Everyone competes in Saregampa to win, as did Soumen. I can't help but feel bad for Soumen. His talent at this point is irrelevant. But, he's the first Bengali not to win Saregamapa. After 6? competitions. It seems like his loss would be multiplied for him. Not only that, but he came third. Not second, third. I would feel like a failure. Anyways, he's a talented person and shouldn't be disappointed. I just wanted to point that little bit out.

If you are good then you would win and if you are not then you won't. I don't think, he has failed. It doesn't say anywhere that if you are bengali, then you have to win and if you don't then you are a failure❓

As the mentors and many of the special guests have been saying, win and loss in a competition like this is really not very significant in music (except perhaps that the 50lakhs contract will go only to the winner). Bollywood is hungry for good singers and there is scope not just for the SRGMP winner but even many of those who did not even make it to the top.
In that respect, there's no need Soument or Yashita to get disappointed. There journey has really begun now and the results of Saregamapa will have very little bearing on who succeeds more in playback music. Vaishali may have won Saregamapa but I won't be surprised if several of the previously eliminated singers surpass her in the race to becoming a playback singer. With the competition over, the Saregamapa 2009 participants now begin again from the start line.

Yes right. Only if a Bengali wins it becomes regional voting. So Vashali winning was not regional voting ???? Com'on , it is Zee TV and SA RE GA MA PA ONLY TAKE THE CONTESTANTS FOR SHOW TO THEIR REGIONS ONLY FOR MORE VOTE FROM THE REGION . WHY DON'T THEY DO OTHERWISE THEN ?
I voted for Vaishali and i wished she should win only though Soumen was equally talented. I am a Bengali. But I thought Vashali should win for various reasons.

I don't think Vaishali's win was by regional voting. In Maharashtra, Marathi channels dominate the viewers. Currently, the Little Champs on Zee Marathi has become hugely popular and has propelled zee marathi in national level TRP charts. d buzz abt hindi srgmp was rather low. in general, hindi reality shows are looked down upon by maharashtrians..as being overly dramatic, unreal etc.
people did take note of vaishali when she came in top 5 and then top 3..but there was no systematic campaign as such for her in maharashtra.
but she got highest votes in west n also in south..and 2nd highest in north and east. so i think it is the non-maharashtra people who have voted for her and that's purely on the basis of musical talent.
either that, or zee had some other internal reasons to make vaishali win.

She is the product of Zee Marathi SA RE GA MA PA. , so obviously here too she received more votes from Maharashra only. Each contestants receive highest votes from their own regions only. Then the rest depends on other regions. So like if you say Vaishali received from other regions, please check earlier winners also similarly must have received from other regions more votes and thus own. If this applies in her case so also with others. That is what i want to say. Just not to feel unhappy because Bengali's are winning all the time.
In every Bengali house there is a trained singers , the children who won all of their either mother or father is into music and so they are all good singers, not jus by regional voting . I am a trained singer and in my family my father, my other 4 sisters ( one was radio signer those days) all are trained singers. I got married in Kolkata though i am Bombay born and brought up , i used to hear everyday early morning from neighbourhood , girls practicing singing, it was so pleasant to hear, and they were very good classical singers, but where is the future , nothing, they just do singing in local festivals etc.

here u said that u r not marathi but u voted for vaishali. that's what i am saying..a lot of non-marathis like u voted for her because they felt she was most talented and they voted purely for merit. that's how she won.
there was almost unanimous opinion that she was d best..even before d results were announced.
in previous schedules, the overall feeling was that non-deserving people won..and then questions were raised on region-based voting. and then there r ppl like ujjanni who further tarnish the image.
but that doesn't mean we are questioning bengal's musical talent. i mean- kishore kumar..panchamda..shreya ghoshal..shaan 😃

@anjalibc I agree with you. Vaishali deserved to win. My entire family(India) and friends were rooting for her. Like you I am surprised at the way some people were making comments like;bengali voting bank, certain region will win and we know which one, blah, blah, blah....I hope that now people would know that bengalis didn't vote for Soumen because they thought Vaishali deserved to win.

I don't think Soumen lost any thing now the door opened for him and for those too who are talented and hard working. Road to success is not going to be easy but hard working talented ones got a platform to showcase their talent now lets see what happens.

Yes Vashali is a deserving candidate. all three are pretty good but Vaishali stood out in versatility. Given a choice I still like Soumen no matter where he comes from as he renders K Kher's numbers superbly. He is the Zee Bangla winner too and will do well in future. As for Bengalis I am glad that they dedicate so much time and effort to music. It is beneficial to all of us. I am also grateful to the Punjabis and the Pakistanis and the South Indians for their contribution to music as I enjoy them. I am also grateful to the music provided by various other countries , western and eastern
