A poem in the name of all those women who take almost all the responsibilities of home and workplace!!!!!

Women and Work

I've children to tend,

The clothes to mend,

The floor to mop,

The food to shop,

The chicken to fry,

The barley to dry.

I got company to feed,

The garden to weed.

I got shirts to press,

The baby to dress,

The cane to cut.

I gotta clean up this hut,

Then see about the sick,

And cotton to pick..........

Shine on me sunshine!

Shine on me rain!

Fall softly dewdrops!

And cool my brow again!!!!!

They perform two-third of the world's working hours.

In Developing countries: women share 53% of total work-load.

In Developed countries: women share 51% of total work-load.

yeah......Rumi is right it's a women day today...here in Canada we don't really celebrate but we all know that it's women day today....

I agree with Rumi and Deli. This is about women all over the world, not necessarily women of the West. Anyway, Maya Angelou is from the west herself (not originally, but she lives here) and she has written this. It is meant for us to understand women's contribution to society all over the world and not just how we live. And as Deli mentioned, some of this is also true of the west.
