The wait is finally over! The Indo-American Society (IAS) is delighted to host its 6th Young Achiever Awards. IAS, an institution that works towards building Educational and Socio-Cultural relations between India and the United States of America, announced the winners for the 'Young Achiever Awards 2005'. The awards presented for the 6th year in succession, recognize extraordinary achievement amongst India's young talent in various walks of life, ranging from business and sports to theatre and art. The winners of the Young Achiever Awards - 2005 will be conferred at a star-studded awards ceremony in Mumbai IAS Young Achiever Awards are now a "brand" in its own right. This is a most eagerly awaited event by members and the general public wherein awards are presented in great style by top US officials and celebrities. The Young Achiever Awards credo has always been "celebrate excellence, and recognize talent – The Indo-American way."
This year, the Indo American Society's, Young Achiever Awards 2005, will felicitate 19 individuals based in India and the US, who have achieved excellence in different disciplines: Business, Social Service, Performing Arts, Music, Television and Journalism. The nominations received by IAS were selected by a high-powered Panel of Judges consisting of Chairman, H.F.Khorakiwala, CMD, Wockhardt Ltd., Sham Sunder Aggarwal, Chairman & MD, DBS Group, Asit Bhatia, MD, Bank of America N.A., Hital Meswani, Director, Reliance industries Ltd., Dominic Price, President IAS & MD & Senior Country Officer of J P Morgan, Past Young Achiever Awardee Sunil Sahjwani, CEO, Percept Picture Company, Chaitanya Padukone, Sr.Film & TV journalist and Dr.Arun C.Vakil, Chairman, IAS Programmes & US Visa & Immigration Consultant.
The Chief Guest at this year's Young Achiever Awards ceremony will be Mr. Robert O. Blake, Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy, New Delhi who will be accompanied by US Consul General in Mumbai, Mr. Michael S. Owen. Famous Producer & Director, Mr. Ramesh Sippy will also be the Guest of Honour.
The awardees for the field of music, films & television are…
Aqueel Ali- (Music) - Renowned DJ, who has made the listeners swing to his tapping tunes. His album "Return of Daddy mix" which was released in 2002 has topped the charts in India & US.
Vidya Balan- (Films) - A prolific model from various ad commercials who made her debut in Parineeta on the movie-screen. With her classy performance in Parineeta as Lolita she is now working with Amitabh Bachchan & Sanjay Dutt.
Priyanka Chopra- (Films) - She has lived up to her reputation by beating 94 contestants to take Miss World Crown.
Today, she is a successful film actress to reckon with. Her movies Andaz, Aitraaz, Waqt, Mujshe Shaadi Karogi have won her accolades in India & US.
Bobby Deol- (Films) - Renowned Actor, who made his debut in Barsaat after that there was no looking back for him.
His movies Humraaz, Bichoo, Bhagat Singh have been runaway success in India & US.
Sanjay Gadhvi- (Film-Makers) - A talented director who made his debut as a director with Zee Feature Film 'Tere Liye'.
He is also director of Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai. In 2004, his movie Dhoom emerged as one of the biggest Dhooms & has been a runaway success in India & US markets.
Himesh Reshammiya- (Music) - This Bollywood music composer has rendered hits in Humraaz, Jodi No. 1, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. His latest hit Aashique Bannaya Apne is a run away success in India & US.
Hiten Tejwani- (Television) - His initial claim to fame was the popular soap Kutumb. Today we all know him as Karan of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He has become heartthrobs of millions of viewers in India & US.
Rakshanda Khan- (Television) - We all know her as Mallika in Jassi & Tanya in Kyunki… Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
She has also been a part of ICC Champions Trophy & is popular amongst home audiences.
