Vidya Balan in another period film

Vidya Balan arrived like a fresh breeze with 'Parineeta' and took everyone away by storm. This pristine faced actress had earned lots of accolades and acclamation for her work. And so it is obvious that the good film makers are lined up at her door to cast her in their film.

Ace director Rituparno Ghosh has signed her to play the lead for his latest work 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam'. Transforming a famous literary work on celluloid again, the actual piece dates back to history. The film had already been conceptualized once before in Hindi cinema, with big league stars like Meena Kumari, Waheeda Rahman and Guru Dutt in the lead. The first film on the literary piece was made in 1960.

For the modern version, Vidya Balan has been roped in to essay the role that Waheeda Rahman played on the screen. Pritish Nandy Communications makes the film and it is scheduled for release next year.

Apart from 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam', Vidya is also working on Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Eklavya'. Her kitty is at the moment full of good films.
