Prachi unaware of V Shantaram nomination
"WOW!" is Prachi's first reaction when we break the news of her nomination to her and she cant stop expressing her excitement and surprise and keeps confirming and reconfirming the news.
"It feels great to be nominated. I didn't know about it because I am shooting in Panvel and the network is really bad so I have hardly taken any calls. Thank you for the update. It feels amazing to be nominated as the only actress from Bollywood" says the elated actress.
Prachi thinks being accepted as an actress by movie buffs is her biggest compliment.
"People saw me on TV for 2.5 years and then everybody wanted a bahu like Bani. Now after seeing Rock On, everyone wants a wife like Sakshi," she laughs.
Prachi has already won a few awards for Rock On. She won the Anantlok debut award in Kolkatta, another award which Farhan picked up and she expects to receive another award in January in Kolkatta. For the V Shantaram Awards, she competes with co-star Farhan Akhtar and Darsheel Safary and two people from the South film industry.
Prachi is also a spokesperson, along with Konkona Sen, Farah Khan and Sonali Bendre for the 'Guard Yourself' campaign to spread awareness about cervical cancer.
"I did not know anything about cervical cancer. Even my mom has never done the Pap smear test. We do a general body check up once a year but it is very important for women to do the Pap Smear test after the age of 30 because 30-35 is the prime age that women can get affected by this deadly disease. So, the Delhi based Indian Cancer Society contacted me and a couple of other people to make people aware of cervical cancer. They wanted the message to reach the masses. The TV crowd relates to me and all the youngsters who watched Rock on also know me. People are aware about breast cancer and AIDS but we don't know anything about cervical cancer. So I was more than happy to join the campaign and make people aware of the disease," says the 20 year old.
Prachi is currently shooting for Life Partner in Panvel on the outskirts of Mumbai with Tusshar Kapoor.
