'I don't see anything wrong in taking Raj Thackeray's support'
Vaishali Made, 25, has created history by being the first female contestant to win a music reality show.Vaishali was declared the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 at the grand finale organised by Zee TV, held at the Gateway of India, in South Mumbai, on Saturday.
Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone handed over the trophy to Vaishali at the musical tribute saluting the spirit of Mumbai, post the 26/11 attacks. Vaishali, who is also the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi, walked away with a music contract worth Rs 50 lakh and a car.
The second and third place went to Yashita Yashpal Sharma and Somen Nandi respectively.
Vaishali talks to Rajul Hegde about her amazing achievement.
How does it feel to be the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009?
It is a dream come true. I am speechless with joy.
'I don't think there was anyone better than me'
Who was your toughest competitor?I don't think there was anyone better than me. But Soumen bhaiya came close. He could have been the winner.
How was your experience on the show?
I grew as a singer and got the best platform to showcase my talent. It was fantastic, mindblowing and outstanding.
Who was your favourite judge?
I am a very big fan of Shankar Mahadevan and I was secretly hoping to get selected to his gharana. I am lucky to have performed with him on the show. I was very excited when he first came on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi.
What about your mentor Himesh Reshammiya?
I wouldn't have reached where I am today, if not for his support and guidance. He even fought with others for me. I am really thankful to him.
'My husband is my inspiration'
Were you nervous at any point since you were a wild card entry?I entered the show directly as the wild card in the top 14. I was nervous because the audience didn't know me too well as I was new on the show.
Your memorable moment?
It has to be the time when Baba Ram Dev came on the show. He taught my husband pranayam, and gave him some health tips.
Who was your inspiration?
My husband. He supported me through thick and thin. He took care of our six month-old daughter when I went for the shoot. Fifteen days before the finals I called my in-laws to support me. I am thankful to everyone who supported.
'I have got offers for playback singing'
How will you celebrate your victory?I will first take blessings from my guruji and celebrate with my family.
What next?
I have got offers for playback singing in Hindi and Marathi films. However, it is too early to talk about them now.
There were also rumours that you got strong political support?
Yes, it is true and I won't deny it. I visited Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray for his blessings and support. I am from his state and I don't see anything wrong in taking his support.

What are your Views on her interview and things like:
- I called my in-laws 15 days before the finale to get support. SO they were not happy with her participating?
- I don't know why everyone created a fuss here about Raj T. supporting Vaishali, when she finds no problem in it.
- Maybe Vaishali was not one of Himesh's favorite since she liked Shankar as a mentor more than him. Did you guys notice there was no celebration by Himesh this time around when the winner was announced.
- I am glad that she has started getting offers.
