| MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment TV (Set) is set to launch the third season of its dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa from 27 February onwards. The show will be aired every Friday and Saturday at 9 pm. As reported earlier, the channel has already commissioned BBC Worldwide Productions India to produce the third and fourth season of the format. BBC Worldwide owns the original format of the show, Strictly Come Dancing. "This time our celebrities choice range is wider and the most phenomenal. The main challenge is to keep the format fresh as there is huge competition and fatigue for reality shows," says Set SVP and head of programming Gurdip Bhangoo. "Our team is putting up great efforts to bring the freshness. This time our punch line is 'Aaj Kyaa Naya Kiya' (What have you done new today)." Meanwhile, the channel is working out on the scheduling strategy of repeats of the show during IPL. "We will announce the scheduling of the show during IPL as we don't want our viewers to lose the matches or the show," says Set EVP and business head Albert Almeida. Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 - Dancing with the Stars will see celebrities from different walks of life such as sports, films, fashion, music and magic perform with professional dance partners. The season has 12 celebrities: veteran cricketer, commentator and cricket analyst Mohinder Amarnath (with Lilian); television actor Parul Chauhan (with Deepak); actor Ram Kapoor (with Marischa); super model Gauhar Khan (with Hanif); television actor Karan Singh Grover (with Nicole); former Bollywood actress Bhagyashree (with Toby); magician Ugesh Sarcar (with Tina); starlet Monica Bedi (with Javed); Chak De girl Shilpa Shukla (with Nishant); musician Anand Raj Anand (with Rozita) and the rapper Hard Kaur (with Savio). This time the show will have all-woman judges panel with dance guru Saroj Khan, Bollywood beauty Juhi Chawla and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant. Shweta Tiwari and Shiv Pandit will host the show. The voting pattern will follow a 50:50 ratio for judges and audiences. The bottom two pairs of the week will have to do a face off after which the judges will eliminate one pair. The channel is currently in the process of finalising the sponsors for the show. |
