Ekta's crumbling empire

Like the crumbling empire of Russia, Czarina Ekta Kapoor's empire is fragmenting into dust and there is little she can do. The lady who created her own rules and laid down her laws, is slowly falling from honour and position.

It's now official. The partnership of Popcorn and Balaji is facing stormy weathers. After giving a spade of flops like EMI, C Company, Mission Istanbul , their association seems to have soured.

Balaji, who has no dearth of finance joined hands with Popcorn to market and distribute their films that have been produced by them. But the latest buzz is that their deal is ending. The two companies, with mutual consent have decided to part ways. "Yes, it's true that they have ended their partnership. With a series of flop films, both Ekta Kapoor and Sunil Shetty decided that they do not want to continue working together. But the parting has been on an amicable note and they continue to be friends," says our source at Balaji... However, an employee of Popcorn confirms that all is hunky dory and steaming cups of chai are being shared almost everyday between the head honchos of the two companies.

Prior to this, her association with Sanjay Dutt's production company was abruptly called off. Though both tried to deflect the accusations, Ekta had to clarify more than once that Sanju Baba and she are still friends.

Ekta has been in troubled waters for sometime now. First it was her disastrous slew of flop films, and then her flagship shows Kasauti, Kahani and Kyunki were pulled off by Star Plus, which led to the feud with the channel. And now with 9x threatening to shut shop, Balaji's biggest and most expensive show Mahabharat seems to be in the lurch. The big question here is, whether Ekta Kapoor's big empire is crumbling down?

In this phase of her career nothing seems to be going right. Even her new show on Star Plus Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna opened to poor TRP's. The final nail in the coffin is the TV strike that is said to have killed the interest of the audience in TV shows. Wonder how the Kapoor girl will take this blow of fate?

Personally, after reading this article, my feeling is that Ekta is a fighter and she will definately make a comeback. In all of this, though I am not an Ekta fan, I feel that she had brought about a change in the Indian Television industry. Ekta made an impact in a man's world and that cannot be ignored.
While the critics criticize her, they should not forget all that she has achieved. Some bad decisions should not wipe out all the good that she has done/achieved. Maybe this spate of bad luck is good as it may help her to reflect and make some good changes!

lol this made me log back into IF! I have to agree, Ekta has been thru a lot with critz, no one seems to wanna leave her alone - YET she is the one who started the trend of Dramas, power to the ppl and all that lol..
Shes like Rakhi.. struggled but when it comes to the crunch everyone forgets that they did do good in their life. Im not a huge EK fan like my dear Nina is (i dnt think there is anyone who can beat nina heheh) but i do think she deserves credit when its due.
When something good happens there isnt much coverage, when something bad happens, media just wanna add more drama to the story - and they say Kserials are annoyin
Wish her the best tho 👍🏼

I think this is a good phase in Ekta's life. what she did with soaps was good, but as with anything as time goes your audience changes...yesterdays teenagers are now todays housewife. todays younger generation growing up on rapid change also want to see somethiing new. To keep yourself at top, you have to reinvent yourself. With so many channels now showing typical saas bahu drama, there is an overkill. None of them will last as long as Kasauti and kyunki. With an ample supply of educated and creative team, she should think of producing quality shows in limited number, rather than multiple low grade stuff. It goes same with the movie...make one good movie every two years. Even big budget, big star movies are failing because the audience wants something new. Good luck to her.

I agree with Kanta,
She did bring a revolution in the Indian TV industry but then the taste of the audience is changing and she should also change with it. It is not the length of the show but the quality which matters, same old story where evil winning constantly, blooper filled episodes, and of course logic less story. She should concentrate on less no. of shows and give us good storyline, logical and believable because even if it ends within 6 months a good show is always remembered.
Hence she should come down on her pedestal and bend a little and hear a bit as to what her viewers want. A woman who has shown path to many may prove once again her mantle. She may not be a visionery all the time but definitely can be a good follower for a change and change with the time.
Ekta it is not if you donot like do not watch, after all we, the viewers who create or break stars, directors and of course shows.....love Tin

Every good thing comes to an end but to every end comes another start.

If Ekta can start an Era with a bang once, I am sure she can do it again and she will. I do not even think that she is sitting cuddled in her couch, crying over her so called crumbling empire. Like others mentioned above, she brought a change in Indian TV industry, she had the vision, she was innovative and achieved unimaginable - I personally admire her entrepreneurship and the fact that she achieved so much at a very early age in life in very little time and that too in a male-dominated society.

I admit that lately her shows have lost the magical Ekta touch but I can't wait to see her re-emerge in a more powerful way. Good luck Ekta!

Thank you lol well said she definetly changed the way tv industry works and to do it as a women and to rule tv is even more amazing. Firstly i was never a fan of sanjay dutt or sunil shettys type of films do less said better about that colaboration. Yes her serial are ending but for years she was at the top and competition will mean balaji has to up the guy a monopoly in any industry is never good i do not even watch kahani yesterday waiting for kayamath i came across the final episode they were airing its kind of sad. I think he might need consult sunita again that missing k was not very good advise . Shes too good and am sure she will be back she needs to definetly improve her team though seriously copy and paste is a waste of her money she needs to work on the talent they have even if it means doing shows 2/3 times a week but better quality. Even actors now look at what kind of people are acting in her shows now.
