| Sanjau grins through his loss before treatment |
Almost went bald
Dutt had a close shave during the making of the sequel to Rajkumar Hirani's Munnabhai, when, sources reveal, Dutt's special hair treatment went haywire.
"A few months back, just before his father Sunil Dutt's demise, Sanju had gone out of the country," says a member of the film's unit. "When he came back, we realised there was a problem with his hair. He had gone abroad for treatment, but it went wrong. In the process, he lost a lot of hair.
When he came back, he had a near-bald pate. It was a shock for us, as we had to shoot with him; due to the hair loss and resultant continuity problem, shooting had to be cancelled."
Turned to hair drugs
During the treatment, Sanjay Dutt seems embarrassed to stand next to luscious-locked Anna, Sunil Shetty
What about the hair the actor sports now? "After the failed treatment, Sanju has been on antibiotics and methods, for normal hair growth."
Wig look didn't work
The source adds they even tried using a wig for the actor, but the look didn't work. "Since we didn't want to waste much time, a wig was called for. But it failed to create the desired look, so we had to do away with it." Did this cause a delay in the shoot? "Of course it did. We had to wait till for a while until we could recreate the original look."
Official line
The hair returns in full bloom
Director Rajkumar Hirani was unavailable for comment, but his assistant said, "The only delay that happened during Munnabhai 2 was at the time of Dutt saab's demise. Beyond that, we have had no issues of any kind with Sanju's schedule."
Since Dutt too was unavailable for comment, we checked with close aide, Kalim Khan. "I am not aware of any issue with hair loss. He has maintained the same look throughout the film."
