'Rishi Kapoor was my first crush!'
For years now Delnaazz Paul has managed to keep her viewers riveted with her great sense of comic timing and her dancing skills.
Ask Delnaazz if being slotted in the comic genre ever bothers her and she says, "Not really. I am in this industry to act and if people have liked me like this, I have no problems. Of course, once in a while I do like to explore the serious genre too."
Do reality shows help stars explore various facets of their personalities? "Oh yes, they do. Most stars on reality shows are doing stuff, which they never dreamt of doing, so it's a fun thing. Personally, I indulged in dancing much earlier than acting. But, people realised I was a good dancer only after I did a reality show. So, of course, the show's done me a world of good."
With the actress having dabbled in films, television and theatre, quiz Delnaazz on whether there is any role, which she is still dying to do and she says, "I am not waiting for any dream role. I am just looking to do some good work."
And is there any particular actor who she wants to work with? "I am blessed. I have worked with all the stars whom I have adored, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman, Saif and Hrithik. But, my most memorable moment was my film with Rishi Kapoor. He was my first crush after all!"
It's a contrast that surprises you. Ask Delnaazz if she is the funny person we see her on screen and she replies hastily, "I am a very serious type of person. In fact, people do not believe it when I say this. I just can't crack a joke. But, I am a very positive person. And I guess it's this positivity, which my fans like a lot."
Ask her if she is satisfied with the time she gets to spend with her family and she says, "All this talk of not having time etc is untrue. Yes, we have erratic working hours and gruelling schedules. But, when a serial winds up, we really have lots of time and I think we have to make maximum use of this. I ensure that I do this and never feel that I am missing out on family life," says she and signs off on a positive note.
