Hello.

Ever since the mumbai attacks, there has been a surge in posts related to that topic, which is understandable. But recently, the posts have gotten out of hand. They seem to be targeting individuals, religions and communities. There have been alot of posts that insult other members, instigate them. Some posts that try and convert others.

I'm sick and tired of going through these posts. I've tried to PM and warn individuals, some to limited success. I gave u guys a chance to tell me what you guys wanted in the post regarding what moderators should do to these topics. And it seemed as if general consensus was for me to place a blanket ban over such topics. This, though easy for me would not be fair to those who are able to discuss topics constructively.

I've therefore come up with a set of stright guidelines for every topic along these lines. Any member that violates these guide lines WILL have their warning level raised. I've been patient so far, the whole dev team has. Don't test out patience level further.

WHAT YOU CAN POST:
- neutral topics/posts
- topics/posts that encourage discussion

WHAT YOU CANNOT DO:
- topics/posts that INSTIGATE a member, a race, a community, a society or a country.
- topics/posts that are insulting in nature..
- topics/posts that serve to convert or promote a religion... anything like "_______ is the only true God"
- topics/posts that DO NOT encourage discussion and basically serve no purpose.
- topics/posts that are inappropriate for all ages. We have members as young as 13.

These are in addition to other simple rules we already have in place. If you feel that a member is not following these posts, either report them or PM it to ME or any other active dev team member. Please do not further fuel the discussion on that thread or insult the member. That would be taken as an offence.

I hope i have made myself clear. If you have any doubts, do post them here and i'll attend to them. And if you just want to say thanks, you the button.

Let us attempt to make ML a more friendly and nicer place. Wipe out all the prejudice and hatred. It doesnt matter is your Pakistani or Indian. Hindu or Muslim. We are each human beings. Treat one another with respect, the way you would like to be treated.

Regards,
Sneha
ML dev team.

Will be interesting to see how long to go until one of these rules are broken..as per usual.
I think most members know all these rules by heart, it just gives them some sort of pleasure to open such topics.
Makes me wonder though. We can all stop creating topics because of fear of 'getting banned' lol, but members will forever and always carry some sort of hatred in their hearts..meh.

carrying hatred in one's heart is an individual's choice, however bad it may be. It your right as an individual. Insulting someone else is not your right.

I disagree. If hatred is an individual's choice, then why is insulting someone not someone's right? if we all have been given the right to complement and agree then why not to insult and disagree..like you said, no matter how bad it may be😉

when u insult someone, ur hurting another individuals feelings. That you dont have right to. Carry hatred is bad for urself. You can harm yourself as an individual, i wouldnt care less. But you dont have the right to hurt someone else.

Moreover, you have a right to disagree intellectually. But, don't insult. If i dont agree with ur point, i can rationally point it out, persuade you or argue. we may in the end agree to disagree. but i cant diagree on the counts that your stupid or foolish (only examples, no personal attack intended).
