Thanks for the above story on Samba. Two minor points - Anirudha too was killed, and it was Anirudha/Usha's son Vajra who Arjun installed as ruler of Mathura, leaving Subhadra as his regent. Also, after they had played the prank, in what I read (Amar Chitra Katha), they approached Ugrasena, not Akrura.

Also, when Samba abducted Duryodhan's daughter, he fought them but was overpowered by Bhishma, Drona, Karna all fighting unitedly against him and capturing him. Since Krishna was away in the forest with the Pandavas, Balarama was approached to rescue Samba. He initially went as a messenger to the Kauravas and pleaded with Duryodhan to return Samba. When Duryodhan, in his usual arrogance refused, Balarama, with his hala, uprooted Hastinapur and put it in the middle of the sea 🤣 (He should have left it there 🤣🤣🤣) Then the Kaurava's got rattled, and not only returned Samba, but surrendered Lakshmanaa as his bride. This relationship was also the basis on which Duryodhan approached Krishna on the eve of the war asking for support.

P.S. Apologies for so many dwapar yuga insertions.

Chandra, you are absolutely correct. Arjuna made Vajra the king of Mathura. I think it was he who built the Teple for Krishna (in Dwaraka od Mathura I don't remember). I had read in another book that it was Akrura and now when I referred ACK it was Ugrasena they approached. Also, Duryodhan seems to have a craze for the name 'Lakshman'. He named one his sons Lakshman and his daughter Lakshmana. When his sons Lakshman was killed by Abhimanyu, he flew into a rage and that was the reason all the Kauravas brutally murdered Abhimanyu upon Duryodhan's bidding.
Samba's abduction of Duryodhan was the major shame on Krishna's honour. If this had not happened probably the Yadhava army would have fought on the side of the Pandavas.
Again, we are jumping to Dwapara Yuga as Chandraketu suggested. I suggest that we can create another thread for Mahabharath if this discussion is to continue. Also we can create another club for the various versions of Ramayan. That way we might be able to find out where the side stories come from. But we'll end up with a lot of new stories as well.
