Gurmeet turns into a singer |
For decades, Ravinder Jain has been the voice behind most mythological songs on television. For a change, the legendary singer recorded a song for someone else. That person happens to be none other than our Lord Ram Gurmeet Choudhury of Ramayan fame. Says Gurmeet says, "I'm a really bad singer. Both Sita (Debina) and Lakshman (Ankit Arora) are trained singers so they started calling me a besura (bad singer). In the coming episodes, Lord Ram sings a Durga stuti. Our producer insisted that he would want me to sing it. Though a bit reluctant, I finally gave in to his demands. I never imagined one day Ravinderji will be recording a song for me." Talking about the particular sequence, Gurmeet says, "A night before he takes to the battlefield, Ravan performs a yagya (prayer). Lord Indra tells Ram that he too must to do the same or else Ravan might end up defeating him. So, Ram sings Durga stuti. In order to please the Goddess, Ram has to offer 100 lotuses. However, Ram ends with one lotus short – courtesy Ravan. Thus he decides to offer his eyes. Before he does that, Goddess Durga surfaces and blesses him. That's when she gives a new name to Ram i.e Kamalnain." The actor claims that he could perhaps be the first television actor to sing. "I reckon I might be the first actor to sing on a TV programme. If this is true, then it all the more doubles my joy. I've proven to myself that I too can sing," Gurmeet sighs. This episode will air in the upcoming week |
