It is sad to see Sa Re Ga Ma Pa being commercialized to the extent that it is today. Aspects other than singing are getting more prominence than singing. High pitched arguments between the mentors, arguments between mentors and judges are the order of the day. Gossip, linking a male contestant with female, sob stories, rakhi ceremonies all this is making singing secondary.
Sa re ga ma pa has just remained an entertainment show, not a real competition. The original format of Saregama (Sonu Nigam days) was most appropriate. Contestants had to go throuh a variety of tests - song of their choice, judges choice, folk songs, singing without accompanying music, chord round - all these tested the contestants all round singing abilities.
I wish the program returns to its original format instead of this commercialization in collusion with the mobile phone service providers!
