Part 29
It's Tia's birthday, she's woken by the sound of Ria and her parents singing Happy Birthday to her, Tia smiles and gets up from bed and hugs them all, Ria and her sit on the bed while Suhana hands Tia her present
T - wow....tickets to see Atif!!!
P - I managed to convince Angad to help me get them
T - thanks guys
Tia hugs Suhana and Prithvi then sits back on the bed
T - well this is great....but I'm looking forward to the best present I'll get at my party
P - really? we'll see about that
Tia looks at Ria and holds her hand out
T - my present
Ri - yeah.....one second
Ria rushes out of the room and comes back holding a bag, she hands it to Tia who takes the wrapped gift and card out, Tia opens the card then opens the gift to find a box, she opens the box and finds a red dress, Ria smiles and hugs her
Ri - wear it tonight at the party, I bought matching shoes and a bag aswell
T - thanks a lot Di!
Su - ok you girls get ready, we're spending the day with everyone else at the Khanna Mansion
Ri - cool, I'll go get changed
Ria, Suhana and Prithvi leave, Tia gets up and puts her presents aside then heads to the bathroom to have a shower and get changed, after she's done she hears her mobile ringing, she quickly picks it up
Kar - hey Tia...happy birthday gorgeous
T - thanks Karan! listen mom said we're spending the day at yours
Kar - yeah I know, mom told me
T - but then we won't be able to spend any time together
Kar - yeah I was thinking the same...but I told KK and he was saying he wanted to spend time alone with Roshni so he'll do something so that us four can get away before the party starts
T - great, I'll see you soon
Karan hangs up, he turns around and finds KK staring at a photo of him and Roshni, Karan grins to himself and sits next to his brother and snatches the photo from him causing KK to glare at him
Kar - who would have thought you would end up being some lost Romeo
KK - very funny, give it back
Karan hands the photo back, KK puts it on his bedside table
Kar - ok so what's the plan for today?
KK - ok so mom said the party won't start until 8.....everyones coming around here in about an hour....obviously we'll celebrate Tia's brithday with the family, you know cutting the cake and everything, for at least 2 hours....so that takes us to...
KK glances at his watch
KK - ...2PM, if we run off as soon as it happens, they'll know something is up, so say about another 2 hours with the family...then at 4, we'll chill in the games room for about two hours...then at 6, we'll leave....but we have to be back before 8
Kar - great, I'll tell Tia when she gets here
Karan gets up to leave, KK stops him and hands him a paper with an address written on there, Karan looks at it
Kar - what's this?
KK - a little present from me to Tia, I've booked the whole restaurant out for you and her, everything is set, food, lighting, decorations...even a live band
Kar - but what was the need...
KK - if Tia asks..you did everything understand?
Karan smiles and hugs KK then leaves, KK sits on his bed and continues looking at the photo of him and Roshni until he hears the door opening, he quickly puts it away as Angad walks in
A - where's Karan?
KK - sorting out things for the party
Angad nods his head and sits by KK
A - big day for him today
KK - yeah....
A - can't believe he's going to get engaged
KK - yeah I know
A - then you'll be next.....although that's IF you decide to settle down with one girl
KK glances at Roshni's photo
KK - you'll be surprised at what can happen dad
A - maybe, so tell me, who are you bringing to the party?
KK - what makes you say I'm bringing someone?
A - because you always do....now come on if you can't tell your dad who can you tell
KK - ok...I am bringing someone.....but you'll find out who she is when we arrive at the party
A - as you wish, now get changed, everyone will be here soon
KK - ok
Angad leaves, KK goes to get changed. Later both the Garewal's and the Bose's arrive at the Khanna mansion, the kids greet the adults then wish Tia a happy birthday then head to the dining room away from the parents, Aryan hugs Ria, KK hugs Roshni and Karan hugs Tia
T - so where's my present?
Kar - you'll get it
KK - so Aryan, Ria, what are you going to do while us four have gone?
Ar - guess we'll be the ones keeping everyone else busy so they don't ask where you are
Ri - that's not fair...we want to spend time alone aswell
T - yeah but you guys went out before and spent the whole day together...remember shopping, movie and dinner....this is just dinner
Ri - fine fine whatever
Aryan puts his arm around her
Ar - we'll find a way to be alone in the house
Ri - good
The door opens, Suhana and Kashish come inside, Aryan quickly takes his arm off Ria's shoulder
Ka - ok you lot, come lets cut Tia's cake
T - great lets go
Everyone gathers in the living room, Kripa brings the cake inside with the candles lit, everyone begins to sing Happy Birthday to Tia, Tia looks at Karan, makes a wish then blows the candles out, everyone claps then begin feeding Tia cake.
P - so should we give her the presents now or during the party?
T - now!
A - I don't know...maybe we should wait...
T - no now!
S - yeah I think you two are right....lets wait
T - no please!!! now!
K - oh stop torturing her and give her the presents now
T - yes!
Angad leaves the room and comes back with a bag, he hands it to her, Tia looks at it and screams
T - oh my God!!!!
Ri - what is it?
Tia pulls out a signed CD of Atif Aslam along with a T-Shirt with his picture on saying "Happy Birthday Tia Love Atif" Tia runs over to Angad and Kripa and hugs them tightly
T - thank you so much!!!
A - it was nothing, Atif's a good friend of mine
T - still thank you!!!
Sujal hands Tia a bag, she takes it and looks inside, she pulls a box out, she opens it and finds a mug with her picture on, Tia smiles
T - erm thanks chachu
Sujal grins seeing her reaction and bursts out laughing, he goes over to her and puts his arm around her
S - did you seriously think I was going to get you a mug?
T - you mean this isn't my present?
S - of course not, Aryan...
Aryan hands her another bag, she takes a box out and breathes deeply
T - please don't be another mug
Tia opens it and finds a diamond necklace with matching earrings, a ring and a bracelet
T - wow.....this is awesome....much better than the mug
Ar - glad you like it....by the way...the mug was my idea
Aryan grins, Tia hits him lightly then hugs him and goes over to Sujal, Kashish and Roshni and hugs them
T - thanks a lot
Angad looks at Prithvi
A - so what did you get her? bet it can't top my present
P - actually it did....I got her those tickets I asked you about
A - the Atif ones?
P - yeah along with backstage passes
A - now that's the last time I allow you to use my name to get tickets
P - I doubt it
A - yeah yeah
T - ok guys chill....shall we eat now? I'm hungry
K - yeah lets eat
Kripa, Suhana and Kashish go in to the kitchen to get the food while everyone else sits at the table, Karan glances at KK and nudges him, KK nods his head
KK - dad
A - yeah
KK - a friend of mine is throwing a party tonight...
A - sorry KK I'm sure you can miss one party....especially since its Tia's birthday
KK - I know, that's what I told him, but he kept telling me to come even if its for a few minutes
A - you can't exactly go while we're at the party
KK - yeah....which is why I told him we'd come earlier....at 6
P - we?
Kar - yeah see he's a friend of mine too..so I'm going aswell....
T - yeah and I know his sister, and she's been bugging me to come so I said I'd go too
P - right....
R - I'm going too
S - why?
R - because...someone sensible is needed to make sure KK comes back on time
KK - yeah exactly....woah wait a minute...what does that mean?
R - never mind
A - good idea....as long as you're back before the party starts
KK - we'll be back before 8...promise
A - ok, Aryan aren't you going to go?
Ar - chachu I would have....but apart from the fact I don't even know the dude....someone needs to stay and help
Ri - yeah and since I don't know anyone there....I'm staying as well
The women come with the food and overhear the talk about the party
K - well at least we'll have you two to help us
Ka - and the rest of you, make sure you come back on time
Ar - they will mom...now please can you pour me some pasta....it looks delicious
The women begin pouring the food, everyone eats, after Ria, Roshni and Tia go in to the kitchen to help Kripa, Kashish and Suhana with the dishes, KK looks at Aryan
KK - PS3?
Ar - nah...I'm in the mood for some X-Box today
Kar - nah.....lets play on the Wii
KK - but those games are boring.....PS3
Ar - PS3 is boring....X-Box

Angad clears his throat
A - neither of you are going to play anything if you don't stop arguing
KK - fine we'll do rock paper scissors and decide
Aryan and Karan look at him
Ar - rock paper scissors? are you serious?
KK - you have a better idea?
Kar - he's right....ok lets play...best out of three...winner decides what we play
They play rock paper scissors, in the first round KK and Karan both choose paper while Aryan chooses rock, in the second round KK and Karan both pick scissors and Aryan picks paper
Ar - this isn't fair...you two have some sort of twin telepathy
KK - we're twins....can you blame us?
Ar - dad.....do something or I'll end up playing PS3 or even worse....the Wii
S - ok here
Sujal gets a paper and rips it into 9 pieces, he writes PS3 on three of the pieces, Wii on three and X-Box on three, then puts them in a bowl and shakes them around then holds it out to them
S - each of you pick a paper.....then read out what it says

S - looks like its the Wii
Kar - yes!
P - ok how about you play the Wii for half an hour....PS3 for another half hour and then the X-Box
Ar - sounds fair...lets go
The guys head upstairs to play, later KK and Karan get ready for the "party", KK, Karan , Tia and Roshni leave, Karan and Tia head to the address KK had given to Karan. They arrive there and Tia looks shocked to see the restaurant all booked out with the place decorated with baloons, flowers and banners saying "Happy Birthday", she follows Karan inside and sees a table in the middle with candles, she looks to the side and sees a live band playing
T - Karan! why did you do all of this for?
Kar - why not? you're sepecial....that's why
Tia hugs him and kisses his cheek, the waiter leads them to the table, they both sit down, and order food, they eat then Karan gets up and holds his hand out to Tia

Karan and Tia leave, they get in to the car
Kar - so what did you guys get up to?
KK - just went for a walk....talked...and stuff

R - no you won't!
KK - he's my brother! I have no choice
R - whatever
They head back to the Khanna Mansion. They go inside and find the place decorated and already filled with guests, Suhana takes Tia to the front where Angad is standing
A - ok the birthday girl is finally here.....now lets wish her a very happy birthday
The guests wish Tia a happy birthday and give her gifts, Suhana takes them and puts them on a table, Tia's friends come and wish her, she hugs them and introduces them to Suhana and Prithvi. Tia goes towards the back where Aryan and Ria are standing, KK, Roshni and Karan join them
Ar - good news...I heard chachu talking and he's going to make the announcement any time soon
Kar - brilliant
They all look towards Angad as he gets the microphone
A - can I have everyone's attention please? firstly I want to wish Tia a very happy birthday
Everyone claps
A - and secondly...I am very happy...and shocked..to know that my son Karan is in love! Karan...come here son
Karan grins and makes his way towards Angad as everyone claps, he stands next to Angad
A - I can't believe my son has grown up so fast that he's fallen in love....that too with my best friend's daughter....and what better day to announce their engagment....so everyone give it up for my son Karan and his wife to be...Roshni!!!
Karan is about to hug Angad but realises what he just said and just stands there with his eyes wide open, at the back, Tia, Roshni and KK are looking shocked while Aryan and Ria wonder what's going to happen, KK quickly rushes to the front and nudges Karan and whispers in his ear
KK - what the **** is dad talking about?
Kar - I don't know....Roshni? where did he get that idea from?
KK - when you told dad about Tia...did you actually mention her name?
Kar - oh my God...I never....dad kept saying "my best friend's daughter" I assumed he meant Tia....
KK - and you're supposed to be the smart one? what are we going to do now? just nudge dad and tell him he's made a mistake
Kar - ok
Karan puts his hand on Angad's arm
Kar - dad....listen I wanted to say something..
A - Karan, I'm so happy....
Angad hugs Karan
Kar - but dad...
A - Sujal....bring Roshni here please
Sujal goes towards the back and gets Roshni, she's still in shock, she looks at Aryan who leans towards her and whispers
Ar - look just go there for now...we'll fix this
Roshni nods her head and slowly follows Sujal to the front, Sujal makes her stand next to Karan who is still trying to get Angad to listen to him, KK is still standing there looking very angry.
A - everyone lets congratulate Karan and Roshni!
Everyone claps except for KK, Aryan and Ria. Ria looks to the side to see how Tia is but sees her running outside
Ri - Aryan...handle this, I'm going after Tia
Ar - ok
