| Time bound: Amitabh Bachchan |
The film-makers of Bhoothnath had gone hammer and tongs announcing that the film will have a sequel. The movie which had Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla playing pivotal roles did moderately well at the box office prompting the film-makers to think about a sequel.
But as it looks ? the sequel may never happen again.
Sources close to the development inform us that Amitabh Bachchan is so busy till the next year that he does not have dates for the sequel. Again, carrying the film forward was getting difficult for the film-makers as the original film had come to a logical conclusion and they didn't know how they could fit Amitabh into the script of the sequel.
The insider reveals, "The sequel to Bhoothnath is not happening. Amitabh Bachchan doesn't have dates for over a year as he's busy with Teen Patti and Aladin. Then he'll move on to Deepa Mehta's film and Ravi Chopra's Pocketmaar. The film-makers were really kicked making a sequel but they might have realised that they can't take the story forward as the film had reached a conclusive end with Bhoothnath being freed from worldly ties. They will have to make a fresh start again, write a totally different film or else how will they fit in Amitabh in the script?"
Vivek Sharma, the director of Bhoothnath confirms, "No more sequel (to Bhoothnath). One and last," was his short reply.
While the director of the film rubbishes any chance, Ravi Chopra ? the producer ? on the contrary maintains that the sequel might happen.
"Right now Vivek as well as Amitji is very busy with other work and I too don't take up two things at one go. I'm currently doing some films. We all will finish our present works and then sit to chalk out how we can carry forward the story," he says.
