enough of your South & North, why are you contaminating the atmosphere. If you like classical, please pick up taanpura and don't leave till you get selected in SRGMP 2006. And till then hum pe raham karo......

Well in boys it is Hemachandra with out any doubt and in girls it is Nihira. Both are classically trained and they are perfect when it comes to sur & taal.

instead of selecting just vote them and ask your closeones to vote for them so that we will not face this situation again

In my view nihira is the best for classical songs. bcos I have seen her in SAB tv children's competition 'aao jhume ghaye' she used to be the winner . anchor was annukapoor . even mannadey and parveen sultana [judge] appreciated nihira that too when she was hardly 10 years old. she has a beautiful voice and sings with sur, rythm. she deserve to be the winner. god knows what will be the result bcos public voting choice is very pecular some time.

Definitely Nihira. I am surprised that Hemchandra is not more classically trained. He keeps claiming that his voiced his trained in Carnatic music, but i rarely hear that in his singing.

I think that Nihira and Hema seem to have the best base. But I know that
Debo, Ujjaini, Twinkle and Himani are def. classically trained. Not sure
about Vineet.

Of our lost contestants I mention Sharib, Swananda, Sanchali, Abhijeet,
Keka, Raktima (thougn I don't like her voice), Himabindu and Niladri. I
feel like I am missing some contestants so please someone fill it in.

The fact that we have lost so many fine classical singers and have ended
up with Rajeev as a finalist - I think that really speaks to the deterioration
of music in India.

Also I think that it is fine to say that South Indians are generally more
classically based singers. It is true. It is part of their culture. Same for
Maharastrians and Bengalis. I don't think that it regionalism, Punjabis
and Gujratis are often excellent dancers. That does not means that there
are not many very good North Indian singers and I say this as a North
Indian. If anything, I expect more from Hema.

Thanks so much for opening this topic.

Hemachandra may be classically trained, but I've not really seen him demonstrate that in his choice of songs... especially of late with songs like "My heart goes mmmm"

The singers who have clearly demonstrated their classical abilities are: Nihira (Chalka chalka re), Sharib (laagi tumse mann ki lagan). There might have been others who have been voted out...
