| An artist, first: Jaya Prada | Jaya Prada's performance Dear Editor, Certain political parties made noises about money spent on Jaya Prada's performance in Lucknow and comparisons were made with other artists who performed there. It is sad that politicians still have not learnt how to respect an artist.
Jaya Prada apart from being a parlimentarian, is first a performer of repute. Her comparison with another respected artist, Pt Jasraj is also uncalled for. Jaya Prada's production value should have been taken into consideration, so many performers, sets, costumes, music, songs costs lots of money.
Instead, politicians should make a noise when crores of public money is spent on their birthdays and making of their statues even when they are alive.
The politicians have lots of other grounds to settle scores with each other. It's high time when the politicians of this country learn to respect the artists and not only use them to draw crowds... — Ashok Pandit Filmmaker and Social Activist | |
| And my role model is... Ebrahim | Angry young man We must admit we are a bit allergic to sugary sweet kids. Blame it on being exposed to stereotypical children on TV and movies. Anyway we spotted Saif's son Ebrahim at an event yesterday wearing a T-shirt that read The Incredibles. We loved the frown on Jr Khan's face.
But considering papa Saif's always smiling, so Ebrahim's picking up some other Khan's traits… Salman's, of course, sillies! Luckily Saifu isn't anything like Sallu, his recent road mishap proves that without doubt. Chote Nawab deserves a pat on the back for doing the right thing.
| Do I look Scared? Preity Zinta | Beware of Rani We spotted Preity Zinta At the MTV Immies Award and the actress seemed to have gained a few pounds. Well she looked happy, and that's more important. But maybe this will wipe that smile off her face…
Her well-wishers have been whispering about Preity returning from the Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna schedule from New York long before Rani and Shah Rukh did. Does this mean Zinta's role is smaller in this Karan Johar flick? Preity, should be worried. Especially because Rani can steal the thunder from just about any actor even in a miniscule role. And she is Karan's favourite.
| Sirf dost, aur kuch nahin: Shonali Nagrani | Shonali: Ashish just a friend Of late we have been noticing Shonali Nagrani who anchors Popkorn on Zoom in the company of Ashish Raheja.
Those who know Ashish would know that he loves to party with the annual Raheja party one of the most talked-about bashes of the year.
When asked Shonali cooed, "We are just friends and as we both stay at Bandra; we hang out together with our bunch of friends. There is nothing more to it." Point noted till the next party, then.
Aamir-Pranoy: Host and dost?
We always knew that Aamir takes himself too seriously! But with age he is only getting crankier and crabbier. That's what came across Aamir Khan's interview on NDTV with Pranoy Roy. He moaned till he almost went blue in the face about the media's intrusion into his private life and how he likes not to talk about his personal life.
C'mon Aamir admit it, it's all a matter of convenience 'cause we do remember you talking about writing letters in blood to your ex-wife Reena, years ago when you were a newcomer. Also we have a vague memory of you blabbering about your private life to Simi Garewal on Rendezvous. And you know what was funnier? Pranoy Roy nodding like Noddy and agreeing with Khan about news channels choosing celebrity circus over hard-core news.
The following morning we watched Bipasha Basu crying her heart out, yep on NDTV, and as far as we can tell that was not hard-core news. While on Pranoy, he's constantly preaching to his staff about maintaining distance in their relationship with stars, so that they don't feel obliged to ask for favours. But Roy doesn't practice what he preaches, any time a star calls him to drop a story, bingo it gets done!
| Bas... mera daaman saaf rahey: Sonu Nigam. Pic: Shadab Khan | Seeking divine intervention
Indian Idol judge Sonu Nigam was spotted at the Siddhivinayak temple on Sunday night.
He prayed for divine guidance to choose the right participants for the Idol contest.
The singer surely does not want to play it by the ear only. No wonder the wannabe Idols love apna Sonu!
