When Ravan had got desired Var from Brahma and Mahesh, he came out for victory over Trilok. So at one time he came to Usheerbeej region where Raja Marut was doing Maheshwar Yagya under the guidance of Samvart Muni in which all Devta came to take their share. Indra, Yam, Varun and Kuber were also there.

Seeing Ravan coming, Indra, Yam, Kuber, and Varun, changed their form to peacock, crow, chameleon and swan respectively. Later when Ravan went away, they changed into their real form. Pleased with these animals these Devta gave Var to those of whom they assumed the form to save themselves.

--Indra gave Var to peacock that he should be fearless from snakes and his wings which were only blue till then will then on have thousand eyes.
--Yam gave Var to crow that he would never suffer from any disease, and he need not to fear from death unless somebody kills you fro the purpose to feed the dead, and then only those dead will be satisfied.
--Kuber gave Var to Chameleon that he could be able to save himself by changing colors according to environment thus hiding himself from dangers.
--Varun gave Var to swan that from then on he would be milky while in color.

Thanks Rajnish for this story ...
all boons were really interesting ....
Indra dev has 1000 eyes , so thats the reason why peacock has eyes on wings... wow gr8
Sam and rimi , ya its true Crows never die natural death ..
I mean like every living beings has specified time of life but
Crows dont have age limit ...
Crows only die if one kills them or by accidents like current ...
thats the reason u wont see documentaries on Crows ....
(well I havent yet if anybody then m srry)

I was a bit confused where I read this all....
I m sure its not from Rf ... if it is then srry for that ....
Now info ...
We all offer food and prasad to crows fot two reasons...
one to get out from all sins and secondly theres an old custom
considering them as our ancestors...
According to some ppl Crows coming and Kaw kaw call
gives a sort of message regarding guest arrival
and acc to some, crows call invite problems...
Crows squawk (irritating sound) always gives some message
I read a story
where there was a man who understand crows language
so he got message from crow that one dead body flowing has some precious stone on his chest ...
The man got opportunity took that stone and was rich ....
So crows just dont shout , they always give messages
sometimes good and bad also....
Do judge yourself , they def come on days of occassion
or any imp happenings to tell us all in advance ....
