Miss India-Earth 2002 Resshmi Ghosh (now with an extra S) will make her first stage performance in the last week of January.

The play in question is Godan, based on Munshi Premchand's novel by the same name and directed by Abner Renizald who plays a pivotal role in the play.
Godan is making a comeback of sorts; it has completed 20 shows and the last show was staged in December 2004.
The dusky Bengali beauty pageant winner will play Jhunia in the play. Jhunia is Hori (Abner Renizald) and Dhania (Hema Renizald, Abner's wife in real life).
Nothing better than stage
Resshmi replaces Yashashree (who did the last show in December last year) who opted out because she got some other lucrative assignments. Says Resshmi, "I know that I am stepping in someone else's shoes, but that's a great challenge. I love challenges in life. As it is, things have not been too hunky dory for me in the industry so far. Plus, I will utilise this opportunity to polish my acting and my Hindi. There can be no school better than stage to learn acting."
All three times unlucky
Resshmi has been in the entertainment industry for the last three years, but none of her films have released yet. One, Kalyani Singh and Maandeep Singh's Gehri Chaal (directed by Amol Shetge).
Two, Baba Film Productions' Tumse Milkar with Parveen Dabbas (directed by Adi Amaan). The third one being Adaa (starring Diana Hayden, Rajeev Singh), which is stuck due to Diana having objected to changes in the script.
She is hopeful that at least Banaras 1918 (directed by Ajay Mehra) where she plays Om Puri's daughter will see the light of day. "In Banaras 1918, I play the principled daughter of a principled daroga. My character undergoes a transition; I fall in love, marry and then land up as a tawaif in in a kotha."
Godan has completed 20 shows and the last show was staged in December 2004.
