'We have good chances to make it to the NB finals'
Karnvir Bohra and Teejay Sidhu are one of the couples competing for the coveted Nach Baliye 4 title this year. After having filmed their first episode, Teejay feels their excellent energy level and good chemistry can take them to the finals.
We speak to Teejay about her plans for NB4.
This is your second dance reality after Kabhie Kabhie Yaar…What difference do you find in the two?
This platform is bigger. Nach is the mother of all dance realities. Also one important difference is that there wasn't enough time to practice in Kabhie Kabhie… - it was just two days. On the contrary here we get one week to practice for one performance.
Earlier too you had been approached for Nach twice. But it is only this time that you agreed. Why?
Yes that's true. But the first time when we were approached Karnvir had an injury. He had torn a ligament in his knee for which he was suppose to undergo physiotherapy and last year when we were asked for it, Karnvir was busy shooting for Kismet Konnection. Finally this time when we were approached about three months back, we said 'yes' to it.
What do you feel about you and Karnvir as dance partners?
Great! I truly feel that we both share a very good chemistry and have a great energy level as well… I think we have fairly good chances of making it to the finals.
How difficult do you find coping with the dance routines since you have no professional experience?
Nothing is difficult… it's easier in fact!
How many hours do you rehearse daily?
I am doing a health show I have to shoot for that too. So we put in 6-7 hours of practice daily.
Who do you think of the two of you is a better dancer?
It's Karnvir as he grasps steps very quickly and even remembers them pretty well when compared to me.
Have you seen NB earlier?
Ya… I've followed some of the episodes of all the three seasons so far.
On which song will you performing in the first round?
We've performed on the title track of Welcome. This is our first performance and we are welcoming the viewers to the show. I will be seen in a very different look… I am wearing a metallic silver dress and Karnvir is in a black coloured suit with a hat.
How was the experience while performing for the first round?
At the last moment, I couldn't get my shoes which I needed for the performance and sadly I had to perform with my regular boots as there was no option. The dance floor was of glass and hence it was too slippery for me to dance on that. We would have got more points had this not been a problem.
What was the reaction of the judges on your first performance?
Farah was very stingy. She actually said that of all the guys Karnvir is the best and that he possess the qualities to be a professional dancer but she told me that she expected me to be better than Karnvir! Karisma also loved Karnvir's performance and appreciated both of us but Arjun actually realized that there was something wrong with my shoes as he said that he still believes that I am a good dancer, but perhaps something else has affected the performance.
Who do you think would give you a tough competition?
Jaspal Bhatti and his wife Savita, because they have good energy and a lot of enthusiasm, I hope they last for long.
Would you be interested to do any dailies if you are offered one?
No! It's a strict no no to dailies. I can't give 12-14 hours for it which is needed.
