an eye on her. "Excuse me Pia," he said as he followed Bani, who was already moving to the music now.

Jai and Bani joined the bunch of people dancing on the lawn. Tarun came back to Pia, "do you want to dance?"

Pia stood up, 'Yes why not…I better keep an eye on Bani. She is behaving not like her self."

"May be it's Jai's charm. She is attracted to him…what do you think?" Tarun asked as they joined the dancing. Pia looked at Bani dancing with Jai, "He is so serious. Is he always like that? Can't see why Bani would finding him attractive!"

Tarun grinned, "I am afraid Jai is not the life of a party…takes his responsibilities seriously. I think he is mamma's boy too, scared of upsetting his mother."

Pia smiled, "That's not bad. After all he has family reputation to think about. Same as we do. God …No…I have to go and stop her." Pia moved away as she saw Bani grabbing a glass of bhang and drinking it. Tarun followed her and had a huge grin on his face as he looked at the shocked look on Jai's face and satisfied smirk on Bani's.

"Bani…let's go home." Pia said as she took hold of her arm.

"No!" Bani prostested loudly. Pushkar rushed up to them. "What's wrong guys?" he asked as he looked at tipsy Bani, who was giggling non stop now. And Pia who had a woeful look on her face.

"She is drunk Pushkar. Tell her to come home with me." Pia pleaded. Pushkar glared at Tarun, noting the silly grin on Tarun's face.

"Why don't you take her inside? You can take her to one of guestroom, she can sleep it off before you go home." Bani pushed Pia away, "go away Pia and have fun…leave me alone. I am having fun with Mr Walia…he is good dancer. I want to dance with him." Bani pushed at both Pia and Pushkar who tried to grab her arm.

Tarun pushed at Jai, "Why don't you take her inside? She might go with you."

Jai sighed, "Bani…lets go inside." He gave her steely look, his lips pursed tight.

Bani looked at Pia and Pushkar, both looking desperate. "Ok…I will go in with Mr Walia. But he has to keep me company."

Tarun winked at Jai, who wanted to strangle Tarun. Jai took hold of Bani's arm, "let's go."

Jai took her upstairs to the room Pushkar had given directions for. It was a small room with a bed and a dresser. He sat her down on the bed. "I am going to get a glass of water. Don't move."

Bani nodded and curled up on the bed. Her head was really starting to hurt her now. Jai came back with a glass of water and sat her up, "Drink this…It will help."

Bani took few sips of water and then burped. "Sorry…" she giggled. Jai sat the glass down. Bani sat looking at him. "Are you always so boring Mr Walia?" she asked.

"No…why do you find me boring? Because I am not making silly conversation!" Jai asked with his brow arched.

"No…because you are sitting like a dumb mute. I mean don't you feel like talking to me?" she asked with a pout. Jai looked at her, her cheeks were bright red now and her eyes slightly glazed.

"Lie down…you will feel better."

"Only if you sit near me. I don't like you sitting there and giving me those awful looks." Bani said, moving up and sitting near the headrest. Jai sighed, "Ok…promise you will go to sleep."

Bani nodded. Jai sat close to her as Bani slid down and laid her head on the pillow.

"Mr Walia…can I come and see about a job?" she asked with her eyes staring into his.

"We will see." Jai said shifting his eyes away from her. She was making him feel nervous.

"Say yes…please." She asked in a screeching voice.

"Ok…now close your eyes like a good little girl."

Bani sat up and flung her arms around him, "Thank you…Thank you…Thank you." She peppered his face with kisses, her lips finally crashing on his. Jai stilled and so did Bani. Neither moved. Bani sighed against his lips and kissed him again. Jai felt himself kissing her back.

Sarla Shukla stopped dead in her track and stared through half open door. She stopped the scream coming out of her mouth by clamping her hand on it. She quickly closed the door and then almost ran mumbling loudly, "oh no…how could he…I thought he was such a good boy…what now…how am going to…" She stopped in front of the phone and punched in Krishna Walia's number.

When Krishna answered the phone, Sarla started her ranting, "Krishna…how could he…how could Jai do this…and that too with my niece…how am I going to face my brother…so shameful…in broad daylight and in my home…what am going to do now?"

Krishna shook the phone as if that would stop Sarla's screeching. "Sarla…what is wrong…what did Jai do? Isn't he at the party at your house?"

"Yes…he is here…sleeping in my guestroom with my niece…shameless boy…what am I going to tell Nishi?"

Krishna looked in disbelief at the phone receiver, 'did she hear right? Her jai would never do that.' " I am coming right over," Krishna slammed the phone down and drove the car to Sarla's house.

Sarla opened the door to the bedroom, Krishna gasped at the sight. She marched into the room and twisted Jai's ear. "You get off that bed right now Jai Walia. How could you do this to us? Never thought you would shame me this way."

Jai and Bani both woke and sat up, staring at Sarla and Krishna. Jai rubbed his ear, "What's wrong maa…what did I do?"

Krishna pointed at Bani. "You…you…what are you doing in bed with her?" she spluttered.

Jai looked at Bani yawning, "Nothing…we fell asleep that's all. Bani was feeling a bit tipsy."

Sarla glared at Bani, who was looking amused at the two angry ladies in front of her. "Honest aunty nothing happened. We just kissed…nothing else. You know I wouldn't do…that sort of thing." Bani said with a silly grin on her face.

"You…kissed. Bani Dixit. What do I tell your father?" Sarla screamed at her.

Bani shrugged, "The truth…nothing happened. And it wasn't Jai's fault. I kissed him."

Krishna now glared at Sarla. "See…it's your niece…who is shameless…kissing my son…spoiling his name." Sarla threw her hand up in the air, "I don't care who kissed who…what are we going to do about it?"

"Nothing aunty." Jai said getting off the bed.

"Nothing…nothing. Jai Walia…you are going to marry my niece…right now…right this minute. I am going to call Nishikant and the pandit."

Krishna laughed, "Sarla…don't be silly. Why don't you just forget it? It was just something silly Bani did."

Bani smiled at Sarla, "Aunty…don't do anything silly. I had a little bhang and got a bit light headed and kissed him. It was just a friendly kiss."

Sarla shook her head, "There is no such thing as friendly kiss…Bani. Jai Walia, you will marry my niece, I am not going to let you two get away with this kind of behavior."

Krishna sighed, "Jai do you like Bani?"

Jai looked at Bani, sitting with a grin on her face and staring shamelessly at him.

"Maa…can't we talk in private?"

"No…you were caught in bed with the girl…and you have to do the right thing." Krishna said with a deep sigh. She gazed with concealed curiosity at the girl sitting on the bed. Bani…she didn't look too bad and if she was Sarla's niece than it was safe that she wasn't like some of this daughter's of her other society friends.

Krishna pulled Sarla out of the room, "come on we have to talk." Jai and Bani looked at each other. Jai sat down, "You are trouble maker aren't you? See what mess we are in now. And knowing my mother and your aunt…they are probably cooking something up."

Bani twisted the bed sheet and said in a high pitch voice, "I guess your mother thinks I am a loose girl…someone not good enough for you."

Jai shook his head, "No…she wouldn't. I am sure when they have calmed down, they will see the silliness. Anyway…it's your fault for drinking bhang when your sister told you no."

"And what about your friend? Spiking my drink…" Bani asked with her cheeks now inflamed from his accusation.

Jai shrugged, "You shouldn't have drunk the juice, if you knew it had bhang in it."

Bani now ready to dig her claws into him, "I don't see why it's ok for you guys drink and get silly drunk, and we girls have to watch you be stupid…sipping silly fruit juice."

Jai put his hands up, "Hey…don't shout at me. I don't make the rule…your dad and your sister did."

Bani got off the bed. "I am going home now. You can tell Sarla aunty…I don't like you and am not marrying you."

Bani reached the door, but was stopped by Jai, yanking her back, "What's wrong with me? Why don't you like me?"

"Because you are arrogant, boring and not so…not so great looking." Bani screamed at him.

Sarla and Krishna came out of a room, "Why are you two fighting?"

"We are not fighting mom. Just clarifying some point with her." Jai replied.

Krishna smiled at Bani, "Well you can do that later on…come on Jai we are going home. Bani we will come down to see your parents in a few days to sort this out."

Bani smirked at Jai, Jai glared at her as Krishna pulled along with her.

Sarla smacked Bani's head lightly, "Stop it Bani. You are such a bad girl. It must be influence of the college…Nishi shouldn't have sent you away. Anyway come downstairs…I have to phone your father."

"what about aunty?"

"Why your proposal? Krishna is officially asking for your hand. Aren't you lucky to get such a good rishta, and Jai is a nice boy?"

"But I don't like him aunty?" Bani wailed.

"What is there not to like about him? Now don't be childish. You will get to like him after you get married." Sarla said in a no nonsense voice.

XXXXXX

Tarun slipped a bottle of white liquid in Jai's pocket, "Here this will come in handy tonight."

Jai frowned, "What is it? And why do I need it?"

Tarun laughed in Jai's ear, "Bhang…you know…you can gulp it down…if you get nervous."

Jai tried to box Tarun's ear, but he moved too fast. Showing two thumbs up, Tarun ran away.

Jai sighed and opened his bedroom door. The room was decorated for his suhaag raat and his bride…Bani was fast asleep on his bed.

ONE NIGHT

He sat at the bar, nursing a cocktail'one she had introduced him to. Every time the door opened he turned his head towards, looking, hoping it was her that was walking in. And each time he turned back disappointed. The song in the back ground changed and he grimaced at the lyrics, "When a man loves a woman'" now he was going to have to sit through the song. He should really pay for his drink and leave'give up waiting for her. Yet he sat through the song and waited. When it was close to midnight he gave up and left for his hotel room.

Inside the dark room, Jai Walia did not bother turning on the light. Instead, he walked straight towards the couch, took off his jacket, loosened his tie and then sat down and removed his shoes. He wasn't sleepy and he did not want to lie and toss around in the bed. He picked up the remote and turned the TV on, flicking through channels and then settling for a news channel. The words coming from the TV went unheard by him, his mind to busy thinking about her'Bani'the woman he had met just over a year ago in the bar that he had visited.

He did not come to New York that often. He hated travelling but he had no choice but come. After a long grueling day, he had wandered the streets, enjoying the warm September night. The bar had seemed inviting and he stepped through the dark glass doors into dim atmosphere of the bar. Steel and black leather interior gleamed in the low light. Jazz music was playing softly through the strategically place sound system. Jai had perched himself on the bar and ordered his usual scotch. He had stuck up a conversation with the bar tender and was talking away when she had come in and sat down next to him.

"Scotch please." She had ordered. "Any ice?" the bartender had asked.

"No!" she had said stiffly.

Jai had looked at her from the corner of his eyes. She was dressed in a black suit, the jacket buttoned up over a crisp pale blue shirt. The skirt was short and it showed off her shapely legs. Her hair was short and straight barely touching her shoulder. The side profile showed a perfectly shaped nose and high cheek bones. She had turned her head as if aware of his glance. Her face was blank, her light brown eyes devoid of any feelings.

As soon as the bartender had placed the drink in front of her, she had taken a quick gulp and then sat the glass down. He watched as colour rose in her cheek from the burn of the golden liquid now spreading through her belly.

"May be you should add something to it." Jai had said. She had turned sharply and gave him a stony look, "I didn't ask for your advice. I can drink the stuff as is."

Jai had shrugged his shoulder, "Suit yourself. But I don't believe it's something you indulge in very often."

She had spluttered on her drink and banged the glass down. "God I don't believe this. I came in here for a quiet drink. I don't need a lecture after the day I have had today." The bartender handed her a napkin and she dabbed her lips with it. She pushed her drink away, "I will have a Mai Tai."

Bani had turned around and looked at him straight. "Can I buy you drink then? It's the least I can do for being so concerned about me."

Jai had raised his half filled glass, "No thanks. I have one. But you can tell me what's in this Mai tai that you just ordered."

Bani tapped her nail against the polished wood of the bar. "You don't know. It's cocktail, light and dark rum, some orange liqueur and lime juice. I hope you approve."

Jai had laughed softly, "Sounds exotic'can try it and then tell you if I approve?" he had asked.

Bani had pushed the cocktail glass forward, "Be my guest."

Jai had taken the sip of the slightly sweet and sour drink, "Not bad. I approve." Bani had taken the glass back and taken a sip through the straw. She had unbuttoned her jacket and taken it off. Feeling in the mood to talk, she had moved closer to Jai and then asked, "Are you new here?"

Jai nodded, "I am here for business. I actually live in India. What about you?"

"I was here on an internship. Been here almost a year, just had few more weeks to go." She had laughed a bit hysterically, "Well you know now I know what it feels like to be fired. I got a pink slip today'just like the rest of the people I worked with. So I guess I will be looking for another job tomorrow."

"That bad. What happened?" Jai asked.

She took another sip, "Well'the company has no money'it's filed for bankruptcy'can you imagine'one of the Wall Street company'going under."

Jai had given her a serious look, "I can believe it'businesses need money to run. If it's not managed well than obviously the money crunch comes. But I am sure you will get another job, you seem smart."

Bani had cocked her head to the side, her face had a soft pink glow now, "You think so'I am going to be lining up with hundreds other with a lot more experience than me for a job. "

They had got into a deep conversation regarding the economy, the recession; the global markets and both of them had consumed couple of more drinks. It was midnight and she had slid off the stool and put her coat on, "I should get going. Thanks for the company Jai."

"Wait I will walk with you." Jai had said and he had paid the bartender and walked out into cool night with her. They had walked couple of blocks when she had turned and stared at him, her warm brown eyes had a hint of loneliness in it. "Do you want to come back to my place? I can fix us something to eat."

Jai had not taken a second to rethink and had said yes. He wasn't accustomed to accepting invitations like this. Usually he tended to turn them down bluntly, but that night he did not. He wanted to get to know her better, he liked her, he liked listening to her talk, watch her face animate lively, her hands wave about as she talked.

They took a subway close to her apartment. Bani took out the key and inserted into the door of her apartment and then waited for him to walk in. A light was already burning in the hallway. She slipped out of her shoes and smiled at Jai as she showed him the way to the lounge. "I will just go and change and then fix up a meal."

The small apartment was tastefully furnished. There were books in bookshelves, newspaper piled on the coffee table along with couple of empty coffee mugs. Jai had taken off his jacket and laid it on a chair before sitting down. A few minutes later Bani had come back wearing casual pant and a t-shirt.

"I have some chicken and fish. What would you like?" she had asked.

"Either, whatever you prefer."

Bani had disappeared in the kitchen and few minutes later had come back with a beer bottle. "Would you like some beer?"

"Ok." Jai had taken the bottle and twisted the top off and taken a swig.

Half an hour later, they had sat down to a simple meal of Caesar salad, chicken and some boiled vegetables. Their conversation had turned to their families and friends, the schools and colleges they had gone to. It was two clock when Jai had yawned while they sat drinking the coffee.

"I think I should really go. I am keeping you up to." He had stood up to pick up his jacket when he had felt her arms go around him. "Don't go. Stay'I want you to stay. It's been such a long time since I have had a such a good company."

Jai had stilled for a few moments, trying to figure out whether it was the effects of alcohol she had drunk earlier or was she really in her senses to asking him to stay. He had turned around and titled her face up. Her eyes were inviting, they were crystal clear. As if to convince him, she had reached up and kissed him on the lips. Any doubts he had flew out the moment he felt her warm soft lips on his. He had ended up staying the night and the next two nights of his stay in New York.

After his meetings, he had met up with her and she had shown him around New York. They had dined out at one to swanky restaurant and then gone back to her place. It had been special, those couple of days with her. They had enjoyed each other's company, made passionate love several times and the moments together had been perfect.

Bani had come to see him off at the airport and had promised to let him know how she fared with finding a new job and to look him up if she returned back to India. The days had turned into weeks and then months. The initial emails and phone calls had slowly petered off after few weeks and then an odd one here and there and then nothing. His calls to the number she had given were not answered and then eventually he received the message of the number not in service. In desperation Jai had made a trip to New York, to her apartment to find that she no longer lived there. He had no idea how to find her. He had never asked her where she had lived in India either.

Jai had tried to forget her, yet he could not. He could not forget her or the time they had spent together, it was as if they were meant to meet and be together forever.

Today was his last night in New York and then he was flying out to Seattle in the next day. His hope of seeing her had been dashed. Jai eventually dozed off on the sofa just as the pale light of the morning filtered through the blinds.

He missed his flight in the afternoon and had taken one couple of hours later. It was an overcast day in Seattle as he stepped out of the airport and took a taxi to his hotel. Feeling too tired to go out, Jai ordered room service and half ate his meal and then went to sleep.

When he woke the next morning, it was to same dreary sky. Jai showered and got ready to go and meet his client. Grabbing a quick coffee in the restaurant downstairs, Jai took a taxi to the offices of his clients. The place seemed just like any other cities he had visited, except it seemed to rain here a lot he mused. The morning meeting went very well and Jai took a taxi back to the hotel. He had rest of the day to kill and decided to go out to the downtown and have a look around. The taxi dropped him off at near the art museum. Instead of going inside the museum, he took out the little guide book and decided to just walk around and see.

After couple of hours of walking and feeling tired, Jai walked into a caf. He ordered a cup of black coffee and sandwich. Jai flicked through the guide, reading up a little bit of information on places of interest. A familiar voice alerted his senses. He looked up and then looked at the woman, who bent over a stroller, lifting her baby out. Her long hair fell over, covering her face, but when she straightened, Jai felt his heart drop. It was her'it was Bani. He could never mistake that face.

She sat down with her back to him and took a milk bottle out of the bag and started feeding the baby. He could hear her soft voice cooing to her. Not able to sit where he was, Jai got up and went around to her table and stood looking down at her. Bani looked up and her voice stilled. Her eyes looked fearful.

"Nice to see you Bani." Jai said a little sarcastically as he took a seat opposite her. "I can see why you did the disappearing act without saying anything to me. I guess you didn't think fit to let me know you were leaving New York, that you had found someone else. I guess I should say congratulations. Do I get to meet the lucky guy?" Jai's gaze bored down on the Bani's bent head. He could see her hand shaking.

"Come on Bani. The least you could do is tell his name. By the way'cute baby. What is his name?"

"Atharva." She said softly, still not looking at him.

"Now is that the baby's name or the father's."

"The baby...There is no father'he left." Bani stammered as she replied.

Jai stiffened as he digested her words. His mind whizzed madly, trying to understand what she had just said. Then a suspicion grew in him, "How old is the baby?"

"Three months."

"Is it mine?" he asked sharply.

Bani's head shot up and she shook her head negatively. "No'just someone else I met after you left. He was one of guy I had worked with."

Jai looked at her with disbelief. "Are you lying? I hope you are not lying Bani." There was implied threat in his voice. Bani's eyes teared up, "I am not lying. That is why'I couldn't tell you. I felt guilty. I felt as if I had betrayed you." The baby pushed the tip of the bottle out and Bani set the bottle and laid held it near her shoulder and gently massaged it's back, trying to make the baby burp.

"Let me hold him then." Jai said as he reached over and took the baby. He cradled it and searched it's face'trying to find anything that resembled him. Somehow he was not convinced the baby not his. Somewhere inside him a voice was nagging him'the baby was his. After rocking it for a few minutes, he looked up. "I want to see the birth certificate and get a test done."

Bani flinched but tried to sound annoyed, "Why? It's my baby. You have no right to demand anything."

Jai held the baby close to him. "I think I have a right, if I am his father. And why are you scared, if you are not hiding anything."

"I am scared or hiding anything." She replied defensively.

Jai stood up holding the baby. "Fine then let's go. You can start by showing me the birth certificate." Bani stood up and took the baby and put it in stroller. She didn't want to create a scene. People were already looking at them. They walked in silent, Jai pushing the stroller. Few blocks down, they stopped in front of a house. Bani took the baby out and walked up the two steps and opened the door. Jai carried the stroller inside. Bani unlocked the door of the first room and let Jai come in. It was sparsely furnished. A single bed, a crib near the bed and a small wardrobe in a corner.

Bani put the baby in the crib as he had fallen asleep. Jai stood waiting for her. When she didn't move, Jai walked up to her, his eyes glaring at her, "Bani'I want to see the birth certificate."

Bani opened the wardrobe and took out an envelope and held it out to him. Jai took it and then pulled the certificate out.

"I won't let you take him. He is mine." Bani said with tears falling down her face.

Jai put the certificate back. He no longer felt angry. "Why didn't you tell me? I would have come back and tried to make things right!"

Bani shook her head, her hair flying across her face. "No. You would have hated me. You would have seen it as if I had tried to take advantage of you. It wouldn't have worked."

Jai ran his fingers through his hair frustratingly, "NO! I would never think that of you. I love you Bani. Do you know I did come back looking for you? But you had already left. I had no other way of finding out where you had gone. I still love you Bani. I was in New York yesterday. I had gone back to the bar, hoping I would meet you there again. What does that tell you?"

Bani sniffled and brushed her hand across her eyes. She looked at him through the tears. Jai couldn't take it anymore. In two strides he was in front of her and pulling her into his arms. "Hush'I am not mad. Please stop crying, so we can talk. I am not going to leave without you again."

XXXXX

Two days later, Jai and Bani stood in the public registrar office for a civil marriage ceremony. It had taken Jai a day to persuade Bani, it was the right thing to do and that he wasn't doing anything out of pity for her or the baby. Dressed in a simple white dress, she looked pretty. The wedding was over quickly. They picked up the marriage certificate and left to pick up the baby, who was being taken care of by a mother of one of Bani's friend.

Back at the room, Bani collected the small bag she had packed for her and baby and left with Jai to go back to his hotel. In two hours they would leave for the airport and a flight to India. Bani felt nervous. Things had moved in a fast motion. She was scared of facing her parents, his family.

Bani sat nursing Atharva while Jai went around packing up his stuff. He looked at her for a moment, "How come you were feeding him bottle yesterday?"

Bani blushed, "Well, one we were in a public place and secondly I have to give him bottle as this is not enough for him."

"Oh'" was all he said. When he was done, Jai sat down and looked at Bani rocking the baby. "Here give him to me. You must be tired."

Bani shook her head, "No'I am ok. He is almost asleep. I hope he is ok in the flight."

"He will be fine'we will be in business class anyway'so there will be plenty of room about. And you don't have to worry about breast feeding either."

Bani gave a nervous laugh. She laid Atharva down beside her and then fidgeted nervously.

"Are you nervous Bani?" he asked after watching for some minutes.

"Yes'"

"Why?"

"What if your family doesn't like me?" she asked.

"They will like you'I am sure they will be happy I finally got married and have a family."

"Still'they will want to know'details." Bani persisted, pulling at the tufts on the blanket covering Atharva.

Jai stood up and came up to her. He knelt down beside her and took her hands, "Look Bani'I don't care what they think. I just believe this is right for us, me, you and that is all that matter. Do you have regrets?"

Bani felt like crying, but held herself in check. "No' but it will still be hard to face my parents. They don't know anything that happened to me in the past year. I lied to them." Now the tears fell in full force and soon she was sobbing copiously. Jai took her in his arms and tried consoling her.

Their long flight left them exhausted. Initially the flight didn't seem to bother Atharva, but after the flight change, he acted up through the flight. Nothing seemed to soothe him. Bani was glad Jai was with her, she did not know how she would have coped if she had been alone.

Bani slept through the car ride to Jai's house. She woke up when Jai shook her. Bani stepped out and looked at the huge house in front of her. She blinked'she had only seen pictures of such houses but never imagined Jai's home being something like that. Clutching Atharva tightly to her, Bani followed Jai up the marble steps. A smartly dressed man opened the door and greeted Jai warmly. He smiled kindly at Bani. Before they could go any further, an elderly lady came up, dressed in silk sari and holding a thali with diya. "Wait there munna'you can't enter our home without my doing the arti to welcome our bahu."

The woman came us and did arti. She did tikka on both them and then blessed them both. "Here let me take my little grandson'Bani. Welcome to our home."

"Bani this is my masi. She stays with me."

Bani handed the baby over and then bent down to touch masi's feet. Masi took them into the family room where everyone was gathered. The room seemed full of people and Bani's felt a sickly feeling rising up, looking at the faces that were staring at her. One by one, Jai introduced his sister and her family. Bani tried her best to smile and respond but the tiredness and the nervousness of being among strangers made her slow to react.

"Jai, I think you and Bani must be tired'why don't you take her up and she can rest for a while. I will look after the baby and bring him up when he wakes up."

The bedroom seemed more like an apartment than a room to Bani. There was a separate sitting area, the bed, the huge closet and a gleaming marble bathroom. She fell asleep as soon as she put her head on the pillow and slept for fitfully until masi came and woke her up.

Bani sat up and took whimpering Atharva in her arms. "I think he is hungry, " masi said with a smile on her face. Bani nervously started feeding Atharva with masi sitting by. It was a strange feeling to see masi watching her in such an intimate moment. After a while, masi asked, "Bani, Jai didn't tell me anything about your family. May be later on we can have a little chat and perhaps invite them so I can meet them."

"Ji'masi." Bani said breathlessly. Sooner or later, she was going to have to call up her parents and tell them the truth.

"I am very happy that Jai has finally taken such a step'a little drastic but in the end, he is happy and that is what matters most to me. I hope you too will settle in with us Bani." Masi said, placing her hand on Bani's head. "Nothing is more important than the happiness of my children."

Bani felt little tears in her eyes, she had not expected such welcome from Jai's family. Half her worry was put aside for now.

Bani spent some time with masi, telling her about her parents and her sisters. Masi decided that in couple of day's time, when they were well rested, they should go down and see her parents. She would come with them as well.

Sleep did not come so easily to Bani. She was too aware of Jai sleeping beside her. Except for kissing her on the forehead, he had not tried to be intimate with her. Did he too need time to adjust to her and Atharva in his life? Bani slipped out of the bed and stood by the crib, looking down at Atharva, fast asleep, his little hand curled close to his mouth. She loved him so much'since the day she had found out she was pregnant, she had loved him.

Jai slipped his arms around her and rested his chin on her shoulder, "Can't sleep Bani?" he whispered. Bani nodded her head.

"He looks so cute Bani. I can't believe I have a son. Sometimes I feel as I am dreaming. I still think of sitting in the bar that night still waiting for you to arrive through the door." His arms tightened around her waist. Bani laid her hands on top of Jai's, his hands felt warm to her cool touch. She twisted slightly. "I love you Jai." She whispered near his ears. "I always have."

Jai turned her around completely and kissed her lightly on her lips. "I love you too Bani. All I ever wanted is you'ever since that night I met you. It's you that is forever on my mind."
