How conveniently news channels are abusing politicians and govt machinery, how about "apne girebaan mein bhi jhaanke"? They should feel ashamed.....
1. for broadcasting every action (conducted by police/army/MARCOS/NGS etc) live on TV thereby putting the lives of security personnel in danger...they were revealing every imp detail (showing the position of snipers/personnel, showing security personnel enter the buildings etc).
2. for not moving away from the action zone despite requests from the authorities, security ops hamper ho rahe the unki wajah se, lekin nahi inko to breaking news chahiye.
3. Thrusing their mikes on poor hostages who were being brought out...that is the height of insensitivity.
4. Behaving like unruly mob while NSG director/senior Army officer were addressing them...
5. Conducting SMS polls in the name of Mumbai attacks...I mean atleast spare this attack from SMS polls. And emotionally blackmailing viewers by saying agar aapki feelings victims ke saath hai to humein SMS karein....sickening!
6. Being in the race for "exclusive/breaking" news...
7. Dramatising the entire situation...chilla chilla ka report kar rahe the as if it were a cricket match.
8. Not being sensitive by showing blood, dead bodies
====
Time for media to also face criticism, Indian media apne aap ko special samajhti hai....they feel they can do no wrong.

True, there were some false reports in US.

New journalism techniques are being used. Chatrooms such as flickr using text messaging and cell phone photos.

Media looked to me like some hungry monger, something it got after long time to swallow as a glutton, hogging to the neck and leave nothing. Disgusting....speculating rumours and giving wrong reports (suddenly I saw "times of India" reporting 900 wounded or "ndtv" reporting 40 terrorists involved.

India TV has recieved a notice from the IB Ministry for broadcasting the conversation with the terrorists. The morons at India TV did not realize how much harm they could've caused by lying about other targets or bombs etc. It could've created panic. But unhe kya hai...they were flashing 'India TV exclusive' and busy providing a platform to terrorists to air their warped views. 🤢 😡

Plz sign this petition started by Vishal Dadlani of Vishal-Shekhar fame.
Here's the article:
Small changes, big difference

Music composer Vishal Dadlani and Owen Roncon voice their concern over terror attacks by taking up specific issues

By Namrata Bhawnani

Owen Roncon

Music composer Vishal Dadlani and Owen Roncon, head of an event management company and husband of politician Priya Dutt, are as enraged and upset as the rest of the Mumbai citizens about the terror attack, but with a difference. Instead of just voicing out their concerns, they have directed their frustrations, hurt and anger into starting a movement that will make a difference to the lives of people at large.

Vishal has taken up a petition that he hopes will be signed by enough people to be taken to the High Court. The petition arises from the objections raised by the broadcast terrorist encounter live by the television channels.

Vishal says, "I was shocked that every minute of the encounter was relayed live. More than generating viewer interest, it gave minute-by-minute information to the terrorists. We want television channels to follow a code of conduct while we're under attack. Some information should be classified. They even showed when ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) chief Hemant Karkare arrived on the site. I didn't know who he was. If you assume that the terrorists too were in the same position, this news definitely helped them.

Vishal Dadlani

Members of my family, who are in the armed forces, have expressed horror at the live telecast by the channels and interviews with people in the hotel. One channel even had a terrorist giving out propaganda material. This broadcast could have endangered the lives of our commandos. They definitely did not need to point out where the heads of chambers were stuck."

However, the agony did not end there. He adds, "Rescued hostages were interrogated by the channels with insensitivity. We, as a nation, need to protect our people and armed forces and not scavenge for TRPs."

Similarly, Owen Roncon is out to push for another change. Speaking about the issue he has taken up, he says, "We are taking up the cause of the needs of police and security forces, like housing, training, equipment, etc. as mentioned in the police commission report. After a public meeting to discuss these needs, we will be submitting a charter of demands based on the report to the elected members of the city. The draft is being written by the authorised people in the field and we aim to have a forum by the end of the week."

I completely agree, the media should know its responsibility and be sensible. One Foreign couple were very angry at the media coz they disclosed their whereabouts bcoz of which the terrorists came knocking, they escaped.

I was so angry seeing them getting so close to the hotels. The way they were treating the escaped hostages were insensitive. One guy was bleeding, yet these journalists were grabbing his hand so that they can get a good shot of the hand.

Here in CNN, the journalists were shocked that they could go so close to the hotels , at one point, she almost went to the lobby of the Taj. The police too weren't doing their job, I mean the hostages were coming out but none of them were verified, who knows a couple of terrorists may have escaped pretending to be one of the victims.

Anyway as I said again and again, unless we improve our security , trained terrorists will continue to attack our soil. No pint in blaming Pakistan, what did we do to protect our soil to prevent these terrorists from executing their well laid plans.

There is a basic problem of infrastructure in India.....and this gets highlighted a 1000 times more when a crisis like this occurs.
I too saw that journalist on CNN who was so confused and surprised that she could stand so close to the Taj Hotel and practically walk into the lobby....that gives us a well enough idea about just how much 'organization' was actually there.
I don't know what the journos were thinking....did they find it 'cool' to freakin interview ppl as they lay on the ground in front of the hotel?!....The Indian media just looks like a joke sometimes....no thanks in part to how ridiculous the news channels have gotten....especially Star News and Aaj Tak.....I feel embarassed when I watch their 'reporting'.
Apni mob mentality bhi toh kamaal hai, hai na....The police may even have requested ppl to leave....but since when have ppl listened? Everyone wants to just stand there and stare....while the jounalists jostle amonst each other for the next big 'scoop'....no one wants to apply any of the grey matter and THINK even for a second that they might be hindering the operation of the armed forces.

What a laugh....!!!
