Smriti Iraani
Through the end of 2007, Smriti Iraani looked for a life beyond Tulsi. Her fallout with mentor Ekta is well documented and legend has it that Smriti had turned up as Vrinda in Teen Bahuraniyaan to nullify the effect of her successor in Kyunki. However, few months down the line it was dj vu for Smriti.
Vrinda didn't win viewer's hearts, Mere Apne simply failed to get going and Smriti's proposed sitcom for Zee was shelved. Life as a producer was proving tough and with overheads rising Smriti needed someone to bail her out. Astonishingly, it was Ekta who cameo to her friend-turned-rival's rescue by bringing her back as Tulsi. This was billed as the mother of all patch ups. Smriti's first words upon returning were 'This was a God sent opportunity." These words reflected how badly Smriti needed this break.
Unfortunately, this honeymoon lasted for a short period only. The viewers didn't quite welcome back the original Tulsi and rumour has it that the dipping TRPs had Ekta contemplating over her move of bringing back Smriti.
Smriti was dealt another blow when Mere Apne was pulled off air. Her Sarkaresque show Waaris too fell flat. And now comes the killer blow for both Smriti and Ekta with Star Plus deciding to pull the plug on Kyunki..
Life truly has come a full circle for Smriti. One wonders whether Smriti can come out of this chakra.
