i go for uniforms. i analysis uniforms from different schools and came to a conclusion. most hate the navy blue tunic ones. response i look pregnent, fat, ugly. gone r the days wen brits were in india, sing, HK. why r we still wearing their stupid uniforms. skirts are ok. pleated ones take a long time ironing. its a painful job. i like a-line skirts the best. some schools have a a-line dress, thats my personal fav. i just hate it wen the school uniforms r not suited to the climate. in mumbai where its hot u cant wear a thick drill uni. it should be made in cotton shirt material.

i know this is getting long. but its one of my fav topic. in sing i went to UWC international school. the uni were so cool, designed by the students themselves. each set of 2 grades had a unique colour of polo shirts and common grey pants or skirts. this was the first school i went to which allowed girls to wear pants or skirts.

now coming to socks n shoes. in india insist on school socks or white ones. ok but they get dirty fast n difficult to clean. why not wear black ones. shoes- black leather shoes in india. this was my fav pastime polishing my shoes till they sparkle. somtime i would polish my fathers too. i like black leather shoes. but wen i went to singapore, they wore white tennis shoes, keads, imagine painting/ whitening ur shoes everyday. have they gone out of their minds, they get dirty.

PE/PT uniforms- many schools dont allow girls to wear shorts. i dont mind that, becoz i know guys wandering on the streets look really odd at u. but for god sake dont make white shorts n shirts. they should be colorful, mightbe according to the house colours.
i dont mind pe shoes, but they r slippery at times.

now accessories- ties, belts, badges, wat not. badges r just useless. ties r ok wen guys come to grd 9-12. but before that no need. belts r ok, no grudge against them. schools should not force to buy school bag, socks, waterbottle etc.

other acces- Indian schools have left me a sense of discipline wen it comes to cutting nails, no nail polish. not to forget the weekly check ups. i never use to cut my nail or take of the nail polish. i somehow got away every time. tieing up your hair once its long enough to. but seriously do we really need to braid it. it looks a little ridiculous these days. but more rid is wear a pair of pigtails with coloured ribbons. dat should be totally abolished.

there r international uni rules stated, u can use only particular colours, designs, patterns. now u realise why every school has either black, brown, grey, white, navy, dark green pants. thats mainly the restriction.

now cuming to whether we should have uni or not. strangely wen i was in grd 12, the grade 10 protested that they should have the liberty to wear colour clothes wen they become seniors. a poll took place and the grade 11 and 12's came to a majority to stick to wearing uni. i think we were all very traditional. in that way.

In sing, the school allow a max of 2 days in a term to wear colour clothes. but in return we had to pay for charity. thats ok. becoz we cant wait to wear color clothes. in india in sum schools they allow u to wear anything on ur birthday, thats nice. this system is good about 5 times in the year get a chance to wear anything and also on your birthday.

hoped i didnt bore u with my long essay. yup thats my point.
