Kajri is a horrible woman , undoubtedly . But Everything that shows woman power or stree shakti is there in Kajri , not in the betiyaan or even niyati upto this point.
1] Awareness of rights and no hesitation in using them : Kajri knows where the power lies . In Signatures , in shares of the estate , in holding the keys of the tijori . She doesnt waste a moment in hesitating but makes these rights her goals . The Betiyaan and Niyati on the other hand don't realise the value of these rights and give them up as if they were garbage or something. They talk of woman power but dont realise that these god given rights of a woman are to be valued , not to be abdicated .
2] Wanting to be a part of the Business , not just sit at home. : Yes she is not educated but she is the only one who demanded to go to the office , not just sit at home. The Betiyaan went to the office only after being forced to do so after suryas death .........not one of them showed interest in running the business on their own , as a private goal . They were content giving briefcases in the men's hands while they did poojas at home. Woman power lies in having full knowledge of what the man does .........not being ignorant of it. Uneducated Kajri has this sharp sense , not the educated Betiyaan .
3] Lastly , Not being dominated by any man . No man can dominate kajri , rather its the other way around . She is unafraid of any raised male voice , slap or threat . Infact , males r scared of her . Whereas the Betiyaan are always scared of their chauvinistic father or hurting their spoilt brother or their sasuraal and hence their husbands. They simply dont know to handle male domination.
It is so sad to see that all the real aspects of woman power lie in the villain Kajri , not in the heroines , the Betiyaan . Rather , they r a blot on womanhood .

Kajiri's character to me is portrayed as a woman who keeps her eyes on the prize. The one who sets her eyes on something that she wants and has to have. She's hell bent and very determined to get what she wants, it's like it becomes a mission for her to accomplish. She wont stop until she gets it and she wont let anything or anyone stand in her way of getting her prize.

While i agree that Kajri is portrayed as a woman of power, I don't think that's necessarily a good thing here. I think her ruthlessness is way over the top, and I actually think it helps to put women in a negative light.

There seems to be no middle ground on this show. Either you're "weak" like the Betiyann - yeah, you have your moments of "girl power" where you band together and fight for justice, but you don't really learn anything and end up getting burned again - or you're "ruthless" like the kothewaali Kaj and Ras - you know what you want, you get what you want, and you do a lot of disgusting things to get it. I think both types of characters on this show don't really show women in a good light. You're either a weakling or a witch - it doesn't make for good storylines, and it definitely doesn't empower women.

What happened to my Laxmi? I've been watching this show from the beginning, and she was the type of person who had no trouble trying to put wrong to right. Now, she's just in the background of the show, as much a puppet of Kajri's as everyone else is. Where is her fire? Where is her spirit? Did the creatives forget about how feisty Laxmi could be when someone messes with her mother and sisters? Or did Rohan rub off on her, and not in a good way?

Seriously, they need to give some fire back to the woman of this show, or just end it all together. The creatives need to show that you can be a clever woman and keep your eyes on the prize and still be a good person with good intentions. This show hasn't done that in a long time, if it ever did that in the first place (I haven't seen that cleverness since Kajri got exposed the first time around). Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if we see an article announcing the end of this show fairly soon!

yes , but unfortunately no one in the betiyaan has this quality of being focussed . Frankly , they simply r drifters with no goals.

Karan and Dev were undoubtedly two nice positive characters of this show . But my point is this show aims to show woman power and fails miserably when they show women so dumb that they dont even know what that power is and how to use it.

I agree with u .....thats the reason i said in the beginning itself that Kajri is horrible.
But my point is , cant they show a single character with this same strength , except that this character uses this strength for good purpose instead of negative purpose like Kajri ? Cant they show a single character who has kajri's practical sense but uses it to protect the family , not for selfishness ? Or a single daughter who has decided to help out in the family business and not just do poojas at home ?
Why did they take out all the fire from Jhumki for instance ? They cud have shown that others sign , but Jhumki knows her own kind two well and doesnt sign , that she can read Kajris evil mind much better than the sheltered daughters of the family . Or Niyati , who has been an orphan is tough to bully .
As far as Laxmi goes , they slaughtered her fighting spirit long ago . Laxmi always bowed before Menaka and she too shielded Yuvraj . The only person she gave tough fight was Karan who was in reality not so bad but a human character . The real bad ones who needed tough handling like her chauvinistic dad , stubborn grandma Baa , evil stepmom Menaka and spoilt brother Yuvraj were never ever given a tough fight by Laxmi . She always joined the others in sacrificing for these undeserving characters .
I wish they show immense strength not just in evil character , but also a good character and I wish to see how strength can be applied to good use !

I totally agree with this discussion.
Even I being a woman find nothing wrong in Kajri except that she is being portrayed as negative.
She knows what she wants and gets it by hook or crook, but who in this world doesnt try that?
I and am sure there are 1000s like me who wont mind Kajri gaining more and absolute control over everyone and everything.

the diffrence between kajri and the betiyaan is tat the betiyaan only talk of woman power but dont really know where it lies [ the signatures , control of estate vand business , the keys] whereas she is uneducated but knows where the power lies .

My Kuromi,.. I agree with you on everything you wrote, I could not put it any better.
However, I have noticed in many of these soaps women are shown as either not intelligent, weak, or very bitchy or revengeful. I am not very pleased when I see women in these rolls as we are in very bad times and it shows you that no matter how hard you pray or how hard one may try, negative women always win.
I think for women who are negative they will see this and think it is okay to be the way they are and not try to change for the betterment.
Yes we do get upset and angry and say things that are hurtful but at the end or some point you clam down ans are sorry for your earlier behaviour but these soaps tells you other wise.
We have Jigs of Kasamh Se, then we have Karj and Ras, Sindoora, Jiji etc....Time to stop protraying women in such negative ways. Let's see them as faithful mom,s and wifes, let's see them funny as hell or helpful and god fearing.
The world is filled of wicked peopel let's stop showing women as horriable human beings.
Sorry I did not mean to sound like a bore but this is my view.
