In a competition judged by highly capable people, concept of taking in candidates in the final round by popuraity(voting) was a big mistake. It was also disrespect to judgement of eminent musicians. Probably this laid the base stone for performance over singing & introducing voting which resulted in total chaos.

Thats exactly right. I remember in prelim rounds so many good singer got eliminated because they didn't said the word correct or messed up a word in a song. I thought they want the flawless perfect singer to win the title but now it seems they just want popular to win.

very well said. Let me add
1. It saw the rise of HR to point beyond control
2.Gave effective weapon in hand of zee management to manipulate the show
3. Introduction of mentometers(weapon of revenge)

More than any thing else the Bramhastra was flash point of ego clash, it was disgusting to see senior musicians requesting & messaging(ID) HR for their candidates, if it had to be voting, it should have been in favour of candidates directly and not in the name of mentors.
It led to degenration of show.

Yes to all of the above -- especially the part of about not setting rules at the
beginning. Also I think that a uniform score card for the judges would have
elminated a lot of this mess. Sur, epxression, performance...

SRGMP has always had judges from the field. These mentors and their
comments were not helpful.

The current voting system, I am sorry to say, does not tell us contestant's popularity in true sense. Contestant getting most votes is not necessarily the most popular. Why? because they allow multiple voting. Let us say contestant A has backing of 80 people and B, 20 people. Now contestant A gives a rocking performance (gets 10-10-10) and B gives terrible (gets say 4-5-6). The contestant A's supporters will feel that he/she has rocked so he/she will be very safe. So they give him/her just 2 votes each. Contestant B's supporters get panicked because of his/her bad show and to save him/her they vote him/her 10 times. Now A gets 160 votes and B 200. So even if A is 4 times more popular he/she gets voted out. Zee does not care about this. In fact they are very happy about this situation. Why? because the bad performance by B benefitted them-- there was a mad rush of SMSs and boy! more Rs. Rs. Rs. Rs. for zee.

This whole public voting system is open for all kinds of abuses. It is a big farce-Smart Money-making System (as someone said before) for Zee and nothing else! Someone could hire a bunch of folks and have them send SMSs for one candidate day and night till their fingers turn black and blue.

They are neither selecting the best ( by judges) nor the most popular (by public voting in its true spirit). All they care about is the bottom line. Making it fatter and fatter (and more fatter!) is the ultimate goal.

Perhaps, this will make you happy...I just asked cableTV to remove Zee channels from my account...can't stand this nonsense any more...also saves me a lot of money per month...
