Sarg 66 - Lav-Kush are Born

When Shatrughn was sleeping in Vaalmeeki's aashram, some Muni children told Vaalmeeki about midnight that Seetaa had given birth to two sons. Vaalmeeki Jee came there and he guarded them with "Bhoot Vinaashinee" Mantra. The child who was born from the front part of Kush, was thus named Kush and child who was born from the back part of Kush was named Lav. Then Muni women sang some auspicious songs.

Yeah i read on wikipedia when I was searching LuvKush too that Kush was created by Valmikiji because there was a point during when Sita-maya was looking for Luv, while the lad wandered off to some forest.....so Valmikiji noticed this & felt bad for Sita-mata & hence made Kush as an exact replica of Luv....Then Luv on hearing his mother call him returned back to the Kutia in which they were living in....Sita mata then got confused as she saw her son having a look alike...Valmikiji then told Sita mata that he had created Kush since Luv had not shown up on her constant calling of hers!!!!!

yeah, i heard that story. i believed on that story when i was kid too.

but lately, i got doubt abt it.

that Valmiki cud have searched luv, by his vidya. and making another live boy is far difficult than searching someone. And he was a sage, he wud have thought, that it is not good to deceive Sita by this. and "where is the luv "?

but logic doesnt work. kuch bhi ho sakta hai :-D

As far as I know, that story from wikipedia is not true. Both Luv and Kush were twins and sons of Sitaji. Kush was born a few minutes before Luv, so he was older. Also, in the Valmiki Ramayana, it says that when Sitaji was carrying the children, it was prophesied that she would give birth to two sons, and that both would be heirs of the kingdom. And also, what need would Valmiki have to create another boy? He would have the mystical power to know where Luv is.
