The actors and actresses are not living up to the characters, and many of the lines are cheap. Also, much of the story was changed. Was anyone else dissapointed? i too looooooove the old ramayan very much; it is not only a serial for me, but something special, a part of my life. for me, the old ramayan was the best ramayan ever made, and nothing has replaced it in my heart. in the old ramayan, every single actor/actress did justice to his/her role, and the script was 99.99% consistent with the epic, while this new ramayan is only 75-80% consistent with the epic.
you know, i used to like this ramayan in the beginning, especially the bala kandam and ayodhya kandam, but once the exile of Sita, Rama, and Lakshmana started, it went downhill. it is very disappointing.
my dad said this ramayanam degrades the purana, and makes jokes out of important characters like ravana and meghnada. the ravana actor is the most disappointing, out of the whole epic.
yes, the lines are very corny and cheap.
the biggest flaw i find in this whole ramayan is the way the sagars showed sita devi, who is the epitome of purity and patience. this sita devi gets angry too easily at the least provocation, and she shows no soft emotions at all.
my dad said something else. he said that although 20 years passed, the old ramayanam is still remembered, respected, and loved nationwide, but within a year of this new ramayan ending, less than 40% of the nation will remember it.
i used to like this serial, and i felt it had a lot of potential, but it is very disappointing now. to me, it is only a comedy serial (with that worst ravan actor in it), not a religious epic.
