I read in an one of the interviews by contestants re. song selection that the singer provides the channel with list of songs they want to sing for a particular theme, and then the SRGMPA team selects one from the list for them to sing. So the song choice is singer's choice based on their liking and talent level. It is no coincidence that Yashita always sings westernized hindi songs..the list she provides, clearly include her choice of songs.

Vaishali was just sooo sweet today, while Pratibha who usually is good, was disappointing!

Today Vaishali was superb in both of her songs;

Agar tum mil jao (was very good)
Zamana chod denge hum

and

Gali Me Aaj Chaand Nikla (one of the best performances oF 2009 SRGMP)

While Pratibha was weaker than usual in both of her songs especially the first one

Woh Lamhe (was sung very badly)

and

Aapke Pyar mein, hum sawarne lage (better, but not the best)

Will Vaishali be able to make it to the finals with
these very good performances

ye the contestants must have a choice in which song they want to sing, and Vaishali sure has some great picks! they all suite her very well, gali me aaj chand nikla was just superb, and if yashita or even pratibha was to sing that, then they wouldn't have performed as well!
