Small screen superstar Aman Verma is a charmer in real life.
In town to host an auction event at a leading club, Aman confesses that coming to Ahmedabad is always a pleasure. He gushes about the city saying he finds Amdavadis "warm and hospitable. So I enjoy every visit to the city."
From an endearing, encouraging host in Indian Idol and Khul Ja Sim Sim to playing a negative lead in the prime time show Sujata, Aman's sure come a long way. The actor admits that even in this show he plays a Gujarati! "The character that I play in the show is an aggressive man who's very, very successful." Is Aman aggressive himself off-screen? The dimpled smile is back as he says with a disarming candour, "I think most Indian men are aggressive husbands but I'm not going to be one of them." Not that this 35-year-old actor is in a hurry to tie the nuptial knot, by his own admission.
And has he sampled some Gujarati fare on his many visits here? Aman admits that he has tasted Gujarati food, but he prefers, "North-Indian food. I find Gujarati food very sweet. I had a Gujarati girlfriend once, but I never liked the food she cooked!"
What makes Aman keep doing grey roles? That's something, Aman doesn't seem to mind. "I enjoy every role I take up. I think I have to be thankful that my audience can accept me both in positive and negative characters. And with TRPs changing the script of a show, you never know what will be the next change to the character I play!"
While he has dabbled in films earlier, as of now, Aman doesn't wish to talk about his big screen plans. "Let's say, I have things lined up which I will divulge later."
