Amitabh Bachchan to play Jim Corbett in Priyadarshan's next, Grrr
| Priyadarshan is all set to make a film on wild tigers, titled Grrr, with Amitabh Bachchan in the title role. Talking about the film, Priyan says, "Grrr will be about the man-eating tigers of the Sunderbans. It'll belong to the same genre as Steven Spielberg's Jaws. Grrr is my first attempt at making a thriller." Wondering where Amitabh fits into all this? Well, Amitabh will play Jim Corbett, the fearless hunter and conservationist in Grrr. "I'm a big admirer of Jim Corbett and a huge fan of Amitji. It's only natural that I bring the two together when I can. Even though I've directed Amitji in several ads, it's been my dream to do a feature film with him. I was looking for a role that's worthy of his stature, experience and age. And who better than Jim Corbett?" questions the director.
Isn't Priyan scared of shooting in the Sunderbans that are home to a lot of Bengal tigers? "No, no! We won't be shooting in the Sunderbans. My unit and I cannot be a victim of the tigers. We will be shooting with animatronics (robots that look like animals), there'll be no real tigers. Otherwise, animal rights activists will eat me up before the tigers do," he jokes. |
