Yes it's not a decent phrase in Punjabi. I can't believe they used it.
My small nephew heard this song and he is singing it now! And it doesn't sound very decent.

They are not offended by the word marjaani but hazoor.

I think that its their jealousy that make them dig sharmless flaws where there is none OR maybe they want some attentions from the stars, that's alls that i can say ...its so stupid

I agree that this controversy is stupid...What happened is that some people thought the song was saying "Rab Ke Huzoor Ne Qasmein Bhi Kha Li" which means "God's prophet also made promises." If that were in fact the line, then yes, it would be a little offensive. But the line is actually "Rab Ke Huzoor Mein Qasmein Bhi Kha Li" which means "In the presence of God, I also made promises." So it's all about "Huzoor" having two different meanings.

That being said, I think Gulzar needs to be careful at times...he tends to use a lot of Islamic metaphors in his lyrics (example: taaweez bana ke pehnoon use aayat ki tarah mil jaaye kahin). Usually, they are harmless lyrics, but there may be times where they could offend people. My dad didn't like the way he used "Kaali Kamli Waale" in the song Kajra Re, because "Kaali Kamli Waale" is a name for the Prophet. I think I agree with my dad on that one. It was totally unnecessary. Anyway, no offense to anyone intended. I actually like Gulzar a lot. He's my second favorite current lyricist after Javed Akhtar...but just thought I'd point this out.
