I would say rocking because at that time zee was nowhere in the map and KS and SP put them in play and changed zee's fortunes'. Also nowadays there is a slight difference in how shows are reported, in that each show only is counted for 1 day with it's highest TRP.

When you pointed out KS was # 26, Kyunki was counted 5 times, as it was shown 5 days and same with other show. In those terms bidaii is an hr show now so it's 10 spots, and Balika Badhu is 5 spots. So connecting apples to apples KS is #15 ( can say this easily as other have a gap of 2+ TRP from KS). Also KS is number 1 for the last 2 weeks the big finale and before that it had Dulhan and SP ahead so you should add in another 10 slots there (These shows all used to be 5 day shows in 2006 period).

So I would reiterate as #1 zee show sharing the honours with SP in 2006 when these 2 shows turned the tide for zee, KS was infact rocking.

My post on the previous page only half posted 😕 Only God knows why the end part got chopped off... anyways, I added it on now. I'm kinda furious that my "God bless" was missed off for all these hours 😡

The Magnificant One seems to see things the way I do 😃 And so I'm glad that my rambling on the previous page made sense 😆

For KS to be at number 3 at a time where there is MORE COMPETITION from new channels (that are doing well - COLOURS is the number 2 channel!), then I'd say that KS has rocked off the scale (on the higher end)!

And tweety ji, the stuff about Kyunki being shown for 5 days... hey, even KS was shown for 5 days at that time! The proportion in which KS was showed in comparison to other shows is equal to what is being now. The point is that KS was NOT getting a top 10 slot (let alone top 3 slot) during that time... but it is getting it now! As I said before, this is probably the first time where a Zee serial has broken into the top 3!

Surely, KS MUST get credit for that! 😛

I really cannot see how this current phase can be compared to the worst phases of KS - especially when it has gotten it's highest ever ranking 😆

I didn't understand the stuff about KS being #15 though... if you have time, please do post to clarify how you drew that conclusion 👍🏼

Why does any TRP posting for KS become a mini-battlefield? Why even argue about which period is the better one for KS? Every time frame, be it 2006, 2007 or 2008 had its up and down for KS!

We have to acknowledge the contributions of all the cast and crew members for KS and any success that it achieved/achieves! We cannot forget that Ram, Prachi, Ashwini, Naman, Siddharth, Arunima, Roshini, Gurdeep, Pallavi and the rest have all contributed to KS and its success. There is no way one actor's contribution can be downplayed for another because at various points/periods of time, each have done their total bit for the serial.

On the whole, it is the story and screenplay that majorly contributes to TRPs. The period given here, 12/10 to 18/10 /2008 is the time when Meera's character disappears and audience were waiting for Jai and the rest to know that Pronita is Bani ! So, the incentive here was the truth of Bani coming out and a JB reunion, along with the rest of the family. Of course its another story that the truth never came out !

Why can't we enjoy the good trps without making it a battle-zone? And I firmly believe, no matter what anyone says, the contributions of Ram and Prachi to KS can never be made insignificant !!

I could not have said it better. I really don't see the point to bring someone or something down to prop someone or something up.

Now a technical clarification on the question how KS is #15. I guess my previous explanation was not very good. Till middle of 2008 when the TAM rating were provided in indiantelevision.com they included the rating for each program for each day as opposed to now when they only show it for the day with the highest ratings. So when in 2006 KS was shown as say #26, it was in effect not the 26th show but the #6 show because Kyunki had 5 spots before it which does not happen today.

So an apples to apples comparision today would be ( all shows 5 nights)

Now this is comparable to the 2006 chart and KS is # 7 behind . Also it's easier now for zee serials to break the top 3 because the shows that used to rule are being pulled off air and very few shows are doing well. KS and SP in 2006 was credited with breaking the BT/Starplus stronghold. Different times have different dynamics.

I have said all I have to on this topic. Like sugganthirani my point was there is no need to pull KS down in it's previous phases to show that its' doing well now. It's not doing off the charts, it's just benefitting from a lot of other shows getting really old and being pulled off. Just to take one days TRP and dumb on a whole 3 years of hard work is just not fair. If KS could not do this on the week it culminated it's 5 month track of revenge would be sad.

Congratulations to the KS team and hope they keep up the good work.

Ahhh... I'm a little late... but as they say better late than never 😛

I don't think there was any sort of battle going on at any point... I mean, no one handed out any form of whuppin to anyone, and nothing got heated. I mean, I cannot even see anything that looks remotely heated 😕

Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks to the Tweety One for posting the clarification that yours truly requested 😊 Much appreciated 👍🏼

Just a point that I'd want to make about the apple to apple thing... the June 2006 TRP list that was shared in the last post, it's kinda clear that rankings were given to an entire show rather than half an a half an hour segments like is being suggested in the apple comparison 😳

There we go, I think that's a bit better for the intended purpose, hai na? 😊

So if we look at things with each episode being ranked in the list, then the current day KS is #11. And of course, if we use the convention that is currently being used (the show is ranked just once a week), it's #3. Either way, that still is awesome! 😃

Where those old shows have ended, new shows (and new channels!) have come in - new strong shows that are doing great! In fact, Bidayi, televisions number one show, is the strongest direct competition KS has ever had, and yet KS is getting a pretty good number and ranking brother! Whatever the reason, the result was a good one for KS 👍🏼

Anyways, whichever way it's looked at, I see no reason to suggest that KS has not done great! I just disagreed heavily with statements like "KS TRP's are lower than what is has been even during some of it's lower phases"... I mean, whatever comparisons are used, KS doesn't rank badly at all! Whether it does anywhere near as good in the coming weeks or not, that's another issue... but THIS given week was great! 👏

And so dear people, to clarify this was the only reason I posted what I did 😛 Like tweetyangel, even I had absolutely zero intention of doing anything other than the reason stated 😃

Ah! The idle chatter on KS TRPs again...

The initially popular KS during Jan 2006 - Jun 2006 has become more of a habit for most TV viewers - I know this because people still rave about the initial KS during Sandeep Sikand days.

That's the most logical explanation...

TRPs are a load of BS and people who watch Zee TV's other shows don't want to switch to another channel - they just become passive viewers...

I know I do that when I watch some of the shows on American TV -

I would consider TRPs as trivia and consider them as trivial without much logic! Much like an irrelevent facts that don't prove if a theorem is right or wrong.

Some people try too hard to convince others that the show still has some magic left and hence the TRPs are high - God Bless their wishful thinking.

Some people moved on to better things, some stayed on because of their love for RK, some became passive viewers and there may be some who genuinely like the show (😕) - I know this post will definitely get one response from such viewer - I have no doubt!

😆 Now who wants to bet who that is?
