Ash deserves this award, in fact she deserved it years ago. Bunch of her haters belittling it or bringing in some politician who isn't even the ruling party of India or bringing in someone who hasn't even won the award himself, does not discredit her achievements.
She deserves it because she has been a Miss World and a big supermodel, and breaking the myth that models can't act.. she has always broken the mould and has always proven her critics wrong.
She has been awarded this because for over 10 years, she has been on top and has been getting offers and roles by top directors. She has been a part of several critical and box office successes. Her acting in HDDCS, Choker Bali, Raincoat, Guru, JA, Provoked, KK etc were all acclaimed and she never was a one trick pony. She also wasn't scared to do movies in other languages. which other actress would come out of their comfort zone and do regional cinemas when they're on top?
She is also inspirational because she never latched on to a top actor and did 5 movies with him back to back for some glory. She always believed in hard work and despite media and bunch of annoying bollywood fans writing her off, she didn't let anything faze her and continued on making movies. She is also the only actress who in this sexist world of Bollywood is getting top offers and movies despite being in mid 30's and married (both a huge NO NO for what a typical Bollywood actress)..
so yeah whine and moan all you want but if any actress deserves this award this its her... it makes no difference that a bunch of teeny boppers who has a problem with her mere existence and who will bash her for everything and anything disagrees..
