The previous episodes (esp Monday's) showed Akshara's family go meet Rituraj's for the first time. I understand these might have been older trends, but I found it slightly ridiculous that Akshara's parents kept demeaning themselves and their family as the ladki-wale and insisted that everything should go the way that the ladke-wale wanted it. I mean I get that they were trying to be polite, but there is a difference in being polite and almost insulting oneself.

Akshara is not lacking in any way and they should have at least made a portayal of her parents being as confident and fearless of voicing their opinions - basically they should have attempted to show that Akshara's parents are proud enough of their daughter to not believe that they need to be "jhuke huye" because they are the girls parents.

This is just my opinion, and something that I found a little disturbing. No offense to anyone at all. :)

its very true a modern girl would think in those lines as U are.
But the reality is still the same. whatever shown is still happening & the ldki wale have to be still very polite and rather jhuke haye as u call it. otherwise there are still lots of chances that the relationship doesnt happen & if its there chances are that it breaks. so girls parents in the Indian culture are still very cautious. there may only be a very few % of people who are beyond all these.
so I would call it a very rightly portrayed thing in YRKKH

it wud b true in case of galz n families from mumbai, delhi n other metros but in smaller places like udaipur etc its still the same. when vish is so against love marriages how do u think his thinking will change in case of other issues. if it does then there will be character contradiction.

ps: the king is not saying tht ladkiwale shud demean themselves but only says tht as per the story n characters the behaviour was totally fine.

Hey sanwak and king,

I completely understand your perspective. And it is completely realistic as a portrayal. I was just wondering if showing the parents' attitude differently on the show would make at least a slight attempt to impact subtly such inappropriate mindsets in viewers themselves.

But yes, no qualms at all since the show is only being realistic.
