Hiya! I want to get into medicine as well... I live in the UK... I'm currently in college doing A levels... well to get into medicine (I don't know if it applys where u live) we are told to do Chemistry and Biology definitely at College as A level... as for the requirements different universites have different requirements... 4 tht it is best to check on the university website... they have the requirements for each course they offer
Other than that u have to do other things on the side like work experience at a hospital for instance and take part is other enrichments
Schools do usually provide such information so u shud see if there is any1 at the school u are currently studying at who cud give u advice and more information on it... I didn't really know much about it till I got into college where u learn a lot more about how to get into medicine etc

If im doing part-time, would i take core classes or IB-advanced classes?

Hmm... I am not sure if I'll be of much help to you since I live in the US.

But my biggest advice is to go see your guidance counselor if you are in school and if you are in university go find a medical adviser. They should have at least one person who's familiar with the medical schools.

I want into a medical school too. I graduated from high school last June and now I am a freshmen in University. I need to complete 4 years in undergraduate before applying to Med school.

From whatever I've heard so far, you need to take a lot of science courses of course but do also take some general courses. They like to see you interested in a variety of courses.

Get Lab experience. When you get to University, try meeting up with your science professors and ask them if they need help in research projects. A lot of them do a lot of research as well as teaching, and they almost always need help.

Also do community service and get a job. They don't only look for academic excellence but a proof well rounded students.

All the best to all those who're trying for the med school!!!

I live in Toronto - Usually to become a doctor here, you'll need to do your BSc in Life Sciences at any university you wish to. Then apply to med school. Thats the basic - for more information, I think you should ask your school/guidance counsellors.

Most universities 'recommend' it, however its not mandatory. So I would suggest taking it in summer school if your not going out for vacations - my guidance counsellor suggested this.

I live in Canada (Ontario) too. =)
To get into medical. you can apply to any science program in university to get your BSc. After completing 4 years of your undergrad, you can apply to graduate school (med school) and do another 4 years.
Taking physics isn't mandatory but it depends on which program you apply to.
In gr.12 a bunch of universities come and give presentations on this stuff and also in September/October there's a university fair. I recommend going to those =)
