IF I WERE GIVEN A CHOICE BETWEEN COMMITTING SUICIDE AND GOING OUT WITH SHWETA TIWARI, I'D RATHER COMMIT SUICIDE
Even in present times, being a single and successful woman in our industry is pretty challenging. She often becomes a subject of discussion and sometimes, the ordeal just never ends. Shweta Tiwari is one of television's most famous faces but her ugly split with husband Raja Choudhury seems to have given her more acknowledgement than her work.
Ever since Shweta split with Raja, she's been at the receiving end of all kinds of link-ups and scandals. We had only just heard rumours about her affair with her Bhojpuri co-star Manoj Tiwari when the latest one beat everything else.
We were shocked when we first heard the rumours about Shweta's alleged romantic involvement with Rahul Vaidya, a man much younger to her. To those not in the know, Rahul's claim to fame was Indian Idol. He was one of the finalists in the first season and later even went on to win the reality show Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar.
The buzz has been going around for while now but sources close to Shweta insist that the news is being spread by the actress' detractors. According to a source, Rahul and Shweta first met on the dance-based reality show Aaja Mahi Vay where Shweta was one of the judges and Rahul was the host.
He further adds, "From day one, Rahul was totally besotted by Shweta and couldn't see beyond her. He even told some of his friends on the show that she was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen and was smitten by her. Moreover, he didn't even make any bones about his feelings. But of course, Shweta knew better as she had been through turbulent relationships before." Rahul had been previously linked with his Indian Idol co-contestant Prajakta Shukre.
One of Shweta's well-wishers informed us that this bit of news was only being circulated to tarnish her image because Shweta has no dearth of enemies. "Maybe it was more of an infatuation from Rahul's side and he got over it in due course of time. But people are just putting two and two together. They never had an affair. Shweta gave Rahul a lot of advice in terms of his career. She also knew that people were talking about them behind her back but she never cared. She knew what she was doing was right and that's what mattered."
One hears that eventually, it's because of these rumours that Shweta and Rahul drifted apart. It's been a while since the show has ended and reports indicate that they're merely on casual terms basis. Once again, a friendship has been severed because of the severe connotations attached to it.
Maybe that's why Rahul sounded so disturbed when we asked him about it. "Yeh sab sunne se pehle mere kaan kyun nahin phat gaye? I mean seriously, how can I date a mother of a child? Shweta is as old as my mother. If I was given a choice between committing suicide and going out with Shweta Tiwari, I would rather commit suicide. I mean, do we even look like a pair?" he said cantankerously.
The TV industry is a harsh place to be in and things aren't always what they seem. But it's time people gave Shweta Tiwari a second chance. She's been through so much already. And such nasty rumours are only making matters worse for her. The fact that she still smiles her way through it all is proof enough that she's a true survivor.
