Hey guys,
Mayaa wanted me to write something about jai and bani married in childhood, pooja wanted me to write something on the lines of 'Just married'. I didn't have the heart to disappoint any of them, so I thought of writing both; I have fused both of them in my own weird, different way.
Since you all are pestering me to write a FF, and seriously I have nothing to do except wasting my oil pastels I have finally decided to shed my laziness and write a FF, I don't know how it will turn out.
I hope you all will like it!!!! Comments as usual are expected!!! (-:
ENJOY!!!!

The Perfect Coincidence
PART 1
A tuft of long, black lustrous hair flew, as if playing with the incoming wind, a petite frame stood by the open window, staring out into the darkness of the midnight, the night was moonless, her fingers mechanically tore apart a medium sized photograph, without giving it any glance she threw those torn bits outside, the pieces flew in the air carried by the strong blowing wind just like a kite without a string? ?she angrily closed the window and plopped her thin frame on the soft bed, refusing to shut her beautiful hazel brown eyes? ?

The opulent green, rabi fields bowed to the direction of the cold blowing January wind, the wheat crops had flowered, which were almost sown 2 and a half moths ago?the still evening was serenaded by the soft gushing sound of the water flowing in the canal branched from the Satluj River?being the first half of January, the winter was at its peak almost freezing, it was very characteristic of the region of Punjab, the climate was very cold in winters and very hot in summers.
In the interiors of the village, delighted laughters reverberated in the much sleeping village, it was one of the biggest houses of the village with a very wide spread terrace?besides it stood another similar house sharing its boundary wall?the front garden of the house was well kept, with small flowers of the shrubs shining in the darkness of the falling night like dancing fireflies?
"Bhai, maza aagaya?kyun Parmeete?" a very manly authoritative voice roared heartily?
"Sahi gal kida, Balwant?" Parmeet Singh replied?
"kitna acha lag raha hain, sab ko saath saath dekh kar?"
"Haan, rab kare yeh khushiya aisi hi bani rahen?"
"Aur humari dosti ko koi nazar na lage?"
Both the old men said as their strained eyes scanned the house which was filled by the laughter and talkings of their respective families?
Parmeet Singh and Balwant Walia were best friends as well as neighbors; they were one of the most respected and well to do families in the village, they were mainly into agriculture and exported basmati rice and wheat?it was their long lost wish to turn their thick friendship into an everlasting relationship, but to their utter dismay both of them had sons, Mukesh and Preet were Parmeet's sons where as Uday was Balwant's son, their sons also continued the legacy of their friendship ahead, they were also good friends from childhood?they wished either of them had a daughter. Though their sons were now grown up and settled in different places but yearly they came to their native village and spent quality time with their parents, and it had almost become a tradition to meet for dinner whenever they came.
Then suddenly Balwant's eyes fell on the little kids running around, their grandchildren were playing, bani, just 5 years old mukesh's daughter and jai, 11 years old uday's son were playing merrily, jai was pulling bani's ponytail and instead of crying like most girls bani also pulled jai's short hair?Balwant laughed?
"Kya hua?" parmeet questioned?Balwant simply pointed out to the playing jai and bani?parmeet looked confused?Balwant eyes shone with a sudden gleam?

"Papa, this is impossible?" Jai shouted?dropping the spoonful of cereals he was going to have for breakfast?
"Jai, please calm down?" uday was quite surprised to get such an eccentric reaction from his son, jai was a much sorted out person, calm and composed?
"Dad, if you don't know, child marriage is illegal and an offensive crime and you can be sent to jail if I ever decide to do a court case?" jai said with a cool air?uday looked shocked?
"Yeh kya tareeka hain apne papa se baat karne ka?" Krishna's stern voice boomed from the background?
"Oh!!! Please ma?dad jo keh rahen hain aisa kuch bhi nahin ho sakta?" jai said sipping his juice?
"Jai, tumhare daadaji chahte hain, aur waise bhi ek baar rishta jud jaaye toh usse todna asaan nahin hota?" uday reasoned out?
"I am not listening to all this dad, aap chahte hain ki main ek aise rishte ko maanu jab mujhe rishte ka matlab bhi nahin pata tha toh aap bohot galat soch rahen hain?I am not doing any of this?aap jo karna chahte hain kar sakte hain..BYE!!!" jai declared and got up?Uday and Krishna sighed?
Jai walked towards his car in long strides, sitting in his car his steel grey eyes fell on his grandfather in the wheelchair?he was reading the newspaper enjoying the peace and quaint of the green garden?he averted his gaze?and started the engine? ?he hated chaos, he was too orderly and like everything to be prefect but this sudden unexpected turbulence in his life was disturbing him?no matter what he was not bowing down to his parents' wishes?he gripped the steering wheel hard and zoomed ahead on the well constructed Delhi roads?

The celebrations were reaching a higher pitch of excitement. The Singh as well as the Walia families assembled outdoors around the large auspicious bonfire which was set up. They were tossing sesame seeds, gur, sugar-candy and rewaries in it. It was the Lohri celebrations. Lohri is an extremely popular harvest festival in Northern India. It is celebrated in January when all the fields are filled with the golden harvest of wheat before the harvesting and gathering of crops. Lohri marks the end of winter on the last day of Paush, and beginning of Magha (around January 12 and 13), when the sun changes its course. It is associated with the worship of the sun and fire. The questions like When it began and why is lost in the mists of antiquity.
They were wearing their brightest clothes and were dancing the bhangra and gidda to the beat of the dhol. The lyrics of the melodious Lohri song floated in the thick misty air, which was being sung by the ladies of the house?
Sunder mundriye ho!
Tera kaun vicaharaa ho!
Dullah bhatti walla ho!
Dullhe di dhee vyayae ho!
Ser shakkar payee ho!
Kudi da laal pathaka ho!

Who will stitch her shawl?!
The uncle made choori!
The landlords ate it!
He made the landlords eat a lot!
Lots of innocent guys came
One innocent boy got left behind
The police arrested him!
The policeman hit him with a brick!
Cry or howl!

"Sunno sab log?" balwant started?everybody's eyes shifted to him?
"Maine aur Parmeete ne mil kar ek faisla kiya hain?" he continued gaining everybody's attention?
"Hum chahte hain ki Jai aur bani puttar ki shaadi ho?" he announced, he could hear gasps from his audience?
"Par bauji?" uday spoke up?
"Pehle gal toh sun puttar?main aur parmeet hamesha hi chahte the ki humari dosti rishtedari main badal jaaye par humme se kissiko bhi beti nahin hui, par hum na sahi humare beton ke zariye hi yeh khwahish puri karlen?"
"Pata nahin hum woh dekhne ke liye zinda rahen na rahen?bas kal gurudwar main ek chota sa roka hoga, bas aur kuch nahin?phir jab bache bade hojayenge tab aapko jab theek lage tab shaadi kar dena?" parmeet said beaming with happiness?
"Par bauji, bachon ki shaadi?yeh?" mukesh intervened?
"Hum kahaan shaadi karva rahen hain, bas ek rishte ki gaanth band rahen hain?bas?apne bauji ka itna bhi maan nahin rakh sakte puttarji?" Balwant said?
"Aree nahin bauji, aisi baat nahin hain, mujhe koi aitraaz nahin hain?" uday said?
"Haan bauji mujhe bhi nahin, humari dosti rishte main badal jaaye usse achi kya baat ho sakti hain?" mukesh said?
But still there was a dull apprehension at the back of their respective minds, times were changing and what future held was unpredictable?maybe their children would not agree to them?
As proposed, next day the roka ceremony was conducted in the holy Gurudwara?binding the lives of two strangers together forever? ?

The sight of the Doon valley was looking breath-taking, surrounded by the Himalayas in the north, Shivalik Hills in the south, Dehradoon was indeed a beautiful place situated in the nature's lap?Bani wound the woolen shawl more tightly around herself, the chilly wind of the dawn was biting, the sun had just risen, slowly the rays of the sunlight were waking up the city and spreading latent warmth?she didn't realize that she had come a long way walking? she tuned to go back home?

P.S.: I don't much about the Punjabi Culture, just a shallow knowledge from friends and readings. I hope I have not hurt or go against any cultural sentiments of anybody here, if so please excuse me. Roka, as I know is generally an engagement kind of thing and not marriage precisely.
